I've never been a fan of Parcells and said so when Miami hired him. I was not among those that was excited or happy with Parcells coming here. That situation played out exactly as I expected. I said he would bring us some instant credibility with FAs and the media based on his Giant's success, but would implement an out-dated system that would fail and then he would bail. And I agree with Da'Fins characterization of him.
I find it hilarious how Parcells hired Ireland's coach, the offensive coordinator and people think Ireland should be responsible for the teams woes while he was in charge...lol...clueless.
Who's crying for Sparano? Not I. I'm not even a fan of Parcells and wasn't excited when we got him. But what Ireland did was douchebaggery status to the max. If he was looking for the best interests of the Dolphins he'd tell Ross to court a coach when you still have one will harm our image. Which it did. Especially when Harbaugh turned us down. So he was t looking out for the interests of the team. He was looking out for himself. Which is fine. It's still a douche move.
Ross had ties with Harbaugh, he led that charge, and Ross didnt want to give up on his GM..he did the right thing..
disagree. he tried to build a team like last year's ravens or the year before's giants. the style still wins. the philosophy still wins. failure to get a sustainable oline, qb and complimentary pass rusher opposite wake is what lead to failure here. he hired ireland and freland failed getting those three areas so parcells is not without blame. i think if he had to do it all over again he wouldve hired someone else other than ireland
How do we know Bigfoot doesn't exist? If Ireland admits he's a douchebag I'll take his word over whatever it is you want to believe.
That's an interesting comparison, because you've got similarly dubious reason for belief in the face of a rather stiff burden of proof.
But they have a TV show and everything. How can he not be real? That news really upsets me, I was all about a show based on complete bull****, just like the ghost hunting shows. How can we not believe these informed minds?
I work for a company that's been around 30+ years, we have a guy that's been with us little over a year that thinks he knows how to run the company better than the owner...we just laugh at him.
Really? He admits he went with him, not that he didn't try to talk him out of it. And this is another completely blown out of proportion event in the first place.
you think they get along? i mean, parcells left ross probably because ross involved himself too much in the team business. parcells doesnt like those type of owners. but who knows, maybe they do talk
I could be wrong, but I believe I read something this past week that Parcells and Ross talk and still get along. Not sure where I read it though.
Pursuing Jim Harbaugh was the right thing to do. Pursuing him when you still had your head coach under contract wasn't. No matter how you try to rationalize that, if Ross felt like he wanted Harbaugh, he should have gone ahead and fired Sparano.
The difference is that Eli is an excellent QB and so is Flacco. Both teams are built around the passing game. The philosophy does not apply anymore. It is 100% ****.
he has said it was a mistake not drafting matt ryan. they rolled the dice on henne and it came up craps. if you think either the giants or the ravens are "built around " the passing game you dont understand either team. they are built around strong defense and a strong running game. when you have a good qb you open up the passing game. when you dont have a good qb you rely on the run gm. how good your qb is dictates your emphasis. that is why we ran as much as we did under henne. not because it was preferred buut because henne sucked
I agree. I just see it as something Ross directed/wanted. I wouldn't blame Ireland for that. Ireland may or may not have suggested firing Sparano before speaking to Harbaugh. Whether he did or didn't it would be considered a betrayal. I don't see anything Ireland could have done other than quitting that wouldn't be seen as a betrayal by half of the room.
lulz. No. He's had some very clutch moments, but for the most part is a turnover machine. Excellent QB's don't miss the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years. Manning more hype than reality. He's our generations John Elway.
It really wasn't the wrong thing to do. In the business world, which is where Ross is from, its fairly common practice to recruit people you think are special for positions that are presently filled. It doesn't get press, but I guarantee it happens at least on the business side of teams' staffs. It most this was an etiquette error, not the egregious and heinous mistake of the century, some people (certain media and posters here) have made it out to be.
Eli is a top 10 QB, then in the playoffs he turns into a top 5. Is he overhyped?? I dunno, but he's a very good QB.
LOL they do prefer to run the football. Henne did suck, but that was the Henning /Sparano/Parcells bull**** philosophy.
He's got to get their first. As I said, in the last 4 years the Giants have made the playoffs only once. Very well could be 4/5 years, after this year.
