I would like to thank the MLBPA for not allowing the Sox to trade for A-Rod.

That's one of the greatest "What If" questions in sports history. What if Arod was traded to the Sox for Manny and Lester and Nomar was traded to the White Sox for Maggilo Ordonez? You wonder if the Sox would have won the 2004 WS. Schilling says no because Arod wouldn't have fit in with the character in the clubhouse but don't forget Arod was a monster offensive player at that time. I would have to think he'd probably have performed better in Boston, where he would be loved from day 1, then New York when he was looked at as "Not Jeter".

I'd love to go back to 2007/2008 and ask Yankee fans what they would think if I told them Ian Kennedy would pitch against Phil Hughes in a random August game in San Diego, Hughes wouldn't last 3 innings and Joba would pitch in a mop up role, with both Hughes and Joba likely in their way out of town.

I'm starting to wonder if the Yankees will offer Hughes arbitration at this point because he might just accept it with hopes he'll have a bounce back year then sign a big deal in the next offseason.

I'm sure if Arod was only getting a 50 game suspension he would have taken it too.

Really hope MLB discloses all the evidence they have on Arod and exactly why he's getting more games then the others.

Nope he isnt taking any deal...announcement at 3pm.....

Telling you as before he is going to get into trouble mostly for obstructing the investigation IMO...

It is going to be interesting to see what the Rangers do, they said they were going to release him if he didnt fight it....(cruz)

I am hearing 215-250 games and not lifetime, because MLB fells that with the evidence 215 is warranted whereas lifetime is a little much...

I know he's going to fight the suspension. My point was if he was only getting 50 games or so he probably would have accepted it but if they're going to suspend him for all of this year and next, he has every reason and right to. I mean what's the risk there?

As far as the Rangers releasing Cruz if he didn't fight it, I don't blame Cruz for just taking the suspension especially in his walk year. Not saying who's right or wrong here but if Cruz truly did take PEDs (which he probably did) what does he have to gain for appealing it?

I think he is stupid fighting it honestly, and I am defending HIS point of view right now.....

if he just took this and next year sucks yeah but if he appeals (which he is) this isn't getting heard until next year, that means he could not see playing in all of 14 and most of 15....instead of playing Opening Day 2015....

we can all agree on one thing thought right now and it is mindblowing......

A-Rod is playing tonight boys....8PM...get your popcorn, this is the most excitement I have in sports since watching PC in the NIT last year.....I am going to miss A-Rod when he is done...guy has balls....

I guess living a short life with a lot of money is better then a long life being broke.

Honestly if the suspension is upheld then I don't see arod playing in 2015

Arod should have hired a PI to get dirt on Bud and use blackmail on him.

I find it amazing that Pete rose is still banned for life yet people who get busted with steroids or hgh they are suspended 50 games. Do the right thing baseball being rose back. I know bud wont because he gave his word that as long as he's comish he won't. When is his last season, is it next season?

Bud was going to bring Rose back as long as he finally came forth with the entire truth. He didn't and Selig continued his ban.

Tony Reali brought up a good point today... Why didn't the Yankees bunt during the Bloody sock game. If Shilling was really hurt he would have had a tough time fielding bunts all game

i'm just sick to my stomach. A-rod was all time fav player from his seattle days. I loved him. The first time it came out he did PEDs back in Texas I was devastated. But I believed him that he only did it then, then he tore it up in the playoffs in 08 (can't remember the specific year) and I was so happy for him. When he got linked to the biogenisis thing maybe a year ago(?), I became numb. There's nothing like your childhood favorite baseball player being exposed as a cheat time and time again.

Yah that sucks....but that is Alex, the guy is just a habitual liar, and I honestly think he played his whole career on PEDs....maybe even high school, not sure he has ever played the game at the major league level without them...

see a guy like Jeter? That's what happens when you aren't on them play the most difficult position and are 39 years old....you just breakdown....I feel for Jeter I really think this was going to be his last year if it was not for Rivera last year getting hurt.

I blame Raul Ibanaz... he never ties the game up against Detroit, Jeter never gets hurt!

in all seriousness, I dont get people bashing the Yankees playing Arod. If you have to pay him, might aswell let him work. Maybe help you win

Surprised no one in the media brought up that it was ironic that Pettitte (a former PED user) started last night's game with Arod's big comeback. I guess that's what happens when you're a nice guy and admit to a "one" time mistake.

Although I must say Nelson Cruz's excuse for taking PEDs was the best from yesterday. But to be fair at least with his excuse no one can say he's full of crap.

Verducci touched on this last night on MLBN, in all fairness to A-Rod after he came out in 09 and said he screwed up and to "judge him from this day out" EVERYBODY left him alone after that because he admitted it.....that A-Rod in 09 was going into all the ballparks across the country expecting to be asked about PED's and wasn't and it took him by surprise....

AP I think only did it once, he doesn't seem like a dishonest guy, he got caught up wit Clemens and did it, his fault sure not taking anything away from him but I think if he was still doing it he would have been caught, not to mention look at his stats and how his body is holding up...

    What did Cruz say Fink?

I realize there's a big difference between Arod and Pettitte, although if you think Pettitte only did it once I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.

Cruz said something like he had a GI infection from like November to January and lost 40 pounds over the winter so he took PEDs to get back all the weight he lost. Hence why my joke was somewhat funny (at least in my own mind).

I honestly have no idea if Pettitte was doing them last year or not but I wouldn't be shocked or surprised either way though.

Gio Gonzalez and Danny Valencia (former Twin & Red Sox 3B now on Baltimore) were on the list but I guess during the investigation it was found that they didn't receive anything. Gonzalez was very vocal about never taking any PEDs and was quickly dismissed very early in the investigation process.
