Big if. But if the Heat (including Oden) are healthy I'm not sure how you attack them now.

 

With atomic weapons clearly.

Titus has stated that Oden feels he kept re-injuring himself because he felt pressured back into action before he was fully healed and ready to play. The surgeries themselves have actually all been clean and successful from what I've read. The reinjuries have been from not allowing the proper time to heal.

Hopefully this is true.

 

This is a huge deal if he is healthy.

Need I remind anybody that when he was last healthy in the NBA..the guy averaged 16.8 ppg and 12.8 rpg and 3.4 bpg per 36 minutes. That is insane.

and another number I keep pushing...The Blazers with Roy/Aldridge/Oden were 52-10.

If he is healthy (big if), this is the type of move that threatens the Bulls 72 win record. A Team without weakness.

One last thing on Oden.

Two very interesting teams had exclusive workouts with Oden. Heat and Spurs. After the workouts, both extended contract offers. it kinda matters when the Heat and Spurs both want you.

In all seriousness weren't you the one a few pages back that said he couldn't be a dominant player when I stated that if he is healthy he is huge for us?

If he -is- healthy and plays at a decent level, would we be able to retain him or is he one and done?

 

I think he said he couldn't be as good as Bosh, which I agree with.

 

He called him one dimensional, which is what I'm referring to.

 

That's pretty much consensus, no?

 

I think there is a difference between being a defensive player and being one dimensional. His per 36 doesn't scream one dimensional. He's a defensive player for sure but he isn't Ben Wallace in that he has no offensive capabilities.

 

I think that Oden probably isn't going to appear in Miami.

 

I agree, probably not. Though we don't know what we will get at all. Microfracture surgery helps build new healthy cartilage, so he a better chance of reverting to that Oden than say Bynum does of returning to his best form.

 

What are the possibilities next for the Heat? They still have the mini-mle and they still have open roster spots.

Mo Williams has been a strong rumor as we've talked here.

I've also been reading that with Oden maybe the team looks to move Joel Anthony. Don't know who'd take him.

I've also seen Al Harrington's name float around.

 

I hope Oden doesn't push Joel out. For all of his flaws, he's still a good defending big and that is pretty valuable for us. I'd like us to be in a position where we're relying on Oden as little as possible.

 

Not saying this is going to rear it ugle head again, but it WILL rear its ugly head again....Think about all the people that had it, and unless it is a very minor tear, it doesn't just heal on its own trust me. I just started swinging a golf club again and I had surgery in January, granted I am not an athlete like Melo but look at Milliner (still non-contact)....just judging by the pain he was dis[playing in the playoffs, didn't look minor you know?

 

No. I said that at his best he is still not as good a player as Bosh.

He's been pushed out for a year. Oden doesn't change that.

hmmmm. Not really. In the sense that he patrols the paint and blocks shots...yes. But as a team defender with speed and quickness...Bosh is a defender on par with Kevin Garnett. They are just different type of defenders.

 

Hmm. If Oden miraculously plays 70+ games, I can see him being a more valuable asset. Especially in the playoffs.

possible. Unless Bosh is instrumental in a gameplan. Like he was in the 11' ECF's vs. Chicago. or his work to snuff out the Celtics in 12'. Bosh has his moments as a dominant force. His problem is that he sometimes gets caught up watching Bron do his thing.

 

That's the thing...Lebron is a facilitator first, gow he was so inept offensively in the playoffs was odd.

it's a matter of "wait your turn", and "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

But Bosh could have been so much better offensively in the playoffs.

 

I don't think Oden plays in 70 games, and we don't need him to.
We keep him in rotation enough to keep his cardio up and get him in game shape. That's it.
We need him in the playoffs, that's it.

 

Its sick how much better he could make Miami...off the charts good, best team ever good.

If he's healthy I really have no idea how you attack this team.

Just don't know how likely that is, but considering the upside not much gamble to it.

Pretty decent. From a production stsndpoint it was very good. Not as huge fsn of your hosts but you have nothing to do with that.

 

Second this monumental erection for Pat Riley.

 

1st qtr you just step on oden's feet every time he tries to jump. When you hear the pop...mission accomplished

 

LOL Oden is not playing in first quarters. Miami needs him for like 60 minutes all season.
