James Walker @JamesWalkerNFL1m #Dolphins RT Dallas Thomas gets bull-rushed by DE Okpalaugo and he nearly falls into QB Ryan Tannehill. Not good. Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP1m McNutt can't hold on to a pass with Presley on him. Tannehill's throw wasn't perfect but McNutt should've held on. #Dolphins Omar Kelly @OmarKelly2m Marvin McNutt just dropped a catchable pass from Tannehill. He's really dropping the ball lately, literally and figuratively
I'm more comfortable with someone getting successfully pass rushed by Tristan Okpalaugo than I am someone getting pass rushed by Emeka Onyenekwu. I just wanted to say both their names in the same sentence.
Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero29s Both practicing should play Fri. RT @h_tisdell: any update on venon O and Jared O, still injured?” Have to admit I'd forgotten about them with all the other injury concerns, good news that they're likely to play Friday if true. I'm interested to see what Vernon looks like against other LT's, and if Odrick can take his camp form into the pre-season games.
Jamar tweeted me a few times couple of nights ago. He's not 100%. Coaches want him fully healthy before he practices. He's not far away. He said what some press are reporting isnt "accurate" regarding his injury. He's frustrated as the rest of us.
Chris Perkins @chrisperk31s Patterson INT. stepped in front of WR but didn't get number. Nice play. Not necessarily bad throw/decision by T'hill. James Walker @JamesWalkerNFL1m That's five picks for QB Ryan Tannehill in the past two practices. #Dolphins Omar Kelly @OmarKelly1m Dimitri Patterson stepped in front of a Tannehill pass to Gibson for an INT. Tannehill stared him down the whole play Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP1m Tannehill first pick of practice, Patterson stepped in front of Gibson #Dolphins Various views...
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly30s Tannehill throws a bullet to Keller in the seam that is a TD during 7-on-7 red zone work. Nice comeback from interception
Chris Perkins @chrisperk1m DL seems 2 b killing OL in 1-on-1 drill. No shock but u'd like 2 c improvement at some point. James Walker @JamesWalkerNFL1m #Dolphins DE Derrick Shelby just had a nice bull-rush over OG/OT Nate Garner in blocking drills. Chris Perkins @chrisperk2m Just looked over 2 other field & saw Olivier Vernon whip Jonathan Martin. Anecdotal, but not good. From OL/DL drills. And some more... Chris Perkins @chrisperk34s LT Martin and LG Incognito just held off DE Jordan & DT Odrick in 2-on-2. Sign of life from OL! James Walker @JamesWalkerNFL1m #Dolphins DT Paul Soliai just pushed Dallas Thomas back about five yards in blocking drills. Not a fair matchup.
Here's a full accounting of the Jeff Ireland double-up over the years: DE Phil Merling (R2) & DE Kendall Langford (R3) OG Shawn Murphy (R4) & OG Donald Thomas (R6) RB Jalen Parmele (R6) & RB Lex Hilliard (R6) WR Pat Turner (R3) & WR Brian Hartline (R4) CB Vontae Davis (R1) & CB Sean Smith (R2) OLB Koa Misi (R2) & OLB Chris McCoy (R7) ILB A.J. Edds (R4) & ILB Austin Spitler (R7) WR B.J. Cunningham (R6) & WR Rishard Matthews (R7) CB Jamar Taylor (R2) & CB Will Davis (R3) The only one of these in which you couldn't argue that the second pick outperformed the first pick is the Koa Misi/Chris McCoy duo back in 2010. However there was such a wide gulf between when the Misi pick was made (#40 overall) and when they took McCoy (#212 overall) that you honestly are tempted not even count that. I realize some would argue that Vontae Davis is a better corner than Sean Smith. That's yet to be determined. What we do know is that while the two were on the same team, Sean Smith won a starting job while Vontae Davis got demoted and then shipped off to Indy. I don't know what Vontae will make in terms of contract when he hits free agency but Sean Smith is making $6 million a year which literally made him the most expensive free agent CB in a market that had a lot of CB free agents. For the Dolphins, Sean Smith was the more successful player. Just a freaky coincidence when you lay it all out. Very strange.
Maybe our defense is just THAT good...and RT is facing the 85 Bears in practice everyday, yet y'all hating.
Not ready to hit the panic button on martin but this is starting to raise the eyebrow of one of his supporters... Namely me... Cause frankly as much as I like OV never really thought of him as a pass rusher.
I think Bumphis IF he can keep it going, i wont say improve because he's doing that already will make ppl forget about Binns. I think he will make an impact if he keeps those wheels rolling.
It's still early and this is just practice, let's see what he looks like after 3 preseason games. For instance, this is the next tweet from Chris Perkins about him after the one about getting owned by Vernon... Chris Perkins @chrisperk1m OL looks more organized. Incognito-Martin just handled Odrick-Vernon. Not bad. Getting an understanding/chemistry with Incognito could be more important than anything Martin does on his own at the moment.
yeah... i only watched the game on Sunday night so I could hear how Tristan's name was pronounced... thank you Al Michaels.
Ah, I see. Was thinking that was a pretty aggressive timeline. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Anyone know if there's any word on Starks? Saw he wasn't practicing again and wondered if there was any clue as to what's up. His absence from practice just seemed to come out of nowhere. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly22s Kelcie McCray picks off a deep, but short pass from Matt Moore during 11-on-11, but refs say he didn't catch it inbounds. Moore is OFF! Omar Kelly @OmarKelly28s Just about every throw Matt Moore is making is coming up short. There are wobblers. NOW I get why he didn't do 11-on-11s yesterday. Chris Perkins @chrisperk1m CB Brent Grimes on sideline tutoring rookie CB Jamar Taylor. rookie paying attention & asking questions. Good 2 c. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly2m RJ Stanford just broke up a poorly thrown Matt Moore pass to Jeff Fuller. His arm looks tired.
Yes it's early, but of the draft picks from 2013... I'm disappointed about Taylor and Thomas. Clearly Taylor is hurt so there's nothing to say there other than I'd like to see him on the field. Thomas though, this guy is not going to see the field this year, yet we will need to carry him on the roster. That's costing us a roster spot elsewhere... hence the disappointment.
Hopefully it's nothing major. I imagine (hope?) we'd have heard if it was a significant injury - eg something requiring surgery. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Also our best Guards spot. I'd rather see Coggy there if Martin plays next to him. Not great for Thomas but he was drafted as LG regarding his general play and position history.
he has 4 more game to fix it god damnit, eventually they will figure out that his best position will be inside and stop the shifting
