Greg Oden had his physical today.

    Passed with flying colors.

Full range of motion, cleared for court work.

Good for him. I hope he can salvage his career after all those knee injuries.

Awesome! From all ive read his injuries actually weren't that bad compared to some other knee issues. He just never took proper time to heal. Unlike Bynum who basically has crap knees for life.

Eh, perhaps a metaphor about MJ use as well.

To bad really, put the weed down son, million dollar deals do not grow on trees.

Who really cares if he likes to smoke. There is nothing wrong with it in a moral sense and it certainly doesn't make him a better player like a performance enhancer.

Leagues need to get rid of drug testing rules IMO

When you continue to engage in a behavior that will cost you tens of millions of dollars, for a momentary pleasure, you tell me if there is not a lesson in there?

This could be the one area Riley fell down on as his knowledge of drug use, and best believe Lakers and Knicks players when he was the HC did drugs as well, has changed for the young guys.

Basically, it is holding him back, he either drop kicks it or is playing in the Turkish league, his choice.

Holding him back in a performance sense or a red tape sense?

Performance, keep in mind one of the knocks on him was he was a very fragile personality, when you spend your days zooted, you do that to avoid dealing with problems.

It would be no different if it were booze, cough syrup, or food, substances when used to avoid dealing with issues are a negative.

He's avoidance of choice is MJ.

    That is ridiculous IMO

I personally do so to meditate and help -confront- my problems. So there goes that theory. It's like anything else, you can do it for whatever reason suits you. Just like you might eat chocolate to hide emotions....or maybe you just like the taste of chocolate.

Wrong or right, smoking weed is illegal and can cost you years off your career and a truckload of dollars.

It is what it is and to keep doing despite what you could potentially lose is nothing short of STUPID.

Beasley might be the biggest mistake in Heat history, and it was the one time where Riley should have trusted his gut instead of being swayed by his assistants (as he eventually was with Wade)

Riley knew the guy was bad news and tried to trade that pick but supposedly Spo and the rest of his guys wanted Beasley, which made sense at the time.

But if we had simpoly taken anybody else, we would've been even more unstoppable. Imagine the big 3 with Lopez/Westbrook or Kevin Love. Hell, even Mayo would've been a useful player for us.

While I believe the pot laws and rules are silly and should be changed and that some people can and do use it responsibly (.ie still fulfill their life's responsibilities), its naive to say that many aren't irresponsible users. My guess is that Beas does use it as an escape too often. I don't think he's shown much development or rounding out of his game. When that's the case people will assume you haven't put the work in and wonder what you have been doing instead. Getting busted for pot provides an obvious possible answer to that question.

I agree and my guess is that his immaturity leads him to smoke pot when he should be working on developing his game.

Yeah, so busy confronting problems MJ has to be involved.

Not buying it Bro, especially if there is persistent frequency of use to "confront problems".

How does one escape to confront?

This is Beas's issue, Riley misjudged recreational usage that he was accustomed to with the Lakers and Knicks, and use based on deeper seated issues that he was not used to dealing with in pro players.

Too bad no one on your team would share the ball with KD. And no one wants to play for a team thats going to be 2nd fiddle in NY for quite a while.

do you even have a basketball court to play on anymore? I hear they might move the garden to staten island. Near the garbage dump so the rangers fans feel more at home

I dont care what they do with the rangers. The knicks could play in rucker park and still be more relevant then the nets. Were you a nets fan when they played in Nassau Coliseum? What about when they played in jersey? If not, why now? If so, well then you know im right. No one cares about the nets. Theyre like a fly on the wall for the knicks, they can keep moving but eventually you forget they're there

Unlike other sports, I rotate between the celtics, nets and Knicks. The reason is becuase unlike other sports, the individual athelete plays a more prominent role and because the sport is unbelievably boring at its core. Before I was into basketball I liked the ABA Nets because of Dr J. I got into basketball when larry bird was drafted and became a celtics fan. When the knicks got bernard king they became my new york team because he was amazing to watch. Stayed with the knicks until the nets got petrovic and have been a nets fan since although I always root for the celtics too. The knicks haven't had a player I can root for since bernard king

Bottom line: when the nets and celtics play who do you root for? Thats your team. Either way enjoy neither one of those is winning the division. Neither are the raps or sixers.

Real fans dont rotate teams. It would be real easy for me to do throw on my Phil Simms jersey and my LT jersey along with my Nicks and Manning jerseys when the Dolphins have been bad. But the NYG have always been #2 for me. Bottom line pick your team and stick through the good and bad.

Hmmm, not sure I have a declared #2 team in any sport. Ofcourse some teams I want to see win in the moment but nothing concrete.

Oden had a press conference in Indianapolis today.
Said his rehab team suggested that he signed with Miami based on team's long term plan for Oden. Said he has a flight to Miami at 6 am Monday. Also mentioned all the regular "weee, I get to play with LeBron" stuff lol

THAT'S WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT THIS TEAM. I GET TOO ROOT FOR BOTH!!!!!! THE BROOKLYN CELTICS!!!!! [IMG]

First comes denial, then comes acceptance

[/QUOTE] I have been a fan of the Nets for over twenty years. I gave you the timeline. You seem upset that I didnt stick with the Knicks. The way I look at it is imagine if as a child I had chosen the Jets or Mets too root for. Would you deny me the chance to fix the error of my ways.
