Saw the first 3 episodes of Orange is the New Black on Netflix.

I'm liking it a lot. Think of Oz, but with chicks and humor.

That's on my soon-to-watch list. Netflix originals have been quite impressive so far. Kudos to them for having the foresight & brass to enter that arena.
So you're saying you won't be watching it with a tub of lotion and box of hankies?

FALLING SKIES is crazy uneven, IMO. I barely made it through the first season because of the cliche cheesiness. Season two was a remarkable improvement. This season has swung wildly between coolness and eye-rolling, look-at-my-watchness.

I gave up on Falling Skies this season, just couldn't watch it any more. The first two seasons were cliche, and had a family almost as bad as Terra Nova's, but still could be entertaining and I liked Pope's character. This season I just found myself fast-forwarding through chunks of each episode, so knew it was time to give up.

I'm on season 2 of Misfits from BBC.
About a group of 20'ish year olds who gain special powers following a crazy storm.
Was just gonna check it out to pass the time but ended up thoroughly enjoying it.
Gem of a show. Much better than the movie that copied it- Chronicle.
Thought it was gonna be more of a teen show but this definitely isn't for kids. Content is more American Pie-esque.

Great show, some good storylines and all with a healthy dose of laugh-out-loud humour, although probably not for anyone under the age of 18 as you say! The 5th season airs later this year over here, and it's going to be the last one. The first 3 seasons are quality TV, but for a certain reason (won't say why if you've only just started watching) I don't think season 4 is as good. It's still enjoyable, but I think they're going to end it at the right time.

It's on C4 over here, so I'm surprised it's on BBC America over there, but I suppose they must buy up the US rights of some British TV that isn't made by the BBC.

My bad, I probably just assumed it was BBC. I'm near the end of season 3. Spent the first half of the season getting used to the show w/o N****n, but it's still quality stuff regardless. Just such a fun creative show. If I were only able to watch 5 or 6 shows this would definitely be one of them.

No problem! To be honest, it's probably a bit too "risque" for the kind of shows that BBC usually make. C4 does a lot of shows that are near the knuckle, probably more like one of your cable channels. It also aims a lot of it's shows at the 18-25 demographic and, although I may be a bit beyond their target audience now :shifty:, I still enjoy some of them. I'm not a fan of this aiming shows/channels at a certain age demographic anyway, in my mind if it's a good show it's going to appeal to all age groups.

He's my favourite character in the show now, and a very good actor. I loved Nathan previously, as well as Kelly, and didn't like their replacements at first, but Rudy definitely grew on me. I'm not so keen on the other new characters, but then I suppose I didn't particularly like Simon or Curtis from the originals (Curtis in particular annoyed the **** out of me!). Plus the new females aren't as hot as Alisha. :shifty:

There was talk last year of a remake being done for the US market, but I don't know if that's still going ahead. I never get the point of remakes between UK and US shows, we both speak the same language so it's not as if we can't understand the originals (bar some local accents!). Plus 9 times out of 10, the remakes never live up to the original.

OK just reread this thread. My comments.

Phin....GoT is by far a show you should not be concerned about Sean Bean nor Jason Momoa AT all. Just make it through season 1...cause it ends awesomely. Not to mention you missed probably one of the greatest cinematic scenes in TV history late in season 3.

-Suits is indeed awesome but needs less Mike/Rachael and more Donna/Louis Litt.

    - Don't bother with the UK Being Human. Just like the U.K. Shameless it starts high but your inevitably wasting your time due to actors leaving the show.

    - Watch U.S. Shameless. Emmy Rossum's body deserves its own Emmy.

    - Recent best shows are: The Americans, Orange is the New Black, Orphan Black and Bates Motel.

    - Download Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. Amazing how many of those actors went on to at least OK careers to amazing careers. I don't think you can find higher ratios.

    - HBO/Showtime and AMC have all ordered multiple sci-fi pilots. Big because 2 have never done sci-fi and the other not in eons. Combined with SyFy making a return to the genre....Sci-Fi might be hitting a major comeback.

Agreed. I haven't watched the US versions, but both UK versions went downhill once the original cast members had left.

And, Phin, if you liked Simon from Misfits, he has a fairly major part in the 3rd season of GoT.

BTW, it's a shame no one here has started on "Rake"........ or "Top of the Lake" and "The Fall" for that matter. Those shows are epic for anyone enjoying superbly written/acted intellectual shows.

Anyone who hasn't checked out FX's "The Bridge" should probably catch up on it, especially if you're a fan of meticulous crime/drama shows of substance like Breaking Bad, Top of the Lake, or The Fall. It's about a Texas detective and a Mexican detective who join together to catch a serial killer who dropped off a bisected body precisely on the border of US & Mexico.

Very well done, perfectly cast, well-acted, intriguing, original crime/drama/mystery. Solid story line.
Great pace & depth, little to no filler space through the first 5 episodes that I went through last night. Only planned on watching the first 2 but couldn't put it down.
The attractive blonde lead actress, Diane Kruger, plays an astute detective with some sort of quirky social skills disorder, and she pulls it off fu**ing brilliantly, which helps suck you into the show.

Anyone watch "The League" last night? F***ing hilarious episode!
LOL at the strip club scene.... especially when they're playing pinball:

Dirty Randy [Seth Rogen]: I can't believe they have a pinball machine in here!
Rafi: I know, how cool is this right!
    Randy: THIS IS AWESOME!
Rafi: They're kinda just asking for an Accused type situation you know.
    Randy: What's that?
    Rafi: The Accused, the movie?
Randy: I've never heard of that movie.
Rafi: WHAT! OH-MY-GOD-DUDE, it's only like the GREATEST romantic comedy ever made!
    Randy: I love romantic comedies!"
Rafi: It's like Sleepless in Seattle meets The Proposal meets nonconsensual sex.
    Randy: Who's in it?
Rafi: Oh oh. that dude. umm.. Jodi Foster.
    Randy: He's my favorite actor!
Rafi: He was sooo good in it too.
Randy: He's such a great actor. He was so good in Nell.

    LMAO

Still don't know when the 3rd season of Sherlock is going to be shown, latest from BBC after previously saying Autumn 2013 is just "early 2014". :tantrum:

The US version of 'The Bridge' is on my to-watch list, the original Danish/Swedish version was fantastic and from phinsational's post it sounds like they've kept the female detective's social skills disorder which is one of the reasons the show was so unique and fun to watch. We don't seem to be getting the US version over here, seemingly because SKY are working with CANAL+ to make a British/French version called 'The Tunnel', so I may have to get the US one through *cough* other means *cough*...

The US version of The Bridge takes place on the border of US and a slummy, corrupt part of Mexico, so I wonder how much it differs in nature to the original since much of the show circles around culture.

Could differ a fair bit then, as the differences in culture between Sweden and Denmark are smaller. There was some play on the differences, but it wasn't a big part of the show.

I was thinking more of the difference between Denmark & Mexico b/c much of the American version is based on Mexican culture and the dynamic between US & Mexico at the Texas border [drug smuggling, illegal border crossing, Mexican law enforcement corruption, kidnappings in Mexico, and how different life is the moment you cross over from US to Mexico].

Although, the main gist of it still seems the same after reading a plot summary of Broen.
