I am going to be seriously crushed if D Keller is out for a long time with that knee injury. There's no newcomer on this roster that I was looking forward to more than Keller, he was set for a big season. Haven't been that disheartened for a hit since Keith Byars got hit in a similar fashion.

...time for Sims to step it up and become better than Egnew. I want to see Sims and Clay in our 2-TE sets

I truly thought he had a shot at 1000 yards this year and as a huge Purdue fan, and being at this game right now this destroyed me

Helmet to the knee/shin. Knee bent in one of the worst and most awkward of fashions in the opposite direction... looks TEXT BOOK ACL / MCL.

Was a very very dirty looking hit

Its a shame. He was going to be a huge part of this offense. I feel like this is going to hurt us. Egnew and Simms I dont think offer anything near what Keller does offensively. Not at this point. We need that right now, especially with the reports of how Tanny and Keller have really come together, we've seen it in the preseason too. This hurts if he's out a long period of time.

As for the hit... Dirty IMO. Helmet directly to the knee... Keller was almost defenseless to that hit. Just a kid trying to make a name for himself.

Such a shame, big loss for us if he's out for a long period of time.

All we can do is move on now... We've still got three big weapons IMO on offense in Wallace, Hartline, and Gibson.

    well, thats a damn shame.

At least Sims, Egnew, Clay seem to be doing okay this preseason.

Heartbreaking. Is what it is though. Injuries happen. Gotta have depth in the NFL. Sims and Egnew will have plenty of opportunities to grab reps. Despite Egnew's haters, he's got all the physical tools in the world to be a receiving threat. Hopefully he keeps making progress throughout the year.

If Detroit releases Joesph Fauria, we better put in a claim. That kid is a receiving threat. Athleticism, size, body control, ball skills, and soft hands.

Unfortunately theres a reason hes not still on the jets. Not saying he could have avoided this but the mans been injury prone for years.

EDIT: not for years, just last year.

That's really unfair. This has nothing to do with being injury prone. Just an unlucky, dirty hit.

I know last year was bad. I havent followed him nor the jets that closely. I do have a lot of friends who are jets fans up here. He may not have missed games but he often never did anything in them. Weird that he's missed so many starts. http://www.nfl.com/player/dustinkeller/1074/profile but he did never miss a game i guess until last year.

i remember in 2010, i think he had all 5 of those tds in the first 3 games.

Also makes me realize what little depth we seem to have on the team. Not much at Tight End, and really, not much across the board.

Nice, football wise those were some of our rivalries best years Brees vs Randle El. How do you think the bball team is going to look this year without Oladipo, Zeller and Watford?

I don't get the no depth at TE comments. Do other teams go 3 deep on starter worthy TEs on their squad?

Good, but not great. They have some good young talent to go with Yogi Ferrell, but they have some growing pains. I see 3rd or 4th in Big10 this season

Keller is done and we are really screwed at the TE position. Sims or Egnew are not really starters. Sims was falling all over himself tonight and Egnew doesn't seem like he can do anything productive until he's on the field against the 3's and 4's. This was devastating to our year. Just sucks.

    Well away from here
I think the players who will truly need to step up are both Miller and Thomas. I say those two as they are likely one and two on the depth chart. It is more likely that those two players will feature a bit more on terms of play calls for a couple of reasons. Clay is doing well in what hes doing but how much do you want to move him now that you have him doing what you believe he is best at? Also Sims is a better blocker than Egnew so he will likely get those duties IMO. Not that we have our TE's inline, but we need someone with a bit more bite than what I think Egnew provides there. Miller I think needs to become more of a weapon in the passing game.

When he dropped that catch on 3rd and 2 early on I was stunned. If he had kept his focus on the ball, he would have a nice if not huge gain. It was wide open and with his speed, that was a track meet.
