Brent Celek's name is generating some momentum out there. Might be a trade given the competition if he should be cut as is rumored. I am not sure what Miami will do.
Agreed. The first thing I thought when Keller got hurt was, "fvck". The second thing I thought was ERod just made the team. The third thing was I really, really wanted steak and eggs. I have no explanation for this one, I just really want steak and eggs right then and now.
Our OL is thin because of years of failing to acquire depth, every offensive lineman that we've taken after the 1st round has been a disappointment so far, Martin, Jerry, Murphy, Gardner, Dallas Thomas, all the UDFA's as well like Samuda, Andrew McDonald and countless others, all these other bums that we signed, Smiley, Grove, Hicks, Murtha, Yeatman, Berger, Cook, Mcquistan, Feinga, Procter, Adams....NONE of these guys have panned out... in fact the one ****ing diamond in the rough we found in Donald Thomas, we foolishly cut. It's just pathetic.
Released: Baker, Josh Boss, Kevin Brock, Logan Caussin, Mike Eldridge, Brody McCoy, Anthony McMichael, Randy Morrah, Cameron Rosario, Nelson Saunders, Weslye Thomas, David UFA: Beckum, Travis Cooley, Chris Epps, Dedrick Mastrud, Jeron Rucker, Martin http://www.nfl.com/freeagency
Friend of mine met Kurt at a chess tournament some years ago, and he said he was surprised how small of stature Kurt is in real life. Never get that impression from his movies. He's listed as 5'11. My friend is just over 6' even and didn't think Kurt was close to that size.
I thought he was funny in Overboard. He played a really good psychopath in Death Proof. Seen some old episodes last year of Laredo. Kurt was a kid, and guest starred playing an Indian kid.
Bad *** is not the same as awesome. For example, Kurt Russel has never done anything in real life where the only reaction you can give is a confused but admiration filled slow clap and standing ovation.
What specifically has all the names on your Awesome Tree done in real life to bring to give a confused slow clap and standing ovation, other than Art Donovan?
It's about getting downfield and getting your damn upper body around and into position with ease and some speed, need to see more Erod but he might have some skill there..
The list includes everything from a spoken word Rocket Man to dying on the toilet to having a spiritual awakening so deeply profound, you change your name from Dog to Lion. Basically, if you have to ask why any of these names are on the list, then you simply don't understand what awesome is.
I wouldn't look for anything but a waiver type to be acquired at this point. It's just a shame that Dallas Clark already signed with the Ravens 5 days ago. Timing is everything. The Dolphins have invested in this position unlike years past when I had a big complaint about how little they invested in the position behind Fasano. They've invested 3rd, 4th and 6th round picks in the backups. I'd look for them to see how deep the rabbit hole goes on them as opposed to trying to make some desperation trade like Brent Celek or Tony Moeaki. Dallas Clark would've made way too much sense, but that ship has sailed. Clay Harbor could be a guy to keep an eye on if he's cut. Someone on twitter told me they've been following the Packers closely and there's a lot of speculation D.J. Williams isn't going to make it. That would be another guy to look at in a waiver situation. I would be all over Joseph Fauria but it's no secret I've had it for that guy for years.
Even if I went to google and saw this one did this and that one did that, how am I to know which of their awesome feats were the ones that landed them on your personal list of awesome?
Yes, it is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I was just curious what exactly that particular group of fellows, other than Arty Donovan, could have done to make the venerated Fin D Awesome list. As for Arty, there were plenty of reasons for him to make any awesome list. Been a fan of that man since I was a wee tyke. The Colts were my team before the Dolphins. The real Colts. The Baltimore Colts. Johnny U, Gino, Curtis, Matte, Lenny, Ray Berry, Parker et al. Ordell Braase too, the best football player name ever.
Maybe take a look at Todd Heap or Travis Beckum. Also, I wonder where Chad Clifton is health wise and maybe Lydon Murtha is worth another look if he's healthy. As always, I'm still pissed off about Donald Thomas.
There's been a lot of discussion of our backfield here lately, and rightfully so, imo (it's a problem). For Saturday against Tampa... Tampa has their own RB battle going on, but in a good way: they have 4 guys playing really well, plus an intruiging, explosive KR/RB in Michael Smith (and maybe Jeff Demps returning from track?). It's probably their tightest position battle right now; one or more of the Bucs guys won't make the roster. Doug Martin and Brian Leonard appear to be safe for the 53 at this point, but Mike James (who was fantastic last week), Peyton Hillis, and Michael Smith are all fighting hard to make it. I'd take Mike James over Gillislee based on the past couple weeks (and the U connection, of course), and there is a chance Tampa tries to PS him. Peyton Hillis, surprisingly, appears to have some pop left as well, though I don't know I'd pull the trigger there. I posted earlier about Michael Smith as a likely cut, and he still does interest me if Gillislee remains quiet/unimpressive like he has. Just a side note as something to watch with our opponent in our game this week.
Some more names to keep an eye on. DE Phillip Hunt - With the Dolphins now stuck in neutral with respect to Dion Jordan and his frustrating, unprogressing shoulder recovery, the team recently signed Antwan Applewhite to take part in training camp. By doing so, they signaled that they need a pass rush specialist with some skins on the wall in case Dion misses games. I like where their head is at and I think Applewhite is a decent signing relative to what's available. However when/if Phillip Hunt gets cut, he might be a nice longer term project for that position (he just tore his ACL a week ago). Back in 2011, Hunt burst onto the scene by producing 18 pressures (2 sacks, 1 hit, 15 hurries) in only 105 pass rush snaps. That was a Cameron Wake-like ratio, and that's not an exaggeration. He was about 60/40 left versus right and definitely more effective on the left but it's tough to say whether that was just a sample size issue or not. The next year for example he was more like 80/20 left versus right and this time much more efficient on the right. All in all the numbers from the right are good in the two years, 50 snaps with 6 pressures. I doubt he's the type of Cameron Wake longer term solution but he'd be a guy I'd love to have on roster in 2014 to see if he gives us something we end up needing. Phil Hunt is only one of a bunch of Philadelphia Eagles I would keep an eye on. Others include ESPECIALLY offensive tackle Matt Tobin whom I have a full man crush on, as well as fellow tackle Michael Bamiro for whom the Dolphins got into a bidding war with the Eagles. The safety position is loaded. There's talk that Kenny Phillips could be let go and despite health issues I believe he would be the veteran presence we need among the backup safeties. We're an injury away from guys like Kelcie McCray and Keelan Johnson, whom we know next to nothing about as far as how they'll perform in games. They have not been good in preseason. The alternative is putting in Jimmy Wilson. He's more of a known quantity...a player you already KNOW is awful. The other guy there that I have always loved going back to his days at Iowa State is David Sims. High work ethic guy, athletic, very well built though short. This is a paper thin position for Miami and I would take either of these safeties. The linebacker positions are also thin in Miami and so I would keep an eye on two guys the 49ers have been featuring in Michael Wilhoite and Nathan Stupar. They could get caught up in the numbers game there, though it's tough to imagine based on their performance. On that note the Saints have five inside linebackers and one or two of them could get caught in the numbers game. Their top guys Curtis Lofton and Jonathan Vilma are well established. The other three are Kevin Reddick, Ramon Humber and David Hawthorne. Based on preseason performance you would keep Reddick and Humber, and toss David Hawthorne. But Humber is a former UDFA that graduated in 2009 and Reddick is a UDFA from this year, whereas Hawthorne has some skins on the wall. Ramon Humber in particular was outstanding in the Oakland game.
I guess now that I think about it, the Dolphins might not want to claim him if the Eagles do waive/injure him. They might be better off just re-visiting him when he gets healthy.
I wonder if there are any players on the Dolphins roster that teams are keeping an eye on in case they're cut. Thinking maybe some of the big bodied DLs like A.J. Francis, Tracy Robertson and Tristan Okpalaugo.
I hope they do not remake The Warriors. It's a cult classic movie and IMO any remake would just not do the original justice.
Just like so many others that should never be remade because they lose the intent/value of the original - Last House on the Left is one that comes to mind.
