Shockey is only 32. I've seen worse suggestions. :shifty:

although, Shockey probably doesn't fit with what our coaching staff likes from an open his mouth perspective

It's probably true but no news release indicating the injury. Wishful thinking but it's most likely he's done.

Damn thats just so....UNFORTUNATE. The respect from opposing defenses that Keller would generate running the middle of the field, and opening up the outside for Wallace and Hartline....this just sucks.

This a a big blow but injuries to key players happen all the time in the NFL. IMO, the TE on our team that could most fill the void is Clay, but he will have to further elevate his play. I wouldn't be adverse to trading for the right TE if available although some of the FA mentioned (Shockey, Heap for example) should be looked at to see if their skill levels haven't eroded much.

I sincerely from the bottom of my heart wish Swearinger a very short professional career.

As in, I hope he's bagging groceries within 2 years.

I can't believe people are mentioning Shockey.
I don't want that puke anywhere near this football team.

i feel bad for keller, but stuff like this is going to happen with all the concussion stuff going around, players are going to go low. the dolphins drafted 2 tight ends within the first 100 picks of the last 2 drafts, it is time for them to develop and step up to the plate.

Samuda... yeah he's better at C than G... Incog could move to C but of course that leaves LG open... ......... Garner could play C if Jerry came back RG. Best option is Samuda IMHO.

I feel bad for Keller and his loss obviously hurts our offense.

However, why are people blaming Swearinger? He hit Keller low, but so what? Happens all the time.

Sometimes people just get hurt. It sucks. That's life.

    Good grief.

@AdamSchefter: Dolphins TE Dustin Keller tore his ACL, MCL, PCL and, as if that weren't enough, dislocated his knee, per source.

Re: Keller Done For The Year

Some people will make the point that it was a meaningless preseason game and he didn't have to go as low as he did with helmet directly on knee... And I agree with that. On the flipside Mr. Safety Goodell needs to watch this a few times and realize that policing one area of a guys body on injuries will only amplify them on other parts.

Right and think about honestly here for a minute, they right now do not have any pass catching ability from that position, just an awful awful injury.....pass catching tight ends are so important in football today....

argh.. that's a very difficult thing to come back from. ACL is one thing, but three ligs and a knee dislocation. It's possibly career ending.

    Keller Done For The Year

AP had the same thing minus the dislocation, but no one is a freak of nature like AP, thats a heavy road on the recovery, he has the time to do it..the only positive

The NFL would rather have defenders execute what is known as a tackle.

Have you heard what defensive players are saying these days. With the speed of the offensive players you can't execute a tackle the way you are taught in high school.
You have to use every means necessary to get these guys on the ground.

We hear it... Still a ****ty hit... Helmet right to knee... You don't have to do that when you go low. Let alone in a preseason game. I do blame the leagues rules mostly though.

Why would the Eagles trade a starter they just signed this offseason? May as well say you'd trade for Antonio Gates if the Chargers would do it. The Eagles base offense is 2 TE. Casey and Celek are the starters. There is no one listed as FB. That would be Casey if they line up in that formation. If the base offense is 2 TE, you're likely carrying 5 on the 53.

The luck of this time is still at such a low - has been for years. We finally are turning the corner skill wise and then this happens.
