Pisass......piss off... Just about hour ago I was prepping some food and your steak and eggs joke pooped back in., I literally choked bro, shi$ got caught.
He also didn't open the Jags game. Clay was the starter at the Y, with 3 wides and a single set back.
There are a few name that I can think of for younger guys with DJ Williams being the beat but I do.t know if he is any more consistent than Clay. If we go vet, I want heap and that's it. Otherwise, let's play ball and hope this is our only major injury.
We really don't know if Dez was off the board. Maybe we'd have took him at 28. Ireland's question may have just been leading up to his trying to get Dez to get him some discount coupons if we had drafted him.
No, [Deleted]. Because some friend of a friend who "heard" something but can't tell you where he heard it is not exactly a great source of information that is likely to be held secret by both teams.
Not a reasonable possibility. Heck, if the Eagles trading a talented young starting TE for a 5th rounder is a possibility, we may as well say the Chargers could possibly trade Gates to us too.
Agreed. Philly even lined up twice with a FOUR TE set. Possible trade bait. Tony Moecki? (Sp?) or Jacob Tamme might be available....been hearing they got a new guy there that is just outright beating him.
You have your primary blocking TE in Dion Sims, who has some athleticism and pass catching ability. You have your pass catching TE/weapon/seam buster in Charles Clay. You have your athletic wildcard with size in Michael Egnew. You have a potential jumbo TE with athleticism and decent hands for power sets in backup LT Will Yeatman, a former TE and darned good athlete, albeit a very large one now. Losing Keller is horrendous, but it is what it is. TE by committee will probably be the way to go from here imo. Hindsite is 20/20, and I do like Dion Sims, but in a perfect world it would have been nice to pick up undrafted TE Zach Sudfeld, I'd imagine that he's most likely going to make the Patriots final roster- if for whatever reason they try to stash him on the practice squad I'd swoop in and grab him.
Well, to me a good team, a well run team, has the backups prepped and ready to step in and play well, the real problem here is Egnew is the nature replacement for Keller, but no one really trusts him in Dolfandom World. At this stage of things, doubtful a Te shows up on the trade market, I liked Rucker coming out, but he is also a Egnew style MO Te, lots of physical talent very little in the way of results. To me, we'd probably be better served giving Egnew/Sims the reps in Keller's role and adding a blocking Te then trying to find the Donald Lee in the haystack, go with the youngster and ride it out.
I expect we'll see more 3 WR sets as a result of this injury. My guess is that they were planning to have 2 TEs formations and/or 3 WRs formations as their main two looks. I got the impression they were favoring the 2 TE look for it's protection and run game benefits. They'll probably switch that now and favor the 3 WR look more at least until (or if) Sims or Egnew steps up bigger than they've been. Either that or we should just try and sign Lebron. LOL
We have the same number of blocking TEs now as we did with Keller in the lineup (arguably 1). I don't see the need to go out and add a blocking TE.
No with Jacob Tamme. Julius Thomas and Virgil Green are doing well there with Joel Dreessen back by the start of the regular season. Something might shake loose there. Tony is down to 3rd on the depth chart in K.C. He's a durability issue. Depends on how sick of his durability issues K.C. is with him.
Way I see it, now that our Wr type Te is out for the year, every player moves up 1 slot, Egnew moves to Keller's role, Clay moves into more of a Te role instead of an H-Back, and Simms moves into Clay's role. Of course it's all very fluid atm Also think worth pointing out Thigpen can handle a lot of the slot/position flexibility stuff
I'm still pretty bullish on Charles Clay. The guy clearly has pretty high upside, and I think you can hope that being pushed into a primary role will help him click. I'm just skeptical that the coaching staff is that confident in him lining up next to the Tackle. They've done it here and there, but it's still a minority of snaps even in this offense.
I think Keller had a decent chance of having the best tight end season we've ever had..I just don't remember us ever being lethal at the position so I don't think that statement is that far fetched.
True, then again it costs a coach nothing to say that sort of stuff. Objectively, his blocking has improved, he is far more physical now, real question is where he is at as a Wr, we have 3 more games to find out at least.
Just game plan the tight end out. Sims/Clay to run block in short yardage situations, otherwise spread it out with 4 wide or 3 wide fullback and halfback. You don't need a tightend in your offense to score. There are plenty of ways to skin the cat offensively, with a blocking tight end or a spread offense. Hell, I would like to see some 3 wide and Thomas/Miller backfield formations and use both of them out of the backfield, in motion, or H-slot. One of Brady/Bellichek's biggest accomplishments IMO is they design their offense to their strength of weapon. One year it is WR, then they did the TE thing and now this year they are back to a more balanced chemistry.
They may not have him line up on the line as much as they would have Keller (although I still say it'll be close), but what I mean by him being the #1 is when you look at the snap counts at the end of the day, Charles Clay is your #1 guy at that position.
The speed that Keller has getting down the field clay does not have..Keller posted a sub 4.5 comin JT, clay sub 4.7..I think I'd rather go with Erod at tight end, and clay at fullback.
Dustin Keller was never destined to be as big time a threat down the field as people thought, IMO. That touchdown that Tannehill threw to him was fantastic but I didn't really expect that to happen very many times like that. Where I think they'll miss his speed is the speed with which he gets into the holes between the zones underneath. You could dial him up on a lot of quick passes and he'll be there because he gets off the line and into his breaks so fast. But I think Charles Clay can make some plays.
Is Green Bay's Andrew Quarless even practicing at the moment? I haven't seen him on any of the stat lines at PFF. There's a guy I wouldn't mind looking at if healthy. Here's a nice little article about other options at tight end: http://www.thephinsider.com/miami-d...3502/dustin-keller-injury-knee-miami-dolphins
I like Tony Moeaki (sp), think he is undervalued. I'd keep him in mind, the real problem is the Te does so much in the offense whomever we acquire will be far behind the learning curve. So I suspect we just play the hand we have been dealt.
You may be on to something here. Combine 40 times: Clay, 4.69 @ 6027 245 lbs ERod, 4.53 @ 6014 240 lbs Egnew, 4.52 @ 6051 252 lbs Sims, 4.68 @ 6047 262 lbs ERod was mainly a TE in college, and was invited to combine as an H-Back
