Preseason game #4 out of 5. I'll be looking for.... 1) John Jerry's performance at RG (if he gets the start) 2) How Clay, Sims, Egnew and Rodriguez are used at TE 3) Do we use other formations, personnel groupings or sets more with Keller gone (i.e. more 4-wide sets, or pro-set I-formation with three wide and two backs in the backfield) 4) Tannehill. 5) My three-to-watch players: Sims, Davis and Matthews 6) Who gets snaps at #2 CB and nickel CB with the 1st team. 7) Can we run good, cleanly executed plays on our first series rather than our fourth one. 8) Rushing YPC and Passing YPC begin to be more interesting to me now as we are closer to what the overall offense will look like. 9) How well did our coaches gameplans on D, O and STs work 10) Would like to see a big return from STs. They've been quiet as they auditioned people back there. Let's see what our 1st string return team and Thiggy can do. 11) Sturgis 12) Ellerbe in coverage 13) Misi and OV on contain 14) Use of Odrick vs use of Starks. How will they platoon/play them now that Starks is coming back? 15) Does Jamar Taylor make an impression? 16) Any hurry-up offense? Can we establish some rhythm and flow? 17) Miller vs DT 18) DT vs Grey 19) Gillislee needs a good showing to avoid risking being cut. He's been unimpressive so far. 20) Does Jelani Jenkins have a bad game (that would put him at risk, imo, as a surprise cut) a decent game or a strong game? 21) Does Austin Spitler continue to play his way off this roster? 22) Pick One: Freeney or Robinson 23) Jimmy Wilson (a little more job security with Marshall gone, but not that much more) 24) Second string safeties, show me something. 25) Can AJ Francis string two strong games together? This game has more interesting storylines, and more at stake for the players, than any game so far this preseason. What will you be looking for?
26 ) For everyone to come out healthy and ready to go for Cleveland. I'm assuming the starters will play into the 2nd half, as has been the custom with the NFL in recent years...all out in the 3rd game and last look at cuts and don't risk the starters in the last game. (Not counting HOF game as game 1 but rather a glorified scrimmage)
Tannehill should play all of the first three quarters and the first quarter in our last preseason game. He needs all the game experience he can get. I wouldn't expect to see anything from the backup safeties, IMO we have a significant problem there. I think the Dolphins need to look outside the organization for a safety, especially now that Marshall is gone. If DT stays perfectly healthy he will continue to look like he has promise, but as soon as he gets dinged up a little his game will fall off the table. TRADE THIS GUY! Jamar Taylor will be a good CB for us. I'm sure of it. I really hope he is healthy and able to step up because I think our secondary will be much better with Patterson playing nickel. Will Davis obviously isn't ready. I didn't like the move to trade up and draft him. Maybe he can be nickel next year. Dolphins should sign OLB Thomas Howard and cut Trusnik and Spitler, and Kaddu shouldn't even make the practice squad. If we were to add some quality depth to this defense it could be a top five this year. Of course everybody should be intently watching the OL. This OL is everything to this year's team. It is the key that will make or break this team. If this OL can come together, gel, and stay healthy we have a shot at the division title. If they stink it up...............we could end up picking in the top 5 in next year's draft, even with a great defense.
I just wanna see a fast start, no sacks allowed within the first 5 snaps would be nice too, also Lamar Miller running away with the starter job
Want the offense to look crisp and the D to know their assignments. Would like to see something out of specials as well.
1. Single cheerleaders 2. People who sit their beer down and aren't guarding it 3. Drunk chicks who might be encouraged to pull their shirts up in support of the team.
First I must say this preseason has looked much like I expected. We have a bunch of new players, and I think the offense is slowly finding its groove. 1. The RG situation needs to be figured out for sure. 2. Pass protection needs to start strong. 3. I agree, Miller needs to come out fast and furious, but I also agree with ck on DT. 4. I'd like to see the D to go lights out, I mean really put one on them. 5. Z package, which I'll be surprised if they don't start out with. Either way though, I think Ireland will be watching the waiver wire like a hawk, and possibly already has some plans, given the Marshall cut.
YES...For the love of all that is aqua and orange..please bare your boobies Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Runningback battles - ours and Tampa's, which is their tightest position competition right now. Bucs playing well thusfar but potentially cut from their deep backfield - Mike James, Michael Smith, and even Brian Leonard would interest me as Phins. I'd like to see either Miller or Thomas actually PLAY like an NFL feature back, but I fear we're in for split carries for a little while until one of them asserts themselves as worthy of 20ish carries per game. Agreed that Gillislee needs to do some good stuff to make the 53, otherwise I could see us checking the waiver wire (always some solid RBs there, like the Bucs guys) and trying to PS him. I'm curious to see more of Brandon Gibson too, just in general. Tampa has skill on the outside with V Jackson and M Williams, but their passing game has been a total disaster with Freeman out there. I want to see us take advantage of that and continue to make them struggle. They can run it, but Freeman has been awful (talk of Glennon starting at some point this year) and I'd like to see us dominate that first string because I think we can and should. Maybe with a turnover or two.
John Jerry and Lance Louis's asses...I'm not depending on lance Louis, because before he went down with the acl, I'm pretty sure he did not take care of his body and what went in it as a prof, so no way am I gonna believe once he got injured he was gonna demonstrate the discipline needed to stay in reasonable condition. The reasons some of the great athletes come back from the acl so quickly and don't look like they miss a beat is because their in tremendous condition when the injury takes place, the muscles around the injury, stabilizers are developed, and it give the injury a head start..I don't believe this is the case with Louis. Like to see if Jerry has been eating twinkles for three weeks, in his case, I doubt it, I'm hoping turner was texting him every day. Whether Lamar miller has an once of aggressive nature in his style..run with a fu&$in attitude will ya, geez man, that's one thing I'll give credit to Thomas, he may not see things clearly, but at least he runs with a freakin attitude.. I'm hopin Jamar Taylor can go, reports were he's having trouble with the hernia.. I'm pretty sure what Tannehill is gonna be in terms of extending a play, but I'm always looking for quicker movements from his body, and a quicker awareness..He may have great athleticism but it's not the kind that translates into maneuverability in the pocket. I'm glad Patterson won the job, thought he would going into the competition..wanna watch him to see if my eyes aren't playing tricks on me, and that he does trail the receiver a lot closer than Marshall did, which is essentially a corners job. Big sexy. Wanna see if Misi's confidence takes a big jump after the way he played in coverage last week, what an outstanding play that was.. I think I've seen enough of Kelcie McCray, our depth is bad at safety..maybe take a closer look at Jordan Kovacs..if Marshall doesn't get an offer, resign him for half.
Hey Dolphin fans watch for Jace Daniels Number 73 of the Bucs. He is from my hometown. He is one of the only players ever to possibly make it in the NFL from my hometown. If you guys can let him make some big plays so he makes the team lol.
Don't expect him to play. Why risk it. From how Coyle responded to questions about whether Dion will be ready for the first game of the regular season, I think he needs a few weeks rest.
I think most importantly is to look at our starting offense, this should be their longest action of the preseason, its important to see how they function now without Keller, and important to see them actually come out and have a good start. Consistency from Tannehill. Hope he picks up where he left off. Better OL play. Seeing Jerry at RG. With the release of Marshall... be interesting to see how our CB position looks with Patterson, and the two rooks.
DJ ..... Only you can get away with.... What will you be looking for in the game against Tampa? And you reply....offensive linemen's Asses. And be completely and utterly serious about that statement!!!!!!!!!
i think that shoulder injury will bother him the whole year, if you having pain in that area, why would it be going away on the next day all of a sudden, he needs rest but thats not an option after week 1, so it will be interesting to see how he handles that
How on earth could you be pretty sure of this unless you know him and were around him on a regular basis? Also, are you saying that his allegedly eating a few too many double whoppers with cheese contributed to his injury?
I'm saying I've looked at his body, and imo, he looked soft, and from what I've seen thus far, he looks softer..and when your soft and you get an injury that takes you off your feet, your recovery period will not be as good as if your weren't soft to begin with.. And yes, if you don't take care of your body, and you eat like ****, you are more susceptible to injury, why you ask, because if your fat *** was in shape and functioning optimally, you would be quicker, which could of been the difference of a tenth of a second, and that tenth of a second could of been the difference to avoid the timing of the injury.
It's all about the O-line and how they play. Next it will be how they use the TE's and Halfbacks.Someone needs to show me something. Not concerned with the D. Just don't want to see injuries.
He got hit from behind when he hurt his knee as I recall. The fastest lineman in the league couldn't have gotten out of the way. Before the injury, he was one of the quicker more mobile guards in the league.
the tampa bay training facility had to be cleared from a staph infection virus, i hope they don't bring that ****ty thing with them
I want, no, I EXPECT, to see the receivers make their secondary look broken, our defense smack the living s*** out of some people (not in the knees like cowards though), the O-line look "good", the STs continue their uber play, +2 turnover differential, and a return for TD FFS! Whether it's on D or ST, I don't care...make it happen ladies!!!
I expect tampa to win. Not because they're better but because they are 0-2. Coaches want at least one win in preseason so they will take it more seriously than us. Other than that I will look at the only thing that will determine hOw good or bad we'll be thgis season ....the offensive line. Our d will be fine but if our oline sucks its another year out of the playoffs. That and a injury free game
Without getting long winded I want to see a couple of things.... 1) NO injuries. 2) OL continue to gel. Be that JJ or LL or whoever, but someone NOT to be a sieve along the OL. 3) NO injuries. 4) The first O to come out quick and fast. Do something good on the first drive... 5) NO injuries. 6) The LBers and Ss to hold the TEs in check. 7) NO injuries. 8) Matt Moore to look like the backup QB that we thought he was. 9) NO injuries. 10) A few individuals: Thomas vs Miller, Clay/Rodriguez/Egnew and how they'll be utilized and how they'll step their play up, Taylor and his development (can he be a difference maker and worm his way into the secondary), Kelcie McKray...he has disappeared as of late... There are still a few spots to be had on the 53...who will they be?? Did I mention NO injuries....
I prefer they bring it with them to the visitors locker room and we don't clean the room afterwards. Let the patsies and jests get it when they visit us. I'm sure it's a tactic belichick would use and the NFL would be ok with it if it was him.
Tannehill to build off the strong Texans game, Jerry to play well, and most importantly (outside of Tannehill) is I want to see Jamar Taylor ball out, we cut Marshall and I have to believe it has to do with Taylor playing again and hopefully doing it at a high level. and of course..... NO INJURIES!!!!!
1) Obviously Tannehill for continued improvement 2) Matthews/McNutt/Tyms/Bumphis for the 4th and 5th WR positions 3) To see how well both John Jerry and Lance Louis are playing and recovering from their injuries 4) Back-up LBs -- I'd like to see some/more quality than what I have 5) At DT, there looks to be a logjam of players to make the team with Randall/Francis/Martin/Robertson... Martin is listed as a DE, but I think he's played both (I could be wrong) 6) More Jamar Taylor 7) Both the O-boys (not Odrick) -- umm... Onyenekwu and Okpalaugo --- seem to be long shots to make the team, although they're not without talent... wondering if either can make a late push. It might be the last chance for at least one of them. 8) How Jonathan Martin looks in the one pre-season game where they game-plan part of it like a regular season game Had Barry already covered all this?
I will be looking for the officials to discriminate against the dolphins and if another dolphin player gets injured and no fine I will be on the warpath .
