Nothing against Hugo....I like his writing but, he's got no more clue about what Taylor will do than anyone else does. Not saying he's wrong, but, still, just another fan's opinion which is far from the fact that the title of the article suggests.

Just for the record, the title of my article does not refer to fact. It refers to reality sinking in.

Also, I'd like to believe I have a slightly different perspective and access being that I've covered the team for going on 4 years. That being said, it is still my opinion. It's not like J.T. called to tell me he's staying in Miami.

Then again, that's what this piece is...an opinion column.

I have learned to tune out the speculations.....and that all there has been so far .

As Winston Churchill would have said
Never has so much speculation been made about so little factual news.

    Nice writeup Hugo

For sure. But theres a difference I think. Its pointless to get all riled up on nonsensical fictitious speculation. Ive caught myself getting pulled in by the BS media speculatory crap that is spewed from 99.9% of them. Make no mistake, we can all tell the difference (Most of us) between good speculation, and someone just writing a bunch of nonsense to sell more papers or get more hits on an internet website. (ie.. One certain DB Miami Herald reporter we are all aware of...)

You are missing the key word: "Probably"....

I can't tell if when you refer to 4 years you are saying that you have a 'fresh' set of eyes, or that you have 'experience'. I think the majority of people around here have probably been following the fins for much more than 5 years, more than 15 years I think in most cases. The Wanny years were already quite a while ago. I still remember the sad expression on Shula's face when we lost to the Jets and he pretty much knew that JJ would be replacing him...

Okay....like I said, I like your work, no offense....But, " Reality Sinking In, Taylor Likely to Stay a Dolphin" is more correct, IMO.....When I saw the title for the first time, the word "will" is what got my attention....I thought, here's something I may not have seen before....Here's somebody that is making a declarative statement that I've not seen anyone else make....I wonder what he knows....turns out, nothing really....obviously it was my mistake for taking the title literally however, that's the way it came off to me and that's why I voiced my opinion. I was just trying to help out others who may have been confused by your headline, as I was.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

@infinsible - no sweat. I know what you're getting at, but sometimes you have to make declarative statements, especially in titles. Granted I could be eating crow soon, if Taylor moves on.

@THCman - what I'm saying is that there's a different between being a fan and covering a team on an almost daily basis. Not that I'm some "holier than though" columnist who thinks that my opinion is worth more than that of the fan base. It's just a little different when you do it professionally is all I'm saying.

Just out of curiosity...what kind of access do you have to the team?.....full press credentials?

That would be sweet, and I'd be jealous.

I liked the article. It gives us an inside look at JT OFF the field. Sometimes its nice to hear that type of thing. Especially THIS time of year. It is much better than reading about another athlete getting into trouble........AGAIN.

    Nice write up Hugo...but...

did you think maybe Taylor being a Dolphin might mean he will retire as a Dolphin this year?

Well said infins...I've said this about his sites' articles before...Somehow, when one of their articles gets posted here, some seem to think they are 'real media' folks..not just other fans like us...

Again, no disrespect to anyone on that site, but it's just another opinion....

By that logic, all opinion columnists are not "real media" folks.

Not for nothing, but it sounds like sour grapes to me, or lack of appreciation for what it takes to write a full piece on a particular team on a year-around basis.

And again, thanks to all of you folks that shared the kind words! It makes the hard work worthwhile.

Hugo, I'm sorry I offended you...that was not my point. The writing on your site is fine, but it's just opinion. You can argue that the Herald, et al are opinions as well, and have a good point. The fact is that this particular article is rather stating the obvious that we know already...

Again, my intention was not to be disrespectful to you or your writers or the work they put in. I am not personally sold on them as journalists.

    It's no sweat, Larry.

But I do want to point out that on the one hand you say that you mean no disrespect, but then you go on to question me and my colleagues.

Just so you know, every single columnist on the site works or has worked for a daily newspaper or is a published author.

In any case, it's no skin off my nose. We've got nearly a quarter million visitors that come through each month to read our stuff, so one man's validation or lack thereof won't hurt.

I just think that you're confused the meaning of a "journalist". A journalist can be a reporter that breaks stories and reports news, but a journalist can also be a columnist that delivers opinions and insights.

Even quality bloggers are considered journalists these days, and I see nothing wrong with that.
