Overall our first team out-gained theirs by almost 3-1. Outside of the two STs screw-ups we played very well and looked like far and away the better team. Our offense scored on three of five drives although it would have been nice for more of those to have been TDs. At least RT put the passes there. I don't think you can rely on Clay. He only makes plays when the scheme gets him wide open. He can't seem to get separation on his own. The o-line was pretty solid in pass pro, but poor in their run blocking. Although TB might deserve some credit as they were the #1 run D last season. Too many penalties. That's probably my biggest surprise this preseason. Miller looked better. That's going to be his game, several short gains with the occasional big gain. He seemed solid in pass pro.

Pat Devlin is better than Geno Smith and Mark Sanchez.

I guess. But not every drive is a winner....for any team.

WADR, I feel like you're grading perfection is good and anything less is bad and worrisome. We were an excellent 1st string offense tonight, moving the ball at will.

Good stuff. Both these teams were 7-9 last year. I think we're going in the right direction, them not so much. Two mid-performing teams from 2012, we should have a better showing than them if we're really improved, and I believe we are...going away... Was it perfect? Of course not, but we're not the returning SB champs, or even a playoff team, but for this team, it was certainly progress in my eyes.

I also don't understand the Devlin hate. He moved the ball pretty well with the second stringers, while the 3rd string oline had him raped on every play. Dirty prison raped, where you're not allowed to scream.

What is Shouright? Or who is Shouright? Why does that name have anything to do with me? Ok, Whatever.

The D was solid, but not great. I dont think Grimes is great. I do think hes our best CB. A good offense tonight would have carved us up. I do like our Dline, I like our LBs sometime. I dont really like our DBs...other than Jones. Everyone else back there is either a rookie or some "hopeful". It could get ugly for us in our first 5 games, unless our DL can do enough to overcome deficiencies.

Offense..bad. I think if you guys watch Tannehill's throws..you will see, many of his throws are not where he would want them to be. Some of the dropped passes, although maybe should be caught, are not great throws. Starting in two weeks, he's going to be throwing the ball under serious duress. Don't believe what you are seeing from the OLine being serviceable. It is not, IMO.

ST...killed us. You would think a team with two excellent kickers would naturally have good STs. We dont. We dont cover punts or catch them well.

    Back in Miami
I continue to become more concerned about Tannehill.

It seems to me he is not reading coverages quickly enough and holding on to the ball too long.
Noticed it every game this preseason.
I was not at all impressed with a number of his decisions tonight either.
He made a number of throws into coverage and 2 flat out should have been INT's.

Still preseason and I get that but I am concerned about his development and the chance of a "sophomore slump".
On the flip side he had a couple of drives where he really seemed "on" and moved the ball well.

This kids progression is going to be one of the largest factors in our season.

    In case people are wondering:

For the whole preseason so far:

    Tannehill:

I dunno what the gnashing of teeth over our offense is about. We do that week in and week out, we're in the playoffs and possibly more with this defense on top of it.

It's looking that way. We don't see them practice, but in the 1st two games given the chance, he played very well and produced. We can only guess those 3 are starting to show more in practice since then and earning more reps. Since they play McNutt as the 4th WR, you'd have to think he is the 4th to make the team. Matthews has a year in the system and produced well before missing time with injury. He seems like the 5th to me. Tyms had a good game tonight, but no better than Bumphis did vs Dallas.

I saw him do that twice tonight, but one was incomplete (the one where he hobbled, first one was first down when Tampa started the drive from deep in the 2nd half).

It sure seems like you're attributing a muffed punt and fumbled punt return to the offense. I'm not going to suggest they looked great or anything, but you're blaming them for much more than they should be IMO.

I think we could keep 7 if we only keep 8 DL. Thinking 9 DBs and 24 total on D.

What I'm taking away from the pre-season, since it's effectively over after the first half of tonight's game, is that we are improved over last year's team. That's all I can ask/expect. Brady/Belicheat won't be there too much longer, and we'll be closing the gap in the meantime, I'd love to overtake them this year, but I just don't think that's a realistic expectation. Playoffs may be a tough pull, but I think they can get a wildcard. Next year I expect an AFC East championship.

I like the build-for-the-future mentality and this is only this coaching squad's 2nd year, and I think they're doing the right things and moving the arrow upward. If we were to regress this season, then you have to look for some major firings, and they know that. Philbin and company earned my trust by coming in last year and going 7-9 with a rookie, VERY inexperienced QB and a patchwork offense, improving on it this year will buy some more trust and confirm their vision for the team.

Did I use the word "stupid"? Maybe it is because everything you post is totally over the top constant negativity 100% of the time. I don't think anyone else wants to read that either. When you constant negativity is filled with so much hyperbole, you're nothing but a troll IMO.

Worst game day thread Ive read yet.. Bunch of huffing and puffing..

We have all been wondering if Tannehill would continue where he left off last season and if he would improve. Thus far I have to say he looks great! 1st team offense looked real good.. 1st team defense looked real good.. Yes there are concerns but overall I am pleased with the progress of the organization as a whole so far. My expectations are always high but so far from what I have seen it looks like we have us a winning team here.

    Edit: Just saw this article..

The rain came when Thiggy fumbled. Also a real dumb play by Carroll before that. Giving away points.
Also Miller was good with his blocking but damn he was gassed early.

I doubt this Coleridge is Shouright. Annoying as he was, Shouright was never that totally negative on every single thing to do with the Dolphins.
