I know it is very unlikely that we trade within the AFC east, but with this current rash of QB injuries, has his trade stock reached a point where we should consider trading him? I know he has not had a great pre-season. Has a reputation of not being great in practice...but once the season starts we all know that he has game. He looked very impressive of the bench in NYC last year (I happened to be there). I think that he is better than about 5-8 current QB starters, and that is w/o current injuries. Could we possibly get a 2nd or a 3rd for him?. If RT gets injured, I think with our D, and MM starting we could still challenge for a wildcard spot and because of this, would not settle for less than 2nd
Im dont think that a situation currently exists where a team has a quality #2 TE they can part with, but needs an upgrade at QB. If the intention is to trade Moore for a draft pick, we can do that after the season, since he's signed for 2014 as well.
Foles was competing with Vick for the starting job and they also have Dennis Dixon who played for Kelly in college. They're pretty comfortable with their QB position.
Based on what I saw last night Devlin should consider himself lucky if he makes the final roster. I'm all for keeping Matt Moore as the backup.
This is ridiculous. You're basing is career off of one preseason game. Tell me when you've actually taken the time to watch film of his college career and all of his preseason snaps as a Phin. The kid is going to be really really good. Borderline starter good. You can't negate that because of one bad throw in a preseason game. No I don't consider the second INT a bad throw either. You're talking about an impossible situation.
No thanks. Unless some team is willing to offer a 1st rounder for the guy,w hich they won't. Backup QB is way too important and I'm not convinced Devlin can step in yet.
I think it would be a big mistake to trade Moore right now. Devlin hasn't played that well, at least we know Moore can be a capable replacement. Our desperation for a good TE shouldn't keep us from being prepared for a critical loss even more disastrous than losing Keller.
well, if you're talking about more than a couple of games, then yes, it's more disastrous. but if we (knock on wood) lost Tannehill for an extended period of time, I don't think Moore's good enough to get us to a winning record anyway.
I think we would be lucky to get a 6th round pick for Moore, he's more valuable to us than a 6 or even maybe a 5th.
No tight end picked up from cuts or even a trade at this point is worth taking away a dependable backup like Moore.
No one is going to give us a pick worth moving him for. Teams had a chance to get him the last few years if a team out there really thought he was a legit starter option for them they would have made a move already, its not like he would have been expensive to get the last few years.
I say we trade Moore for something....picks or whatever. I'd feel comfortable with Delvin as our backup and with the Bills QB situation I wonder if they would be interested. I really Don't think Leinart is going to do to well and if I was Buffalo a 3-5rd round pick for Moore would seem like a good investment to me. Say if we trade Moore and a 5th round for the Bills 3rd. He is a great backup and definitely better than any option they have. He would be an instant upgrade for at least a couple years for them. We need to get something out of Moore either way
You lost me at Erikson...took a few times looking at this post before I figured out who you were talking about... Back OT: To who and for what ?? While I agree that he's a valuable back up, I don't think too many teams out there look at him as a starter. He is what he is. He's valuable to any team he's on, but he's not valuable enough to really be tradeable...if that makes sense... We still have 12 days of healing time before the season gets off in earnest. I still wouldn't want to be a jills or jests fan at this point, but I wouldn't count out either team of being able to field someone somewhat capable at QB. As you said, in division trading is rather taboo in the NFL, but it's not unheard of...but I don't think that they'd be interested in our cast off backup guy...
I think MM is more than a back up, no way either Sanchize or Geno or Mat Leinaret are comparable to MM
Haven't we already threaded/discussed this ad nauseum, or was that in Club? I realize we are pretty desperate for a TE to replace Keller and I don't feel we have that man on the roster. But some TE will come on the waiver wire in a week or so that likely will be an improvement over Clay, Sims and Egnew. On to Matt Moore, IMVHO we have at least a top 5 backup QB in MMoore who knows he could likely challenge for the #1 QB spot on several teams in the NFL (I don't know which and am not going to go research it), but Moore has chosen to accept his backup role here and if Tannehill goes down I think Moore is good enough to keep us from falling flat on our face. He won't take us to the SB, but when he took over for Henne we were headed for a 2-14 season or something close to it, and Moore turned us around to a semi-respectable 6-10 if I remember right. I know I was pissed at him because I was ready to tank the season for a top 1-3 Draft Pick the following April. Bottom line I see no team having such a need at QB that also has a killer TE or at least solid TE that makes a Moore for their TE trade worthwhile. And don't even talk to me about trading Moore for a draft pick, I consider that just ridiculous. JMVHO
