Kuroda hit the wall like this last September. I wonder due to his age and miles on his arm he's going through a dead arm period. Obviously it's not the right time for this to be happening for the Yankees especially with Hughes' rotation spot being a huge ? mark and Sabathia. Good thing Pettitte seemed to righted the ship in his last 3 or 4 starts.

Anyway for the Yankees to win 90 games they need to go 20-9 in their last 29 games. That means Oakland has to go 15 and 15 in their final 30 games for the Yankees to tie the final spot. TB could go 15-16 and still win 90 games. And that's only to win 90 games. Basically its going to be an extremely hard road for the Yankees to make the playoffs this year. They're not dead but they can't afford to lose anymore series.

Heck i thought we were dead months ago and nothing has changed my mind and i expect it to only be worse next year. If you win the WS in the next few years i think you should send a ring to Dodgers ownership.

I won't deny that. Hell even if we don't win a WS the Sox should be sending the Dodgers weekly fruit baskets. I still can't believe the Dodgers took on all that money and will probably have to eat Crawford's or Ethier's contract in order to move them for Puig next year.

This offseason should be really interesting for the Yankees especially if they don't make the playoffs. So many storylines between resigning Cano, what will happen with Arod, will the owners let Cashman spend money, what moves they make etc.

I would say that Crawford and Either are both unmoveable but Crawford was already traded once and heck Wells was traded twice so i think anything is possible. If I was the Dodgers i would do the unexpected suck up the mistakes in Crawford and Ethier and Trade the headcase Puig.

If the Dodgers eat almost all of either contract a team would take a flier on either Crawford or Ethier. Crawford has had a nice bounce back year, although give the Dodgers credit for somewhat platooning him.

Issue is taking on most of the contract with the likelyhood of nothign getting much back at all ontop of having to extend Kershaw.

Even the Dodgers have to have some kind of salary cap in their minds. I am getting the feeling Kershaw wants to hit FA and wont except an extension unless it shocks him.

Well it's either eat some/all of the contract and maybe get a few players back or have a high priced player on the bench everyday complaining about playing time.

The Dodgers claim they don't have a salary cap, which may be true right now but in a few years that tune might change. The Dodgers and Kershaw were working on a $200 million extension earlier this year. If that's on the table, Kershaw would be a fool not to sign even if he might be able to get a bit more in the open market.

That or trade Puig like i said ;). I'm sure teams like the Pirates, Rays, and Rangers would be willing to unload some nice prospects for him.

Crawford/Kemp/Ethier with Pederson soon as your 4th OF ( and with the injury concerns of Kemp and Crawford he would get plenty of playing time)

Puig has his moments and obviously has some make up issues but it would be much wiser to trade Crawford or Ethier and eat the money then to trade a younger and better player in Puig.

Nothing says good like being 27th in OPS at your position.

Good start of the series. We really need to get a winning streak going. Forget the division, lets get this wild card spot and lets have a chance to get into the tournament

He's higher than that, from what I've seen. His WAR is also 4.2 in Fangraphs, and 4.1 at BR.

    How does he suck?

I don't like WAR at all because half of its formula comes from the defensive metrics and they are deeply flawed at best. Especially the catcher metrics. That's why most stat guys take catcher WAR with a grain of salt. I think it's also worth noting he's 10th out of 13 qualified catchers in OPS.

That being said, I don't have anything to rebut that, so while I think catcher WAR sucks, I will concede that there's a chance that Russ Martin does not suck.

Yeah. I think petitte was playing around with them and didn't want to leave. It looked like he was pissed. I bet he felt like no problem I'll get out of this

I was so optimistic on my way to work this morning. 3.5 back, if Tampa loses we are 2.5 if we win! Then Pettitte was pitching great! Thinking we could go two games in a row not giving up a run and then bam espn tells me it's 3-1 then 4-3 and then 7-3. Come on Yankees. You need to get over that hump

Yankees piss me off. They have innings like that where they score 8 runs, granted its the white sox, but they have games were they can't score 1 run

I wish the yankees offense was more consistent because when I see the flashes of brilliance I hope they keep it up. When they click their offense is awesome.

Also Arod has been playing quite nicely since coming back! Glad hes here right now
