these are who the Browns cut after picking up six yesterday.

    Scott Petrak ct ‏@ScottPetrak 18h

#Browns have 7 on practice squad, with spot open: WR Collins, WR Gurley, DBs Edwards, Eubanks, Frederick, Posey, Slaughter

so that's potentially, with Carpenter, three former Dolphins on the Browns "roster" when we play them

not only did the Browns claim two running backs yesterday (Rainey and Johnson) but also claimed two new tight ends in MarQueis Gray and Keavon Milton... Dolphins should blitz the hell out of these guys on Sunday.

He looked good in the preseason. I remember being happy when we signed him and pissed when we cut him after barely any chance to show anything.

No, but we should have held on to him because he was better than any other backup we had during the time Fasano was starting.

Hey, good for him. Another year making a living at football, and a year for him to try getting his game up to speed, and doing it inthe NFL's best backfield.

Do you really believe Miami will do that? Philbin has a specific profile for his receivers. Around 5-11 or above and a good 200 pounds. Look at Green Bay and you will see that. That is the real reason you won't see Bumphis. You could argue Thigpen, but his special teams is why he is on this team.

I'll give Carpenter the edge. Cleveland's stadium is one of the trickier ones to kick in in the entire league. The wind swirls a lot there. I don't think it'll be an issue week 1, but later on in the year? Give me Carpenter's experience in Montana over Billy Cundiff. Good luck DC.

IF Cleveland signs Carpenter, you just know he will kick a game winning 50+ yarder in OT week 1....you just know it. :tantrum:

It's a certainty. Every damn kicker looks like a Pro Bowler against us. It's been that way for a decade.

Considering our depth, I'd be a little excited if we did, though not sure who we would cut to make room. He is basically a RG only I think.

I look at Wylie as a potential, at least partial, team redemption as per the disaster of the Welker trade. Not that Welker would have been as good in Miami as he was in New England playing with Brady, but still...

Good punt returner, good slot guy, provides quicks and speed. I still question KC letting Wylie go, and I certainly hope that we sign him. He's almost the same size as Thigpen for those concerned with Wylie's size- I'd prefer Wylie over Thigpen but I'd be ok with both speedsters on the roster. I'd rather have Wylie on the roster than say Jason Trusnik or Nolan Carroll, despite their special teams value. I've seen enough of Trusnik at LB, not a fan, but he is good on ST. Now that I think of it I'd rather devote a roster spot to Wylie that Pat Devlin.

Bottom line, Wylie can ball. How much better it would be to watch him use his speed and quicks in the slot and punt returns than it was to watch Bess, who although quick was just too slow, especially for a small player. Bess was certainly a gamer, but I never could get over or make peace with his lack of speed/explosion as either our slot receiver or punt returner. Wylie would give opposing teams something to think about in either role, I hope that what I perceive as KC's mistake turns out to be our good fortune. Let's get him, put him on the 53.
