He's very limited in how you can use him. Evan Rodriguez is far more versatile. Orson Charles, whom the Bengals kept over Conner, is also more versatile. However, Cincinnati seems to be moving to more a single-back offense, which is why Conner was expendable. Charles also doubles as their 3rd TE and plays a lot of special teams for Cincinnati. Cincinnati I think also stashed Chris Pressley on either PUP or IR. He was a very good FB last year but tore his knee up bad late in the regular season. IMO, if Miami was sniffing around Vonta Leach, a traditional blocking FB, that's what they'd be interested in Conner for. Conner can play some special teams for you, but I wouldn't be throwing to him out of the backfield; not that you'd need to with Clay on the roster. I think if, for example, Miami signed Conner and cut Rodriguez, it's because he offers you solid run-blocking (think he was PFF's #2 rated FB this preseason) and with the OL's run-blocking issues this preseason, adding a better run-blocking FB could be of high priority.
I can see why they'd want to develop Francis over Randall, that's a fair point. I just don't think Francis got very many, if any, reps against guys who are going to be on actual NFL rosters this season. He's clearly better than a lot of 3rd and 4th stringers though. I also hope they sign Tracy Robertson to the practice squad as well.
I called the four wideouts weeks ago. I just wasn't impressed with the rest of the lot like most on here were (be it McNutt, Bumphis or other). I also had us carrying more DB's than usual, but not 11. I can't imagine that stays that way forever.
No way Thomas, Jenkins and Jones made it on merit. No one CYAs like Ireland. You know, back when the Fins were GOOD, it was tough for a rookie to make this team. Now 9 draft choices are on scholarship...
It's less a lack of optimism and more a lack of common sense. There are some really ****ing dumb posts in this thread.
yeah, this team sucks. Probably worse than the 2007 or 1966 teams. I'd not subject myself to the torture of viewing if I were you.
Good news. Drove around charging my iphone back to 36%. Bad news electricity still off. Saw a ch 4 news van driving around. Someone watch the ch 4 news in LA tonight to see if we are on tv.
Interesting note on who the last team to announce their cuts was last year (Jacksonville). Their GM was fired. This is the last year of Irish's contract.
I have to believe Ireland has claimed some folks. 11 dbs, 4 wrs, etc. I have to admit the cutting of Randall was the biggest surprise to me.
update... My power was just restored!!! Man, you don't know how ****ed you are when the power goes out. aahhhhhhhhh the a/c is back on!!
I have to say the southern california edison folks were right.. they said it would be by 11pm and sure enough, 10:30pm... looks like we're the top story channel 4. lol not the Dolphins... I was following the guys working on it... in their trucks. stalking them.. like a hawk.
so the 53 man roster right now has an average age of 25.7 years of age, cleveland is at 25.2 years of age , seattle is at 25.3
Thomas does deserve to be on the roster. Just the team has to stop trying to force a guard into a tackle role. At best he might become an average RT, but he should make for a good quality guard.
Upon reflection I guess I should not have been surprised by the Randall cut. In the New Orleans game they ran right at him, and right by him, the whole time he was in there. I expect either Francis or Robertson to be on the PS. As to only 4 WR's, I count Thigpen out there so if necessary we have a fifth guy. The next day or two as the roster "churns" will be interesting to watch.

Adam Beasley says that A.J. Francis is being signed to the practice squad. So he must have cleared waivers. He had an offer to join the Patriots' practice squad but turned it down.
