probably not to much info, but i think this deserves its own thread, since its kind of big news via Andrew Abramson twitter, it looks like Will Davis is back on track, taylor is also back it seems, don't know if there is something wrong with john denney, clutts is to believed to be a LS as well james walker is there, so he will have something later as well
Hope Taylor was gone yesterday for personal reasons, not injury related. I want him to play and play well.
I'm pretty sure there was a tweet yesterday that he and Davis were both there doing rehab work on the side. Glad to have him back though.
Wednesday practice is important for players getting reps Sunday..need Jamar to come thru baby.. Wonder how Dion is doing today, that little rascal, That boy gets excited about playing with his team, that dude has something about him that is contagious..I believe it's called swagger.
well james walker just tweeted that davis and taylor weren't practicing...davis with no walking boot though....****, don't think they play on sunday
Probably the one guy who could afford to miss practice. That's a positive. Devlin's absence could be anything.
I know your jokin RO but that dude is a specimen for his position, his work on coverage is exceptional relative to his position..dude can get downfield in a hurry, start isolating him this season, you'll be shocked.
i hope davis and taylor make it tomorrow....24 hours to get that thing right, the medical staff needs to deliver a strike
Amen...all-world ST'ers there in the main positions. Disclaimer: May be a little early for that praise on Sturgis, but I really like the kid.
Damn man, our corner unit is hurtin.. I say we send the freestyler Into the blood zone on passing downs and shut down that area forcing everything outside, bring pressure on the edge, let Dion blitz at times in the gaps..Just shut down the middle of the field..They really don't have anyone that can beat us on the perimeter, but they do in the middle.
I guess if there's a game where our corners are hurting, Cleveland isn't a bad choice since Gordon is out. We could definitely use them the following 3 games though.
Sanford might be there for his STs prowess although I think he's useless as a CB. Jones is the one who I expect is only there as injury insurance. I think that Wylie would be a great replacement for Sanford. He was great in college as the flyer, would replace Bess as our "safe" punt return option (an improvement IMO) and is actually capable of fulfilling his position responsibility (WR). I know you think the team prefers larger bodied slot WRs and I agree, but I also think that they want to have that dynamic slot player option as well. Hence the Austin flirtation and the experimentation with Thigpen and Bumphis. As productive as Bumphis was, I don't think they saw as much dynamic play making potential as they hoped for (or enough STs contribution). I think Wylie could be a little more dynamic as well as being a strong STs contributor.
I recall seeing somewhere that they are concerned about his groin and are going to be super cautious the next couple weeks with him.
Clutts is an emergency long snapper and so could be Kyle Miller on the PS. Hopefully we need neither. I think Jones is on the 53 for special teams work as is Stanford though there were times last year when Stanford looked OK at boundary corner. In the New Orleans pre-season game though he was roasted! I figure we start Grimes and Patterson. Carroll comes in for the nickel out on the boundary and Patterson goes into the slot. For the dime, it is probably Wilson so hopefully neither Stanford nor Jones has to play actual defense only Special Teams.
It might be the other way around, according to a tweet by Barry Jackson the other day. He tweeted the Dolphins were keeping Don Jones on the 53 because they believe he has a lot of special teams upside.
ah... beat me to it. Although my delivery would have been different. I would have had Denney deliver the baby, and then snap it down the hallway into the hospital's nursery.
I feel like Stanford might even stay on the roster once both Taylor and Davis are healthy; he's been lights out on special teams since last year. After all, Kevin Coyle's secondaries have been made up mainly of 10 DBs well back into his Cincinnati days; like Deltha O'Neal Cincinnati days.
its wednesday, davis and taylor again not practicing, i guess its safe to assume that they won´t play on sunday
yup... even more reason to blitz when you factor in that the Browns will have two new running backs and two new tight ends somewhere in the fold.
