I love it....nothing like confidence!!!! Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero 1h WR Mike Wallace on Browns CB Joe Haden: "I'm going to sleep early and I hope he's going to sleep early b/c it's going to be a long day."
I don't think that's smack talk at all. He's basically saying 2 good players are going to be going at eachother all day so we better get our sleep. At least that's how I see it.
Not smack talk imo. Just saying that he knows he will be facing Joe Haden and it will be a long game because it will be hard for the two of them. They both need to prepare, nothing more and nothing less. Would have been smack talk if he acted like Haden had no talent or that he didn't need to prepare
Not smack.. It could be a long day for Wallace. Smack would be - Haden better sleep well because he is going to have a very long day..
Considering Wallace has a combined 6 catches for less than 80 yds and 0 TDs on 17 targets against Haden in his previous 3 games, I think he should worry about what happens on the field rather than talking it up. I know we have a different system than the Steelers and intend to use him differently... but as of now, Haden is the only one that should be talking.
Sounds to me like he's telling Hayden to prepare for a hard fought game and that doesn't sound much like smack to me. I would much rather hear statements like this than smack talk. I just hope he gives Hayden more than he can handle. GO DOLPHINS!
We should all pitch in and order a few hookers to Haden's hotel room the night before the game like players used to do to Lawrence Taylor. Hopefully Haden wouldn't play as well as L.T. did.
That's not nearly the whole story... While Wallace wasn't catching TDs, he was taking the top off the defense to help the running game and keeping the Brown's best defender occupied while either other guys caught TDs, or the Steelers won those games. It's always more than just going deep and catching TDs. Bottom line is winning. The best the Browns did against them was while Rothliesburger was out injured I think.
A subtle jab, none the less... and that's pretty much the way that Haden will take it. These guys know each other extremely well. Should be a great match up to watch.
If it is smack talk, it doesn't make many Top-Million lists. Here was a smack-talker who knew how to do it: I agree with the folks that said that Wallace was just saying it's going to be a tough day for both guys.
He didn't talk smack, but check it..that boy is hyped and all smiles right now.. Let me paraphrase for ya.. " joe haden is a great player, we go way back, what makes him great is his confidence, he's gonna be in his all white with his orange shoes, cause if you look good you play good, tell ya what, I'm gonna be in my all white too, it should be great, I'm gonna go to sleep early, hope he does too, cause its gonna be a long day" He finished with more compliments of haden saying, he's one of the upper echelon corners where I'm gonna be able to find out where I'm at, we'll find out Sunday..( big grin) All white baby..our players love our unis..why, because their finally fu&$in cool..
I see it as a statement of mutual respect, no trash talk at all, unless you put Wallace way below Haden in talent.
I don't think Haden will take it as smack talk at all, because of what you said in your previous post, Wallace's job was to take the top of the defense (which he did) to let the running game and underneath stuff to work for the Steelers, Haden knows this as well, he knows exactly what Wallace's job was, hence the "it's gonna be a long day Joe' comment, basically saying they will be running up and down the field all day and very few balls will come their way. That's the definition of a long day for a football player.
Love the attitude. Love it. Maybe it'll rub off on Tannehill. Not 'too' much, but, the guy could use a little swagger. The whole team does. It's been too long.
Im with everybody with loving the guys attitude off the field... but I wanna see it on the field before I start patting the guy on the back.
Not sure but might translate it this way. While Wallace keeps Haden away. Hartline might have a good day. I'm pretty damn sure that's not what he said.
Some @ss hat twisted Wallace's words on the front page of nfl.com. I don't know how these writers sleep at night...
But that is just it, it's not necessarily a stats win here. If he is able to occupy their best DB and open things up for our other WR's and running game then that is a win to me.
Well, now he isn't talking at all : Shake it off Mike ... we know you got a lot of big plays coming up the rest of the season
