Nice job as usual. Obviously, hope your prediction is wrong, but I agree on your keys for sure. Miami has to stop Trent Richardson and make Cleveland one-dimensional. Conversely, Cleveland needs to get him going. And if Miami's protection holds up, I think we have a good shot at fairly comfortable win. Even if the protection is somewhat leaky, I still think there are ways of moving Tannehill around and making plays - like you stated, using his athleticism.

First games are always whacky, though (last year's 2nd quarter filled with blocked passes for INTs, for example, against the Texans). It'll be interesting.

Great vid, every one is better than the last Em.

FTI Lavauo is out this week, Pinkston is too. Onie Cousins will be the RG. Browns should be improved but they're takin' an L on Sunday. Sorry 4 ya :tongue2:

We need this win if we are going to compete with the Bills this year. :pity:

Do you still predict the Bills to win the division?

    Greetings Dolphin fans.

This should be a very revealing game, there are a lot of people calling it must-win for both teams. I don't see it that way, to me it's more like must-keep-your-QB alive with both teams trying to find out what they have in their sophmore 1st round picks playing behind lines that aren't perfect, against strong pass rushing Ds. Hard to say who has the real advantage here.

RT looked a little bit better overall last year, and is much more dangerous when a play breaks down. Weeden has a strong arm and great pass protection on the edge. I do believe Richardson helps the Browns much more than Wallace helps Miami. Both teams have dependable possession receivers but question marks at tight end. IMO both of these teams are going to try to leverage their running ability into a little more security for their passers.

Again, both teams look to have a strong pass rush. Both teams are starting #2 corners that should be nickels. I thought Miami had been a 3-4 team. Are they installing a new system? If so that's another thing these teams have in common.

I'm very bullish on our coaches, and believe that, especially when the guard position gets a little healthier, and Gordon returns that the Cleveland offense will be shockingly improved over last year. That doesn't help us this week though, and with new systems, unproven QB, and awful RG this game will come down to who can run the ball effectively.

Basically (to my mind) it's a healthy, trimmed down Trent Vs scrambling Tanny + Miller. Cleveland has never been able to stop the run since the return, but I've never seen a front 7 this talented on my team either. I don't think I would put money on this game either way, but I am convinced that Trent is going to have a dominant season. If he goes over 100 our chances are very very good.

So cheers, and here's to everybody's players being healthy Monday morning. Good luck to you starting week 2.

Will probably be a low-scoring game with two good defenses and young QBs. But I still think we should beat Cleveland by two scores. The WR group they're rolling out this week is even worse than what Miami had last year. Double/shadow Cameron in the redzone. Load up the box, key in on Richardson in the pass game as well. I don't see how they're going to put up many points on us.

The scope thing had him somewhat at a distance from game shape. If you watch him last year vs the little bit he's been on the field this year the difference is observable. TR is a more explosive player than what you saw last season.

Reportedly he's down about 10-12 lbs from last year. Says he's going to stay around 225.

Edit to ask: Is Incognito playing? Looking forward to seeing the matchup between him and Phil Taylor. Should be very chippy.

good video, although i find it strange you name the pass blocking from preseason play shaky, but then also questioning RT´s progression...when he clearly showed progress in the preseason as well

Who wins the Strength vs. Strength - Cleveland Run Game Vs. Miami Run Defense. BIG matchup in game 1.

Trent puts up 100+...long day. I don't think he will.

    Gotcha..

Are y'all ready to face inside/outside pressure?, Starks and Odrick are better than average pass rushing d tackles, Dion Jordan is a go, and you are aware that there isn't a better Pass rusher in the game than Cameron Wake?, were going to test the middle of your offensive line which should create some conflict where Weeden likes to play, he won't have anywhere to go with wake and Jordan comin off the edge, Thomas I'm sure will neutralize whoever but wake lines up against the right tackle..

    How is Trent's pass blocking?

Trent is a willing blocker but, ya know, rookie. He wasn't great picking up rushers. Ogbonnaya is a very good blocker, Norv has converted him from nobody RB to nobody FB. Don't assume abuse on the right side, Mitchell was fantastic last season for a 2nd round rook. If you guys get Weeds it'll be up the middle or an overload more than likely.

Good to see RI is gonna play. Love hating that guy.

I am going to assume Cameron wake winning battles against Mitchell is your reality, he is a lethal pass rusher, the best.

If your fullback is on the field during passing situations, y'all are in trouble.

Og might be the 3rd down back too. Not really sure how that's going to turn out. Jackson got cut, the other 2 backups got hurt so the Browns are restocked in #2-3 RB with Bobbie Rainey (Ravens cut) and Dennis Johnson (Texans). Pretty sure Ogby is better than them.

I know Wake is awesome. But his advantage over Schwartz is not going to be greater than basically any NFL player running by Cousins. If I was Miami i'd run stunts and hold Mack, wouldn't even blitz.

Dion Jordan will come from anywhere, we've see him line up in multiple positions already and be very effective in limited reps, The point is we have both covered with Wake and our pass rushers on the inside exploiting your weak area, Starks and Odrick display excellent hand usage rushing..our oline is stout up the middle, Cogs Pouncey and Jerry are very capable pass protectors.

We've seen what Coyle likes to do with Ellerbe and Wheeler bringing them up the inside gaps, wonder if he lays off or floods the gates.

I guess my overall POV regarding the passrush/protection matchups is that Cleveland has an advantage there which might be negated by Tanny's ability to extend plays. He was pretty good going downfield last year and Wallace's main strength is basically getting loose deep in those situations. Therapist was great with him in that regard in Pissburgh.

What I mean by overall advantage is that while Wake is clearly the best player on either front 7, what we got is pretty good. Adding Kruger, Groves, Mingo, Bryant, and getting big Phil back on top of what we we capable of last year, plus moving to a more aggressive system, should mean effective pass rush.

However on the other side of the ball Thomas/Shwartz is a vastly superior pair. Mack is also very very good. Greco is okay. I don't believe Miami is going to dominate the edges. If they come around the edge it will be with numbers for the most part. Weeds was not sacked much last season.

Again, IMO the winner of the game will be the team that establishes the run. If Tanny/Miller are more effective than Trent you win. I do believe Miami has an advantage run blocking as we are just flat out underwhelming at it. Whatever Trent gets he's going to earn in manly fashion.

Also don't underestimate the absurdly negative impact Shurmur's playcalling had on our offense. 60% of fans watching us could probably correctly guess the play being run based on formation, down, and distance. We will be better than that under Norv/Chud.

LOL! He isn't comparing our pass rush against the Browns is he??? That is just funny! I'm expecting a top 5 D out of Miami.

Miller is gonna have a big day, not to mention Wallace, Hartline and Gibson. Dolphins 27 Browns 17

This is something that is really perplexing. I'm hearing something like 66% of everyone are betting the Browns. The line was at a Pick, then it was at Browns -1, now I think it's at Browns -1.5 in some places. I hear the sharps are on the Browns as well.

The Browns lose Josh Gordon, Dion Lewis, Shawn Lauvao/Jason Pinkston, Kellen Davis and probably Barkevious Mingo. The Dolphins lost Dustin Keller.

I'm having trouble reconciling this one. Who the hell is Brandon Weeden going to throw the ball to when he gets blitzed? Greg Little? Travis Benjamin? Davone Bess? Who is going to be his blitz beater? Are the Browns going to run the ball against Miami's run defense? Because the Browns have some weaknesses in their run defense that are vulnerable (Paul Kruger) whereas Miami's looks as strong as ever. Miami's receivers are capable of getting open. Hartline can get open against Buster Skrine or Chris Owens, and if Leon McFadden is playing forget about it. Mike Wallace has plenty of talent to get open against Joe Haden even with Haden being as good as he is. Craig Robertson is highly vulnerable in pass coverage.

Uh.... yeah! Dude is a blazer! Bess has speed to burn. How would we catch him in the open field??? :chuckle:

When we shutdown Richardson, they'll be dead in the water. As opposed to the Dolphins, who could go run to open up the air or go pass to open the run.

Don't forget, backs in the passing game and quick hitters in the running game vs the blitz are also effective (traps, draws).. Blitz beaters don't necessarily have to be receivers

Em didn't say Tannehill did not progress. He said Tannehill needs to do a better job going through his receiver progressions on each play.

NOw, is part of that on the oline? Probably. But I also saw Tannehill seem to look to his checkdown first a couple of times.

This has a lot to do with our O staying on the field.

When Soliai is out there too much he fades quickly, and they run all over us.

See the end of the Pats game last year.

Does Turner still run a lot of deep, slow developing plays? Good luck with that.

I see this being a very low scoring, defense dominated game. Wouldn't be surprised by a 13-6 or 13-10 scoreline.

I'm still trying to figure out why the vast majority of people are picking the Browns. I don't think they can run on Miami, they have no WR's to catch the ball and Weeden has a bad habit of throwing it up for grabs when under pressure (which Coyle will bring with Ellerbe and Wheeler).

On the flip side I don't trust our pass protection or our run blocking to be honest but I think Tannehill will make enough plays on the move for us to sneak it.

Don't forget Odrick is at his rightful position now so we have a fantastic 3 man rotation there. I'd hope we can limit Soliai's snap count.

New schemes means players thinking a bit before they play, 2nd year in scheme means player thinking less..

Mike Wallace scored a 70 year TD on Joe Haden when he was ole miss and Haden was at Florida..love to see one of those..
