I hope Tannehill is the answer and I supported drafting him, but I also hope that if he doesn't pan out that they don't hesitate to try again.

I think that Tannehill will be good, but the question is how good. My concern is whether or not he has the head and feel for the game, that innate ability, whatever you want to call it, that all top QBs have. He's got nearly perfect size, a very good arm and he's one heck of an athlete- that's all very good stuff, but it's not enough.

Russell Wilson- in that game last year against the Seahawks he struck me as a QB that knew how to play the game, rookie or not. I was blown away by his play in college, but there was always that height issue- regardless, I can't think of one aspect of QB play that he's deficient in, other than being short. I want to see Tannehill demonstrate that kind feel of the game that a guy like Wilson has- clutch play, scanning the field, etc. Sherman did everything but promise that "quantum leap" from Tannehill this season, we'll see what happens.

And the franchise QB never brought us a ring. We all kiss the ground Marino walks on. I'm just saying. I'd take one a Super Bowl win over a franchise QB.

    Just win baby is right.

    Well away from here
I love you man, but 30 TD's may be a bit high. 20-24 TD's is likely more along the lines of what he might achieve. It's crazy the season is here.

Did we not win a ring because we had a franchise QB? Or dd we not win a ring because we didnt put the pieces around the franchise QB? You may not NEED a franchise a QB to win 1 but you do need one to have sustained success and have a chance for multiple rings. Sure Id settle for 1 over none but Id rather have sustained success over 1 ring.

Thanks....maybe youre right Con but the difference between 24 TDs (the high end of your prediction) and 30 Tds (my target) is finding 6 TDs on plays that either the receiver helps the QB or the breaks fall just right at that time. It could be the result of something as simple as improved deep accuracy and having a true downfield receiver like Wallace to take the top off the D. Its not an unreachable goal.

The only reason I mentioned Marino was to state the FACT that Tannehill broke the Dolphin's rookie passing record, which was held by Marino. That was it. Period. You're the one rambling on about the 80's and making comparisons.

Saying he threw passes that would have been TDs if caught, but were dropped by his receivers is pretty straight forward. Not sure how many other ways to phrase it. You're rather garrulous. You give it a shot...

As for your not liking and Tannehill and preferring Weeden, well that's you... sounds like you've already made up your mind on a number of things...

Well, the question is, what's the relevance of that fact, why did you bring it up? Tannehill broke the Dolphins single game rookie passing record previously held by Marino- what's your point?

As to the last sentence of your post, try reading again what I said:

"I liked Brandon Weeden more than Tannehill coming out of college and I think that he's a better QB now- I'm looking forward to seeing both QBs play in the same game, I hope that Tannehill proves me wrong."

And from that you deduce that I've made up my mind about Tannehill? And how do you come to the conclusion that I don't like Tannehill? What I've done is point out some deficiencies that I've seen, but I see potential in Tannehill and I've referred to it. Perhaps you missed this comment of mine a few posts up:

"I think that Tannehill will be good, but the question is how good."

And I guess that you missed my earlier comments in this thread about Tannehill's nearly ideal size, excellent arm strength and outstanding athletic ability as well- yet you feel confident in commenting that I don't like Tannehill...

Cuchulainn, it's hard to take your comments seriously when your reading comprehension skills are so obviously lacking, I'll leave it at that.

Is Weeden a better passer than Tanny when given time in the pocket?? Good chance. But if you put the least bit of pressure on Brandon.....he becomes Ryan Leaf.

Fair point- I really liked Weeden coming out out Oklahoma St. I had him rated as the #1 QB talent wise- the only question imo was only his age. But you're right- Weeden has to prove that he can handle the heat. His arm is phenomenal, but that isn't enough. That's his main hurdle to making the big leap, handling the pass rushing pressure. Tannehill has his own demons imo, which I've already stated as I see them.

The bottom line is that I see in Luck and Wilson two guys who have already imo put it all together, who have separated themselves from guys like Tannehill and Weeden. Will Tannehill or Weeden make that leap this year? Who knows, but I'll have fun watching them on Sunday.

This is not significant. Marino put that up in 9 games.

Tannehill threw for barely 200 yards a game in his rookie season and had a 72 QBR (7-9 record)

Marino tossed for 250 a game and had a 92 QBR (7-2 record)

So Tannehill broke his record - What could possibly be the inference here??

lol... whatever. My original post in this was in response to another guy's message about Warren Sapp stating that Tannehill would break Marino's passing records. People have been scoffing at the comments, so I pointed out that Tannehill had already broken the rookie passing record for the team.

You took offense to me stating that Tannehill had already broken one and started a diatribe about Marino and Tannehill's short comings as you see them and drawing comparisons with Weeden and Russell. I didn't miss anything you said because stating he has ideal size is a fact.

With the new rules of the last few seasons around protecting QBs and receivers, it is easy to see how how Tannehill that could potentially break them. The number of games it takes him is irrelevant to doing so.
