Regardless of the class the owner does or doesn't have, he has a terrible basketball mind apparently. I feel like he just said "Hey I know those names...CHAMPIONSHIP"

that's a pretty classless statement on its own since the incident is from 2001 and hasn't happened since.

you forget that before these guys got here, he took a 15 win team and got the #4 and #5 seed with Wade and nobody else.

You know what that list you just posted has in common?

Spo beat Pop in the NBA Finals for the Spurs first finals loss...and beat Doc in the playoffs, in back to back years. Jeff Van Gundy? get real.

    Here are the FACTS:

    Spo has coached 5 years:

He has improved the win% 4 of the 5 years. the year he failed to improve the win%, he still won the title.

His team has ranked in the top 5 defensively 4 of the 5 years.

He has never failed to make the playoffs.

In 5 years he has: 5 playoff berths, 3, Div. Titles., 3 Finals appearances, 2 Championships.

His Career record is: 394-260 (.660) Playoff Record: 50-29 (.633)

In other words....he is headed to the hall of fame.

    But you are not impressed.

    More facts...

    Spo changed Riley's practice regime.
Spo changed the entire offense, TWICE.
Spo Pushed for Birdman, AND Ray Allen.
Spo had the cleanest Lineup Team rankings of any coach the last 3 years save for Pop having it in 2011. In 2011, Spo was #2.

and the biggest feather in his cap?

WADE pushed for Spo, and sold him to Bron. I think Bron likes what was sold to him.

Bron got his own locker here at Ohio State. Obvious recruiting ploy, but my god if the rules were what they are now and he was forced to goto Ohio State?? His dominance would've been laughable, and we would've hung up a banner.

I don't want to jinx it, but Tristan Thompson in the current FIBA basketball tourney for team Canada is shooting like 85% from the foul line after switching to right handed shooting this Summer.

He's like a 60% career shooter from the FT line.

No I don't watch many movies, not into mind drivel. No offense. Nothing personal...I hate the Knicks. I'm a Heat fan. There is no scenario on Earth I should be saying the Knicks are better than someone else....but I think come playoff time the Knicks are far more relevant than the Nets who may or may not be allowed to play in the games depending on location/time slot. After 8 PM it may be hard to get the nursing home to let them stay out after curfew.

Mike Woodson changed Mike D'Antoni's offense as well, going with the exact opposite pace. Guess that makes him an elite coach? Mike Woodson pushed for vets like Rasheed Wallace and Jason Kidd. Guess that makes him an elite coach? To me coaches earn their stripes coaching situationally and getting players to play their hardest for them. The rest is all bull.

He beat Pop and Doc with older rosters and still almost lost to Pop. If Duncan had been in his prime like Lebron and Wade are, forget it, you would have been done. Doc's team was so done they barely made the playoffs and then got broken up.

He did improve the win %...I would hope he could with the trifecta they have there. Hes always had a talented team, and now its the most talented team in the league. So whats that all prove? He didnt mess up enough to get fired? Sorry, Id still take any of the 3 coaches I listed over him. Hes good, I dont feel like hes elite.

You compared Mike D'Antoni to PAT RILEY as a coach. You destroyed your post right there.

Let me rephrase what I said again....

Spo Changed Hall Of Fame Coach' Pat Riley's Offense, Practice Regime, and team philosophy.....AND WON....ALL the while keeping a top 5 defense.

Sorry..by ANY definition, Erik Spoelstra is Elite.

but hey...you will be able to see his Bust in the Hall of Fame one day, and say..."Hey, that guy was overrated."

I don't think Spo's team's were all that talented pre-Big 3 outside of Wade. I think he did a pretty good job as a rookie getting 43 and 47 wins and into the playoffs. Re-established a winning culture following Riley's 15-67.

If the Spurs get Duncan of a few years ago, I'd request Wade from a few months ago (midseason) and see where the chips fell in that series. I don't think it's a knock to survive a 7-game series against that group and that coach. It's a badge.

As for Pop, there's no denying his greatness. But to be fair, when has he not had a talented roster? 15 years of Robinson, Duncan, Parker, Ginobli, etc. Again, he's a legend. But we must acknowledge that he's worked with a good lot of Hall of Famers. That's not a knock, either. You can't win without great players.

What did Pop do in Game 6 with 30 left to play?

It could be argued pretty convincingly that Pop's decisions late in that game cost them the finals. It wasn't his aged roster's fault that they had no one to rebound on two late misses.

I've never been a Beasley fan, but giving him a shot seems like a cool thing for Riley to do. It helps out Beas, there's very little risk for the team and he does have a bit of talent. Maybe, just maybe this last cut was the wake up call he needed. And if it isn't they just cut him.

There's almost no negative side to this. Beasley wasn't a locker room cancer type player, he just gave little effort and was lacking in motivation. IMO Heat risk very little here with the non-guaranteed minimum contract, and have very high reward factor attached if they're able to squeeze something out of Beasley's think head.

This is another worthy signing of Riley's. If it doesn't work, cut him and lose nothing. If it those work, yet another notch on Riley's impressive belt.

Honest question to Heat fans, not interested in getting in an argument that will inevitably end in the same 5 guys accusing me of being a "hater".

If LeBron goes back to Cleveland will you respect his decision to "go home" or will you be jaded? Will you feel differently if he wins another title and leaves? Will you feel differently if they come up short and he leaves?

I ask because I truly think its closer to 50/50 than many want to believe. I won't even ask how anyone would feel if he went anywhere other than Cleveland because that's just not realistic IMO.

The reasons I believe he MAY.

Legacy- I think many would agree that Lebron is well on his way to being the best player of all time, and IF he were to win a title in that lowly city? That's as legendary as it gets.

Surrounding Talent- Some of you will have a real problem with this, but after 2014 wouldn't it be fair to say that Kyrie Irving will be a better "Robin" than Wade? I know some of your blood pressures just shot through the roof, but I don't think James really got all star like help the last few series. If Bynum finds a way to stay on the court I totally believe that Bynum-Irving are a better option for 2015.

Maturity- Lebron is my fav player in the league, I'm not afraid to admidt that as a Knicks fan. It's a joy watching a truely great player in the prime of their career. BUT, I will never believe that being a young guy under the first criticism of his basketball career had a lot to do with his original decision to leave Cleveland. I believe he was a mentally weak guy and he took the easy road out when things got tough. He was in his early 20's so looking back I'm not sure how many human beings would've turned down what Miami has to offer on and off the court. Now? I think he has matured in many areas in life, so if he did decide to go home, we all know the enormous amount of pressure he would assume. I think today's Lebron James welcomes that challenge.

That's only three reasons and three reasons many of you may dispute, but if you ask me saying it could go either way isn't unreasonable. Also this is NOT a reaction to the ridiculous amount of hype ESPN has already tried to throw in our faces about the decision II.

So the question remains, how would you feel?

Of course I'd be pissed we lost the top player of my lifetime to another team and we'd return to middle of the pack... but I'd get over it... I have a high pain tolerance as a Miami fan. It's a business and his life, I'm just a spectator enjoying it. But honestly don't think he'd go back to Cleveland... maybe another big name city but not Cleveland.

I'm still holding hope that Miami re-tools around him bringing in some new blood and spicing things up again.

Sad yes, upset no. He came and won 2, potentially 3 titles. I'll hold no grudge against him.

I still doubt he leaves though. Specially back to Cleveland.
