Depends which stream and where you get it from. Ironically the common one used around here folks don't realize they offer a HD version via app which 90% of the time works just fine on my 55" (sometimes you do get a bad stream that can't be helped).

I never have any luck getting discounts. I called to cancel my renewal this year and they were like "OK! Anything else we can do for you today?"

Some of the reps must be starting to catch on and calling bluffs.

Wifey is calling in for me (I have no stomach for negotiating my own things). She's a shark. I'm down to cancel the whole thing if they don't play ball. I'll go to the bar or watch replay or whatever.

I'm trying to avoid the bar option. Man, the year after I cancelled the ticket I started going to the sports bar. Gained 15 lbs. I can't go back to that dark place again. *shivers in the shower with his clothes on*

Me too. Especially because the games come on at 10:00 am here. But it is what it is. We'll figure this out.

Kind of crazy because I negotiate the moon for my clients. But when it comes for my own things I just can't do it. I'm embarrassed. Lol.

Fingers crossed, wifey is calling them right now. I even leave the room when she does it.

are you serious? You have to make sure that you are speaking to the right department. Don't call and say you want to cancel the sunday ticket from renewing. That won't get you anywhere... you have to call to cancel the whole friggin directv subscription. That will get you through to the retention department. Then just say something to the effect of, I've been a customer for X amount of years, and when I started out my bills were so much cheaper than they are now. With this economy and several options at my disposal, I have verizon calling me weekly offering me deep discounts to switch over. Can you lower my monthly bill? They'll kneel to you at that point and ask you how much you want to pay. I'm not bull ****ting. And if they don't do this, hang up the phone and call again. It's worth it. Then after they discount you down to a respectable level, (you'll get credits for at least 12 months at least $20 off per month, I got $35 off monthly plus an upgrade to Genie for free plus free everything for 2 months (HBO showtime...etc etc. that's how I got to download Game of Thrones for 3 seasons lol...I digress ) I'm also paying $189 for the ticket. See, they gave me the discounts before I said I wanted a discount for the ticket... they were all fed up with me at that point and said the $189 was the best they could LMAO...

Now every customer is different... you will not get the same discount as me... a friend of mine got the ticket for free plus a $20 discount for 12 months but he didn't get a receiver upgrade to the Genie like I did. The only catch is that they got me for another 2 year contract... which is okay because the ticket only runs thru DTV till the end of 2014 anyway..

BTW, if you guys are calling now for discounts, it's a hard thing to try to pull off. the reps are up to their eye balls this weekend with the opening of the season... just remember, if you have DTV, you'll get the first week of games free as the ticket is open to everyone this weekend

Renew for one year, and got the ticket for Free. Fine with me. Allows me to threaten to cancel next year :D

She went from retention to an account specialist. Probably a fancy name for another retention dude.

For the first time, in my area, we had true competition. I called the competition and they made me all kinds of offers. I hate change though.

Called my carrier, told them I wanted Sunday Ticket for 50% off and other goodies.

They gave me 50% off Sunday Ticket (I'm paying $24.99 a month for 4 months), 50% my HD package for 3 months (works out to a $18.00 a month savings for 3 months) and a $10.00 overall discount on my bill for the next 12 months.

In January I'm going to call the competition again and see if I can get some good stuff then as well.

Overall, the savings work out so that I'm getting NHL Gamecenter for free this season.

Who me? I didn't spend a minute on the phone. Hahaha so it's even better! She also got $10 off for 12 months. So $120 Plus whatever sunday ticket max costs. And if it's not Max she'll call tomorrow to kick some more arse.

So no need to go to the bar at 10am for me!

Abso-freakin-lutely! I gave up my DTV a loooong time ago. Did the madden deal in June.

    Anyway:

Google-Sunday Ticket Deal Could Change TV Forever

"Google is reportedly negotiating with the National Football League (NFL) in an effort to take over rights to the NFL's Sunday Ticket package. If the two sides reach a deal it could be a major boost for online broadcasting."

"Google and the NFL have both confirmed the meetings have taken place, but won't say exactly what they were talking about."

<raises hand> I'm one. I will follow whoever it is that gets the rights to broadcast the games live. But the problem with internet video is obvious. The live streaming quality is a product of your ISP download rate. The more you pay for that, the better download rates you can get. I have no problem hooking up my laptop to my big screen TV to get the games. Still, the quality of the video is not going to be as good (even if you have the fastest rates money can buy). I do realize though that this is the future of TV, internet video streaming. This way you HAVE to watch the commercials even if you are watching a recorded version of the TV program. A battle between DVR's and commercials is upon us. Being able to record a show and then fast forward thru the ****ty ****ing commercials is one of the greatest "inventions" of all time. I guess I can see Google getting the rights and then offering an upgraded version for less (or no) commercials. All about fleecing the public for more and more money. See what I'm getting at here?

Guys! This is my first year with NFL Sunday Ticket, and I'm a bit confused with how it works.

If I tune to the channel (115), it's just a blank black screen and the box tells me "You are authorized for this service." Should I be tuning to some other channel or do they just not show anything there until game time?

    EDIT: Nevermind...found it. Game's on 706 today.

Just got NFL redzone Max free yesterday through the retention dept. They drop my bill $10 and gave me $30 off the Mayweather fight. Just lie and say your leaving to Time Warner because its cheaper for the same content but don't be rude about it. I always say I want to cancel at the end of the month so if im not successful I can cancel my cancellation. I think it help being out of contract also.

Ya I'm definitely keeping that in mind, thanks for the tip.

May not matter next year, the NFL is supposedly in talks with Google to let them take over the NFL Sunday Ticket program.

I told them since my contract is up I'd like to cancel unless I can get a promo on Sunday ticket. The gave it to me for a one time payment of $74.99 and included Showtime for free and $5 a month off my bill. Last year I got SUnday Ticket comped when I said I'd cancel DTV.

I would say on average, subscribers to DTV pay $1,000 a year for their regular programming.. not including the ticket. If you think about it, if you get the ticket for free, you are only getting roughly 25% off your annual bill.

I subscribe, yet the channels are NOT showing up on the guide. It goes from 699 to 719. I can go to the individual channels (like 706) but cannot currently scroll through the guide, set up future recordings, etc. extremely annoying. I called DTV and they said it should fix itself (and they wonder why they frequently rank so low on customer service).

    Way to go DTV. Idiots.

True. The best part is she left town for a bachelorette party so open weekend in my bed still in my PJ's all day baby! I can sit here until 7pm and never get up.

Stupid lawn mowing and car washing will probably get me up though. Good thing about Miami at 10:00 am is I have all afternoon to run errands :D
