Its already been posted that Tanny has problems judging Wallace speed on the deep routes. Try Wallace on the inside routes to give him a chance to out run the inside coverage. He's had big gains from the short stuff. I think too many ppl are ok with today because we won which is the be all and end all when it comes to the end result. This game was won with half an Offense. No Running game and our best WR (questionable?) being used as a "decoy". As soon as opposition Defenses stop respecting Wallace as a decoy then the Hartline/Gibson wont be as lethal. Then its down to whether Tannehill can get on the same page as Wallace. Liked alot how Tanny went to Hartline and Gibson and it worked huge. Just think there is too much hype around Wallace contract and expectations to expect Wallace to like his outing and performance today from his own perspective and a general one.
you don't just "stop" respecting 4.3 speed. It doesn't just go away. Although sure, i hope your right. If Tannehill ever sees one on one coverage he'll let it rip.
Those 3 or 4 deep throws made Cleveland back their safety's off the LOS further. These guys are competitive human beings. Part of being uber competitive is being selfish.
I updated my post before i saw your post. Tannehill has to get on the same page with Wallace or that speed respect wont be as much of a weapon if he cant hit him in stride.
He's a competitive guy and I'm sure he's just blowing off some steam. His presence was definitely felt in how it benefited our overall passing attack. If RTH throws a better pass on the sideline, he has a huge play. RTH spent last year throwing to Hartline, Bess and a bunch of bums. No one even had remotely close to the same amount of speed. I'm sure it takes some time getting used to that. Plus the Browns were really creating some pressure early in the game. I think we will see Wallace used more next week and rack up some good stats.
This isnt nothing. This is Sherman. It takes a great QB to hide just how incredibly uninventive you are as an offensive coordinator. I'd grow a pair and can the guy today. You spent 60 mil to wait an entire half before you at the very least air one out, just to see, just to get an idea, just to let the defense know whats up, that they have to respect. No designed plays for the new toy. Not one. No motion. No lining up for mismatches- nothing. The only credit i give Sherman is abandoning the run late in the game. Kudos for that. If you cant run out the clock, just score enough so that a comeback is out of the question.
IMO Tannehill had only 1 bad pass to Wallace - the one where he underthrew him. The one on the sidelines was an accurate ball that Wallace could not get to because of Haden's contact on him. The other one, Wallace stumbled because again, Haden made contact with him. The only negative aspect i see, not overly concerning yet really, is that they need to utilize Wallace on more than deep routes. Get him more involved underneath.
Wallace made a "trash talking" statement earlier this week about Haden, then it didn't prove to be true. So of course the guy is pissed about not being able to have the stats to back up his statement.
I dont agree with how he handled himself and i dont agree with you. Philbin may need to sit this young boy down and figue out how to get the ball in his hands.
No. Sorry. I want the guy on my team that wants the ball. You enjoy knowing the amount of money we gave him. We all will enjoy the win. Th best CB in the league was getting burned.
I agere completely. There's nothing I can add to this. Sherman's play calling and offensive formations are as easy to figure out as a 1 character password. Running into the teeth of that Defense in the first quarter was bad. Sherman did nothing in the first half to help the offense and if not for the outstanding performance on Defense, the second half could have been as ugly as the first half. He really needs to take advantage of the talent he has on offense. With this talent, Shula would have put up 30 points or more.
I feel his pain....He needs to be catching passes and making plays. Joe Haden had a lot to do with it in my opinion, I think we'll see more of Mike Wallace next week.
Nope. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Tanne had a hell of a game. Get Wallace involved and we will be putting up points to run with the best in the league. Tannehil is ready to explode. We have C4 in an 11. Lets start working to make it lethal.
We get guys on this football team that demand the ball and you guys make these comments about them. Its a catch 22 with the lot of you. You all treated Marshall the same. I feel so sorry for Chicago and all of that selfishness that is reaping havoc over there. 60 mil isnt enough. He wants the glory and i for one f@$king love it.
You expect maybe that Wallace won't want the ball? Of course he's ticked. Maybe he saw something he thinks the coaches or Tanny didn't see. As soon as he and Tanny get in sync, which may take most of the season, he will catch some long balls and be happy.
And if we're not winning? You singing the same tune? For the sake of this argument you would be still upset with his antics, right? Ofcourse. It justifies your post. No. You dont have to teach him anything. You need some teaching. 2 + 2 = his role is to score touchdowns = he wants the ball - his post game comments for the reporters = good news for us.
More crying comments. Sickening. Our top FA signing wants the ball. What a stupid cry baby, right? What an attitude. He obviously needs to go. Lets get 2 3rd round picks for a guy who wants the ball. Guess we really are used to loser mentality around here.
are you kidding me right now? He's crying because he didnt fill out his stat sheet today.... yet we won the game. What's more important for the Miami Dolphins... a win... or Wallace's stats? I'll take the win thanks. So, if we lost, yet Wallace had Gibsons numbers today... we should all be happy, Mike Wallace included? Didnt think so... He's being a crybaby, because he wanted to make an impact, and he did... it just wasnt on the stats sheet. Big deal. The only stat that matters in the NFL is wins, and losses. We got the win today. Good enough for me, and it should be good enough for Wallace. There's no reason why it shoudlnt be. I'm sure he'll be a bigger part of the gameplan moving forward, especially as teams adjust to the effectiveness of Hartline and Gibson.
Please remember this post when we lose. We had how many turnovers and went in with what score into halftime? Why are you guys so content to be mediocre? I feel like Tanne could've had 5 TDs out there the way he was throwing today.
He went against one of the best cover CBs in the NFL with a safety over the top. Very hard to get a deep ball in that situation IMO. Wallace probably wanted to get the ball other ways BUT hardline, Gibson, and clay had good days. He just needs to stfu and let it come to him. I eect more success against other corners or when other DC will feel comfortable taking the safety off the top.
Who's content to be mediocre? We're content with a win. Even if we got it without force feeding our "#1 WR" the ball.
The whole point is we did win. And when your team wins an opener rather you have a valid case or not, you can't act like a baby in that setting. I want him to WANT the ball, that's good. But recognize your GD surroundings.
No. It bothers me that they did not connect, but I expect they will look at film and work it out. They did take a number of deep shots so they tried. I like that. I like that Wallace decided not to talk even if he made a parting comment. I like that he wants to perform and to get his catches and that he is competitive. I think his presence helped the offense and showed that he attracts attention. Only so many DB's to go around.
He just wanted to make that instant free agent splash the ways guys like Reggie Bush did today, and it didn't happen for him. I honestly think he'll get his moment in the sun in the weeks to come. Make no mistake about it though....We need him and if this would have ended in a loss I think a lot of us would be singing a different tune right now. Winning seems to cure everything for the moment, but let him only catch one pass in a playoff game that results in a loss and then see what people are saying. It's great that we won, but Wallace has got to be the focal point of our offense in my opinion. Joe Haden is the best CB in the game in my opinion, and I think it was smart to stay away from throwing in his direction, but Mike Wallace can't have games like this if we are going to be a playoff team. I don't care if Jesus Christ is covering him.
Ya and that DB really knows Wallace...been going 1 on 1 with him for years...most DBs we're going to see this year won't be so familiar.
I'm not surprised he's upset, nor do I blame him. He usually roasts the Browns, and knows better than any of us how bad that team is. For him to be upset with how he was used, and seeing how a non-Steelers team does against the Browns, might be giving him a bit of reality check about the franchise he signed with. This game in general has me a little bit worried about this roster. The Browns were severely depleted on both sides of the ball and we had difficulty with them. This team might be worse than I thought.
Don't have even a slight clue of what you're talking about. If the o-line had even a DECENT game it would have been a train-wreck blow out win of disgusting proportions
The perception that the Browns suck... perplexes me just a bit here. Offensively, yes... but they've got a good defense over there.
Actually he didn't... http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/09/08/3612299_p2/armando-salguero-mike-wallace.html#storylink=cpy
Wait a second, listen I understand and read your post and I know part of his job was to stretch the field, open the game for others (taking their best CB out of the game!) but still i was scratching my head none stop in the first half that why would you not use him better? Why is he designated to run straight up the sideline?? Cant we do some cross routes, slants, quick tosses and let him use his speed to RUN past defenders??? He's a legit #1 receiver and if was Philbin I would address this and get him in the game much sooner.
Are you kidding me right now? This isn't about stats, guy. And to be honest with you, I couldn't give an exquisite, 5 lbs losin, belt fitting better s&@t on why he wants the football. We beat the Cleveland Browns with our defense playing viscously beautiful football. I don't want to just beat the Cleveland Browns of the NFL and I'm sorry about the majority of shortsighted attitude lingering in this forum. I promise you that we will need Wallace to catapult us to where it is we ALL want to go, whether we agree on the other tiny details or not. I appreciate your comments on moving forward. Now its about seeing how we adjust. We did win the opener. Its a day to rejoice and if you could here the jungle it is in my living room right now, you would understand that i am not being a grump. I am celebrating as we all should be. But I'm telling you right now. Tanne is ready for king of the mountain top but he'll need Wallace as a sherpa(sp?). If your offensive coordinator does this piss poor of a job of trying to get this combustible chemistry bubbling, hell, it should be an offense punishable by lashings. Keep calling him a cry baby. We'll see who's crying once the Patriots and teams of the like are putting up 4 tds and we dont have the firepower, the chemistry, nor the play-calling to keep up.
