After a tough win against the Browns, the Dolphins should have a fair bit of confidence going into next week's game (except the run blocking). I'm looking for a 27-17 win, considering how we've looked and how Indianapolis looked against the bottom rated Raiders. Luck had solid completion percentage, low yards, couple touchdowns and no picks. He killed 'em with his feet, we'll need to watch out for that for sure. On the flipside, and I don't know much about Indy's defense, the Raiders put up a lot of rushing and passing yards on them. For a team that is probably picked to lose every game this year, they almost beat Luck and his boys. I'd like to think we match up with them considerably well. Thoughts?
Ill be there, with me at a Fins game in Indy the Fins are 10-0. Endthread/ Realistically I think we match.up much better against the Colts especially on both lines. As long as we keep Luck in the pocket and come.down with picks when the dbs get their hands on the ball and the Fins will win
He only had like 178 yards passing against Dohkland, 68 yards rushing and a score in their home game. I'd think there's as much concern if not more from their side as on ours...the Raiders are not a very good team on either side of the ball. This would be a good time to get our run game started and get some confidence before playing better defenses later on.
So basically a pickum, with the Colts getting the 3 point home nudge. Sounds pretty close to the Browns line.
Luck will watch the CLE game and start gulping at Cameron Wake. No Chuck Strong BS motivating them this year. I see a win baby.
Indy's OLine is pure trash. I still have no idea how they made the playoffs last year, let alone with Luck healthy. Worst OLine in the league, imo...we will abuse them up front.
Amen...with the way our D is playing, he's gonna have a rough go of it. My main question mark is Indy's D. Don't really know anything about them, but they gave up a lot of ground yards to Oakland (although many were the QB), so they can't be THAT good. They DID get 2 INTs on Pryor though, but I haven't seen the plays so I don't know if they were more good D or bad QB/blown route/etc. Edit: After reading up a bit, sounds like the INTs were on Pryor, quote: "Pryor threw two interceptions, both in the red zone, and took a 16-yard sack with 68 seconds to go after Oakland reached the Indy 8-yard line. Two plays later, he was picked off by Antoine Bethea at the Colts 4." http://sports.yahoo.com/news/colts-lucks-feet-past-oakland-200600219--nfl.html
I think that it will be a tight game, but definately one thats winnable for the Fins. Both teams have their strengths and weaknesses. I lump both in there as a second tier AFC squad fighting for a playoff spot. Their passing game is probably slightly better than ours. Both running games are likely about equal, in spite of the garbage that we showed this afternoon. Both offensive lines have some holes. On defense though, while they have a few quality players, its not a strength the way Miami's is. Our defense is capable of setting the tone for the game. We need to bring it the same way that we did against the Browns, knowing that Luck is going to hit paydirt more than Weeden could.
as bad as their o-line may or may not be... it was not a fun game to watch last time.... Luck was throwing completions mid-sack on multiple occasions... we could NOT stop him... I hope the secondary upgrades and tweaks to the d line were enough.
I think this game will be close, just like it was last year. I haven't decided what my prediction will be (I'll wait for injury reports mid-week), but I'll be surprised if the difference is more than 3 or 4 points.
Positives for us: - Our D-line can get to Luck early and beat him mentally - Our run game could improve vs a weak run defense - Our pass attack will continue to thrive against a weak overall defense Negatives for us: - If Weeden could run it would have been a different game. We flush him out of the pocket but struggled to get him. If Luck destroyed Oakland with his feet we cannot do that - Andrew Luck is a great qb and it will be a greater challenge to the secondary than today. Not much that I see scary from the Colts, but I will never underestimate what Luck can do. If we get to him early and often, then I say we will end 2-0. If he gets to a rhythm early on then our offense needs to score often to keep up. It will be more of a challenge, but we have a good chance. Prediction: We win with a late 4th quarter drive to go up 28-24
I'd almost forgotten about that. Blocked it out maybe, lol. He just kept pulling play after play out of nowhere. The Fins played well enough to win against most NFL QBs in that game. Luck was just unreal. That being said, if Sean Smith could catch, we would have likely won. Lets hope the rookies are ready to play in the secondary.
Collapse the pocket and win, solid coverage on the receivers and win. Everything will else will take care of itself, but those should be the foci. Do not let Dwayne Allen go Jordan Cameron on us. Luck will make you pay if you let him convert on third down, as evidenced by last year.
I noticed that Dimitri wears #24 and it got me thinking today....Did dimitri patterson intercept the same amount of passes for us in one game that Sean Smith did in 3 years?
I think Andrew Luck dies next Sunday. That's not a threat, or saying I hope he gets hurt. I really think he is murdered on the field next Sunday with the way our D is playing.
Luck's a horse. I don't see us rattling him too much, but he's still human, and pressure leads to mistakes. Need to force a few.
He was quoted as saying that he was fine after the game. I suppose that we could hope he needs extra rest until week three before he feels 100%
If the officials called the blatant offensive holding on Cameron Wake last year we would have won that game. IIRC on two of Luck's TDs Wake was tackled to the ground as he was beat his man and was on the way to the sack. It got written up somewhere by the national media as bad officiating so it wasn't us being homers on that one.
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap2000000239903/Reggie-Wayne-catches-first-TD TD while having a guy right in his face and another at his side. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap2000000239965/Dwayne-Allen-20-yard-TD Instantly hit and he just chucks it up there for the TD. Luck really does have all the .........Luck. Horseshoe up his backside.
Luck is just a bear to sack. He's strong, quick and has incredible pocket awareness. But he is prone to forcing passes and to throwing inaccurate passes. I think the key will be to stop him from escaping the pocket and capitalizing on the passes he forces from there. On offense, we need to manufacture more long hand-offs if the run game isn't working. For example, I saw some opportunities to hit hit Wallace on hitches when the DB was way off. Those should almost be automatic. Those are five easy yards that have the possibility of breaking big. It also opens up the hitch and go opportunity. I'd like to see more quick passes to the backs. Maybe some moving pockets where RT has a run option. As well as little read option. I only recall seeing one of those against the Browns.
I have a feeling the coaching staff didn't want to show their whole hand yet because they thought they could win either way. It was a gamble, but it worked, and the upcoming teams on our schedule still don't have much film on plays like that. Maybe in the Colts game we'll unleash some more of the playbook.
i'm really worried about our CB's situation, although patterson in his postgame interview said, that the groin is no issue and he will be ready to play next week, we need the 2 rooks to show up on the practice field this week
THe hope is that the more we see of Dion Jordan, Dion Sims, Jamar Taylor... the better this team gets. I am not including Will Davis because I think he is so mistake prone at this point that he will hurt you more than help you in a REAL game with smart OC's attacking his weaknesses.
Our defensive line played well last year, hitting Andrew Luck all game. The problem? Luck still managed to make remarkable play after remarkable play. It might have been his most impressive performance all year. The Dolphins secondary also missed a couple of opportunities to intercept the ball, which most likely would have won the for Miami.
