Something coming from Blizzard?!?

I dont get the polish arguement either call them shallow maybe..spoonfeeding maybe..but unpolished doesnt make any sense I have never heard of a "bug ridden" launch or any graphical complaints on the scale 99% of the rest of the industry has..Im not a fan of blizzard so much anymore since they have become the 90000 pound gorilla.. they seem to have forgotten some of the things that got them were they are but to call anything they release not polished is a rather odd attempt to knock them.

 

I loved Total Annihilation, and StarCraft. Total Annihilation definitely did somethings better than SC. I'm not sure it's a better game - I'd give SC the nod because of b.net - but I definitely cant begrudge anyone for thinking so. However, I still think Blizzard is a great company, that makes some super fun games w/ amazing last power.

Eh, I'm not going to bash a company for scrapping a game that wouldnt live up to their standards. Compared to companies that just mass produce garbage, that's buggy as hell, or doesnt run at all without a patch, it's actually a bit refreshing to see.

 

while i know maj posted a link already, just by looking at the background for the page i can tell you its for the new WoW expansion. The area thats going to be released in the new expansion is completely covered with ice and snow. So the background full of ice cystals made it pretty obvious.

edit: and calling blizz's games unpolished is ridiculous, they delay games and patches in order to make sure they work correctly and if there are bugs that are game altering they tend to fix them very quickly.

When you started a game, you either joined an in-progress battle for a planet, or you began a war on a new one. When the galaxy was conquered by one side, the whole thing reset.

Battle.net is nothing.

And Blizzard games are unpolished. Patches do not equal polish, otherwise Tribes 2 would be the most polished game in the history of the industry. Games that are polished: Portal, Team Fortress 2, Homeworld, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Mario Kart 64, Megaman ZX, Max Payne, Supreme Commander, Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions.

 

dude.... I dont know if some Blizzard developer screwed you over or something, but you got it out for them bad. Meh. Enjoy.

 

With all the free MMO's out there now, I don't have a reason to touch WOW. (Yes and I am aware of WOWRage)

I found the quality of free MMO's like Cabal Online much more satisfying than seeing that $15/month disappear from my pocket.

 

I played WoW for almost 2 yrs. They've released some very buggy patches, and anything they introduced a new feature it almost always didn't work as planned (BG's, BWL was horrid when they first released, untested and buggy as a mofo). Now I will say that WoW release and BC release were pretty bug free. I didn't really play War/Starcraft around the inital launches so can't really comment on how good they were on release.

You mean Diablo 2 LOD? That game is 8 years old. I played the **** out of it.

 

I bought it the day it came out and played it so much it wasn't even funny. Got an awesome Mod for it a few years ago...I think it was called Eastern Sun that made it like a brand new game again. I lost 100s of more hours of sleep.

 

Dammit I missed that one. I had all the hacks and mods on my old college HP that took a dive a few years ago.

It's actually Ice, as some of it has been apparently melting away over time, revealing more of the "teaser".

Some may expect that to automatically be linked to WOTLK, but this is definitely the "new" project that Blizzard had been so secretive about. Due to the type of artists they were targeting some time ago for this project "Hydra"(fantasy), it is probably a safe bet that Diablo will see a new title announced. It is a huge franchise for them all over the globe, and having it coming out after Starcraft 2 and forthcoming WoW expansions would put Blizzard in an unbelievable position in the gaming market.

 

Anyone calling Blizzard unpolished simply has no business posting about video games. They literally hold out launches for like a year to work out bugs and to balance the game through beta testing. The games always run great, which if you've been a fan of PC gaming through the years is a MAJOR flaw in initial runs for tons of games. They also put out a very small number of games, they could easily be on Diablo 8 or Starcraft 7 and just be cashing in and cashing in. They have always stuck by their quality over quantity mentality and have a much deserved reputation for quality games. Honestly having to defend them seems silly, I don't like everything they've done but after playing video games for like 25 years I can honestly say they are easily one of the best companies out there.

What makes you say that just curious? I am still thinking its a new title.

I know blizzard is working on a new mmo which they said has nothing to do with previous titles. Although not sure thats this game announced since it wouldnt make a ton of sense with wotlk coming.

I don't know im skeptical its diablo 3 but i may be completely wrong.

 

You would think that making a Diablo MMO would be duplicating WoW so you think it would be different. I would think they would make a starcraft MMO if they were going that route. With Starcraft 2 on the way it makes sense to go with a Diablo 3.

 

All this talk of Diablo makes me want to reinstall it and play it again.
