Adam Caplan @caplannfl 41m Dolphins worked out 8 players including QBs: Austin Davis, James Vandenberg, and Nick Stephens. Aaron Wilson @RavensInsider 3h Dolphins tryout included quarterback Austin Davis, corner Devin Smith, who was signed, and quarterbacks James Vandenberg and Nick Stephens So the qb workouts are most likely tied to his injury and / or possible roster manipulation. I say possible in that there is a small chance the team might try to move him down to the practice squad. I hope not, but have to at least acknowledge it. Nick Stephens is a real interesting name. Spent training camp with the Cowboys most recently. Went to school at Tarleton State!
I guess we'll just have to go and get a guy who WON'T lock in to receivers. Sent from my LG-MS770 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Oh, no... One game into the season and they're already looking to bail on Tannehill. Looks like another rebuild is on the way .
Some one might believe you here because Ireland was here when Tannehill was drafted be easy there. lol
Nonsense, it's simple foresight for a change. With an offensive line like ours, were going to need 6 QB's before the season is done.
Devin Smith's pro day looked pretty good. Dates: 03/06/13 Height: 5103 Weight: 182 40 Yrd Dash: 4.49 20 Yrd Dash: 2.57 10 Yrd Dash: 1.57 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 17 Vertical Jump: 35 1/2 Broad Jump: 10'03" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 3.99 3-Cone Drill: 6.60
Devlin is still nicked so Davis goes on the PS to run the scout team. Presley was with us all last year so they know what he has (and doesn't have). Smith is a new guy to kick the tires. Surprised when the Pats cut Francis we didn't try and sign him to our PS. Curious especially since Pupelo (or however he spelled it) was already released from the PS
I'm just goofing with meister because another thread had dozens of posts regarding the nuances of Tanny either staring down receivers or looking off defenders. I wanted meister to know I'm watching him...intently...muahahaha
Davis is similar to Devlin in that he is smart and has limited arm strength. He was a very good leader at USM and didn't mind getting in some faces. Saw a lot him running Larry Fedora's offense. His stay might not be long, but I am excited about him being with the Dolphins being a USM graduate. Always pull for fellow alumni from USM and UGA. Need to get some more Georgia guys on this roster lol.
I thought he looked pretty good in the video highlights I saw. Had some catch-up speed, and good anticipation/reaction when the ball was in the air.
His shuttle would have been 3rd best at the combine behind B.W. Webb and Desmond Trufant. His cone would have been 2nd best, behind just some dude named Will Davis, who had the best cone time at the combine.
Hopefully if they sign any of the 3 QBs they brought in, they get Vandenberg. He is a sharp kid, with a quick and accurate release like Marino. I think he'd work his way up the food chain rather quickly. He had a good Combine. 40 Yrd Dash: 4.83 20 Yrd Dash: 2.76 10 Yrd Dash: 1.73 Verical Jump: 34 Broad Jump: 09'08' 20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.33 3-Cone Drills: 6.95
