eh the hitting is there. the bullpen was great in august and just got into a slump at a bad time. even sabbathia and pettite played well. its more of a case we cant get all three rolling at the same time. we have destroyed boston pitching though.

I give Yankees credit for fighting. Time is just running out. Again we need to many teams to lose now. How quickly things change. It could be us winning these three games and in great shape. Maybe there odds go back to 40-1 and I put a small bet down

Jeter just doesn't look right at all. I really think the Yankees should just shut him down for the year and get him healthy for 2014.

Our starters outpitched yours. You just got lucky that our bullpen had some long overdue bad outings

The only Yankee starter that truly out pitched a Sox starter in this series was Pettitte out pitching Doubront. Peavy was better then Nova, sadly Lackey was better than Huff. Kuroda and Lester, I'd say was a push, yeah Lester gave up 1 more run but also pitched 2 extra innings with the same number of pitches but even if want to give the edge to Kuroda fine, I'm not really up for debating it.

Bottom line was the Sox took 3 out of 4 against the Yankees in New York. But I guess you need something to hang your hat on.

Please, you're team is soft, full of duck dynasty rejects, and if we play you in the playoffs we will destroy you. Ichiro makes that catch 9 out of 10 times and rivera gets that out 19 out of 20 times. This was your world series. Unfortunately for you it came in september

I don't even know how to respond to this post, it's that delusional and over the top. Why can't you just accept the fact that the Sox are the better team this year? What's wrong with that? Instead it's just excuse after excuse after excuse.

I like Adam, he's a good guy, but when it comes to talking Yankee baseball it certainly brings out the worst in him at times, especially the entitlement crap.

Just admit you needed a couple of fluke plays to break your way for you to win that series. If you don't get them we win the series 3-1. Let's not pretend that this is a sign you are better than us. You've played more consistently than us during the year I will grant you and you deserve 1st place butr come playoff time we all start 0-0 and that is when we will take you out. You have used up your good luck in september. We have used up our bad luck in september. Come october lady luck will dump your brokeback mountain, cowboy up, lumberjack wannabe team and party down with the boys from new york cruising down broadway in a limo full of coke and champagne showing off her **** for all the world to see.

So the Yankees winning on Sunday wasn't on a fluke play? Or how they scored their first two runs? You can play that "luck" card for any game. Again just excuses for the sake of excuses.

And you're right winning a 4 game series isn't a sign that one team is better than the other. The standings are usually a good judge.

I agree in October, anything can happen. Just because the Sox have the best record in baseball as of today doesn't mean come October they're guaranteed anything. I wouldn't be surprised if any team that got into the playoffs win it all. That's just the way things go.

Nah dude, we're friends even in September and October. Like I said in the earlier post, I like you. I just think you take things to the extreme too much and with all due respect your homerism clouds your judgement at times.

homerism. Extremism in the defense of pinstripes is no vice at all as goldwater said. I am a yankee fan. You are a red sox fan. You're the jets to my dolphins, the rangers to my islanders, the rosanne barr to my milla jokovic. I see a softness in your pitching that I believe will preclude you from winning the world series. I see in my team periodic dominance in all the three phases that hasn't quite meshed yet all at the same time. If we can getstarting pitching, bullpen and hitting to mesh at the same timme then I believe we can bag another ring. Will it happen? Who knows? As jt pointed out time is running out for us. But I've seen it before so I see no reason why it won't happen again

That's fine if you believe all of that but I should simply point out the hypocrisy for calling the Red Sox pitching "soft" due to a 4 game series yet think the Yankees pitching is any better when they were beat up, even more so, then the Sox pitching. The majority of the Sox pitchers had a tough weekend, but it's hard to ignore how good the starting pitchers have been all year, especially in the weeks leading up to the past Yankee series. The Sox bullpen, specificially getting to Koji, has been an issue all year and will continue to be so, there's no denying that and that's part of the reason why Game 1 and Game 3 weren't blow outs. That's going to be the biggest question mark going into postseason play.

But again that's fine if you think that. And I'm not even saying if the Yankees make the playoffs they can't beat the Sox if they meet up or even win the WS because anything can happen in a short series. It just seems like you're ignoring the fact that the Yankees pitchers got beat up in the series but brush it off like its no big deal.

that's because as a Yankees fan I am the eternal optimist. I see the best case scenario. No matter how bad things look we all know it can change on a dime. From the Chris Chambliss home run to Craig Nettles miraculous third base performance to reggie's home runs, to bucky dent to aaron boone to jim leyritz's blast, to jeffrey meir's catch to derek jeter's flip to home all yankees fans know that the magic can come anytime. and when it does it carries us. and it likes the yankees

you are a red sox fan. you are by nature a pessimist. you see all that can go wrong. 85 years of futility will do that to a fanbase. the big red machine, bucky dent, bill buckner, aaron boone. yeah you tasted a magical season and got another ring after that but in the back of your minds 2011 meltdown scenarios play

you look at our pitching staff and see the troubles they have had but in the back of your mind you pray that sabbathia doesnt find his old form in late september, that kuroda doesnt go back to his nasty self, that andy isnt finding his groove in september because if they do then with our batting lineup and bullpen we become a force

anyway. should be an interesting september and thanks for beating the rays for us. hope you sweep them:yes:

Yankees made a trade for SS Brendan Ryan. Great glove but no bat. Probably will be a late inning defensive replacement. Also probably tells you all you need to know about Jeter. Also he won't be able to play in the playoffs if the Yankees make it.

Maybe. I know Fangraphs did an article this year saying that the Yankees should target Ryan due to the other SS options the Yanks had.

Not when you bring in a player outside of your organization after August 31st. For a player to be eligible for the post season they must be in the organization, whether they're at the MLB level or the minors, they don't have to be on the 40 man roster, on August 31st.

Yeah, that's why there is such a big deal about the August 31st waiver wire deadline since that's the last day teams can get players eligible for the playoffs. If the player is already in the organization, then you're right there are plenty of loopholes a team can do to get them on the playoff roster but they still need to be with the organization by the 31st or no dice.

Jeter is being put on the DL, his season is over as Cashman said he won't be back even if the Yankees make the playoffs. His doctor said his ankle needs to get stronger and there's really no time this season for that to happen. It's really for the best, he just wasn't healthy all year and was a risk to himself and the team.

Kind of sad that Jeter and Rivera played their last game together.
