I just think that the only legitimate reason (sort of) to pick Cleveland over Miami for Lebron would be so that Cleveland fans like him again. I don't see how it makes sense to downgrade your organizational support, your chances of being the unquestioned GOAT, your international marketing opportunities, etc. At best you can make the argument that they might have a nice roster (with Lebron added) for a little while, but your odds of attracting those key FAs that you always need are diminished and your odds of having those roster pieces already in place defect to other teams are increased.

Why would having the best player in the league on your team increase the odds of players already on the team leaving? That seems like an incredible leap in assumptions to me.

Relative to Miami. Lebron would be going from a situation where his supporting cast is less likely to leave to one where they're more likely to leave.

Just a fact. I am sure it was just a coincidence that his game drastically improved here, and he started smashing the league. In Cleveland, he was winning 60 games and being called "the biggest choker in the history of the game."

    Now..he is "winner guy".

Maybe a few Hall of Famers, and a great organization had a little to do with it? These are just facts.

That was just a convenient excuse that Celtics fans came up with to excuse their 4-1 dismissal at the hands of the Heat in 2011.

At the time, the "Narrative" was that Perkins allowed them to be more physical with the Heat and rebound with them. (At the time, the Heat was a very good rebounding team)

The truth is that guys like me and others, always felt that Perkins was a specialist. meaning, he should be locked in a glass case that says "Break Glass in case of All-Star center coming to town."

he is a very good post defender, and NOTHING else.

That was a great trade for the Celtics.

Theres a really good chance a few HOFERS and a solid organization (the pain, oh the pain of saying that!) had everything to do with that. Going back to the years prior to Lebron being a free agent, I said than that if Wade leaves Miami, which I never thought he seriously would consider but IF it were to happen, Id want him over Lebron in NY. Thats a sentiment I would still go with today provided Wade was healthy. I truly think he is a player you can put a franchise around much like Carmelo. Going back to Wade's time at Marquette I was on the Wade bandwagon long before people knew who he was. I was ticked when the Heat drafted him because, well, Im a Knick fan and the day I like the Heat will be a cold day in hell.

Im not sure I agree with all of that. Jeff Green is certainly a better player then Perkins but within the context of the way that Celtic team was constructed it was a poor trade. If we look at Garnett's career his biggest knocks going back to his time in Minnesota was that he was a bit soft and maybe not tough enough. Hes never wanted to be a center. Hes played some center for the good of the team but thats not where he plays best or feel most comfortable. Perkins brought that toughness so that Garnett could be Garnett and do what he does well. So while the trade most definitely improved the talent level of the Celtics it also altered team chemistry and continuity for the worse.

So Lebron was never going to mature as a player UNLESS he went to Miami.....false.

He was so mentally fragile that he needed a change of scenery, yes. But his greatness was inevitable, and now he could transform any NBA team in the league into a finals contender. (Even the Nets)

    riiiiiiiiight.

Because you saw it happen. He was going to lose anywhere where he did not have help and structure.

Even Jordan had a Top 50 of All-time Player, and another hall of famer....plus Phil Jackson.

he stayed in Cleveland..he would still be choker guy.

That's a good point. In 2011..Bosh played (the good KG) to a draw. If Bosh had to deal with Perkins as well (True Story, Bosh defeated Perkins H2H for the Texas State Championship), KG might get the upper hand, and that series goes longer.

We don't need lebron to hoist a championship nor do we want him. In two years jay z can deliver durant to us inexchange for a small share in a russian oil field and we'll be happy. Just in time to threepeat

If the heat don't get the rebound in gm 6 he's known for missing two or three three pointers in a row in the clutch. Instead they get the rebound (miller? BirdmAn? Don't remember and he knocks down a three. That single rebound transformed the offseason storyline

It was probably the last time the haters had any hope the Heat would lose.

Don't know if it was hope as much as likelihood. The odds favored the spurs at that point. The spurs choked the heat benefitted. Now the rest of the league has caught up. No way the heat get through the east this year. Hopefully the nets get a shot at them before the pacers or bulls and hopefully all three are healthy. No way they run the gauntlet if all three are healthy. Hell even the lowly knicks might present problems since they play into your weaknesses

Didn't you know? When the all-time leading Three Point shooter makes...uh..I don't know...A three point shot....from the most efficient spot on the floor (the right corner),,it....is...LUCK!

Notice how nobody ever mentions that the Spurs built their lead on completely lucky bull**** like 20% three point shooters hitting fadeaway threes and a steady collection of BS calls int eh 3rd to build a lead in the first place.

Had no idea our rings were easy. I mean I could have sworn it took a couple game sevens and hard work.

    What do I know.

I think at this point in the article you lose any credibility as an objective observer.

He stayed in Cleveland and we wouldn't be having this conversation and your Heatfreak.com site has 80% less members because Miami wouldn't have sniffed a final.

He has to to get his sports agent license and if you extrapolate what he got paid for his share to the value of the team then prokhorov just about doubled his investment in three years.

That is not my site. I just write for it during the season.

    Not so fast...

Heat had cap space....and would have added a third guy to go with Bosh and Wade.

They would have made a Final anyway. Now..do they win? I don't know.

What I don't get about all this Cleveland is young and has cap space talk...after this year, Miami can potentially have ONE player under contract. Unlike Cleveland, they have showed LeBron that they can bring people in and WIN. Even if he hops out, and 3/4 of the team will not be under contract, you don't think Riley will tell him, hey, what you want? We got it? Cmon now. It just...doesn't make sense. Any way you put it.
I am operaing under the assumption that all 3 hop out and re-sign, therefore Luxury Tax will stop being a worry. Combined with a potential TV deal heading this way, and Micky's deep pockets, you really think that after 2 or even potentially 3 championships with LeBron he is going to say "Okay, that was fun while it lasted, I don't want to spend money anymore"? Really? I just...don't understand why, for any reason would he leave Miami, especially if they won 3d straight.

To answer your question from few pages back, FinO, I would be disappointed, and probably mad for a little bit. For the reasons listed above. With that being said, I won't have any ill will against him and continue to root for him except for the times that he'll play the HEAT. He brought us 2 or maybe even 3 championships in 4 years, and a Finals appearance, not to mentions hours upon hours of exciting basketball.

Without Lebron I'm not sure wich final you guys would've made.

    Remember.

You would've had to play against an evolved LBJ, who has became a god.

The real question is if Lebron left for the team you hate the most (which for many Heat fans is probably NYK or Indiana) how would you feel now that you know you would have to see him?

They would be livid and if he goes anywhere other than Cleveland(not happening)?? Then even I would look at him differently, and I'm far from a Heat fan.
