When Keller went down I gave up all hope at TE for us this year outside of some Dion growth. Never had trust with Clay because his biggest plays were always the ones where it seems the other team forgot about him. Boy have I been wrong. 5 catches 109 yards. 5 for 54 last week. 10 for 163 yards in 2 weeks. Kudo's Clay!
Relive the glory! First person there to give him props. Wallace!
Consistency has been a big issue for Clay in the NFL. Looks like he is taking a step in the right direction... hope he keeps it up.
This is a really really good sign for the Dolphins. We could end this season with three good TE's. Egnew might see the lights come on later as well and Simms is sure thing solid guy for the future IMO. Philbin rules!
Always been big on Clay. I have said that it was only time before he broke out and became a contributor. Looks like he's finally putting in that extra effort to make plays and be consistent. He has had two really good games and I really think he'll only get better as the season goes on.
Clay has enough talent to be a quality receiving tight end, it's just a matter of consistency. He's had it so far, if it keeps up we've probably got our starter.
Everyone is loving him today....wait till he drops one next week....seriously, his game is improving, but I still don't think he's "replaced" what Keller could have been for us...
It sure would be nice to have 2 or 3 dependable guys there. I'd have never guessed that possible after Keller went down.
I admit I was one of those and have no prob saying I was wrong. Dude looked like a complete waste of a roster spot this preseason and now he is ball'n.
I think Clay could give you the same level of performance as Keller. FB/H-back stuff will likely be inherent to what Clay does regardless, but I think he can certainly hit that level
Id have been happy if Keller had the production Clay has had through 2 games. Hope he keeps it up, its been amazing.
Nice observation! I didn't even notice he was in the game. My personal take on Eggnog is he may never figure it out.
Both Tannehill and Wallace give Clay some **** for getting caught in their post game interviews. In case any local reporters are reading.....it was just good natured ribbing between teammates. Let's not turn this into the Starks Bird II.
I would like to see Charles Clay carry the ball more. He wasn't a primary ball-carrier in college, but he had over 5 yards a carry and 10 rushing touchdowns. His run wasn't particularly impressive, but he might be a solid goal line option, and being able to line up with a tight end as a ball-carrier causes mismatches ala Aaron Hernandez.
Glad he played well Sunday. Even so, he needs to be more consistent catching the ball. Lead the team in drops Sunday against Indy.
