Cleveland....huh? Richardson traded... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...rdson-traded-indianapolis-223115913--nfl.html
To be a high first round pick at RB in a league that routinely rotates guys and finds starters in all rounds....you need to be special. Richardson wasn't. That's now BOTH the Browns first round picks not starting for them. Tannehill vs Weeden battle TKO in 18 games.
Besides Joe Thomas, Cleveland's line is in shambles. So no matter how talented the running back is, he's in a position not to succeed from the get go. So now Cleveland has: 1 30 year old QB the front office has all but said they don't want, a RB stable of guys weren't on the Browns roster 3 weeks ago, and a WR choir that doesn't exactly strike fear into anybody's hearts. At least they have a decent defense. Everybody assumes they are going to make a run at a QB, which is fine, but with Mike Lombardi running the draft, I almost feel bad for Browns fans.
The funniest part is Cleveland traded up from 4 to 3 to get this kid... The entire backend of their draft. Honestly, this is a good move. Simply because it allows them to tank the season, get the #1 pick, draft Bridgewater, and have another pick to draft him some talent. It's just unfortunate thy gave up so much for him originally.
Tanking seasons, it's so in vogue..Im sure Irsay talked them into the trade telling them all the caculated moves you can do from a front office to sabotage a season.. It was so fu@&in obvious he was sucking for luck..can't blame'em, shrewd but the right thing to do when the name is Andrew luck.
Before this trade? 100%. It's no lock anymore. Jags get Blackmon back in two weeks. They still have MJD and Cecil Shorts. Chad Henne will have his usual 1-2 excellent games. Meanwhile, the Browns have Josh Gordon (for now lol). And Brian Hoyer is their new starting QB. Either way,you gotta feel bad for Teddy I think it's also funny that the Browns traded Trich to the team who tanked their season for Andrew Luck in an effort to tank their own season for Teddy Bridgewater. But seriously, if I'm a GM in the league, I'm calling Cleveland to see what kind of deal I can snake them on. I assume they'll keep Josh Gordon for their next QB. But I'm def. interested in Hayden... Our secondary would be nasty. And it makes Grimes expendable after his one year deal, If the rooks step up.
Blackmon is no threat at all in the NFL. They still play Pitt twice and Ravens one more time, all beatable. Jags play Titans, Texans and Colts, thats 6 Loses right there. Jags may not even win a game this season
not sure I agree Blackmon is useless. He's only in year 2. How crazy would I be to see two teams go 0-16 and a coin flip decides who gets Bridgewater. If the nfl were smart, they would do it in New York, at 7pm, 30 seconds before putting them on the clock. I'm officially rooting for this now.
wouldnt they go on SOS? Edit: Also wont happen. December 1st 2013 could be the Bridgewater game, Loser gets him
Jags play Seahawks Colts Rames Broncos Chargers 9ers Titans Cardinals Texans Browns Texans Bills Titans Colts I don't see a win here at all. Maybe the Browns game. Maybe 1-2 wins, Browns got Vikings Bengals Bills Lions Packers Chiegs Ravens Bengals Steelers Jags Pats Bears Jets Steelers I can see a win against Pitt and maybe Balt, and possible the Jets
Good points. But if Cleveland is tanking the year, don't underestimate bad game planning from here on out.
the organization may tank but the Players wont. Also Rob Chudzinski wont want to tank. I mean he goes 0-16 his job is on the line, no? I mean its hard to keep a coach after not winning a game. Yeah he dosnt have much to work with, but has any coach gone 0-16 or 1-15 and had a job the following year?
Ownership must have signed off on this deal... I'm just Glad I'm not a browns or jags fan. That's the important thing.
Jim Caldwell never got that memo. But yeah I agree. Jags should be bad for years to come. I actually thought Cleveland was on the rise. I think it lies on who they get in the draft next season.
You really think he will get another shot? Even if the new guy stinks....I have to figure Campbell can outplay Weeden.
this is just not true, they need a RG, but actually the one they have is pretty good, just out with that high ankle sprain
Considering Trent isn't very good, great job of the Browns getting a 1st back for him before another bad sub 4 YPC season can lower his stock any more.
My goodness. Barely into season two of their careers and both Blackmon and Richardson are emphatically declared busts? My crystal ball isn't that clear.
I think he deserves one. He's played a rookie season with a WR corps as bad as ours was last year. This year his best weapon has been suspended. What if Wallace was suspended these past two games, we lost both, and RT was out now with a sprained thumb? Should he get another shot under those circumstances?
Didn't Jimmy have like a gazillion draft picks due to the Walker trade though? I think this is a good deal for the Browns as I've haven't been that impressed with Richardson so far. I'm not calling him a bust but I don't see him going on to be a top RB either. Getting a 1st for him was a great deal.

I think the Browns made out. Richardson was taken out of the game on third downs all last week. The NFL AM team reported he has a very large family that travels everywhere with him and he supports all of them. The Browns thought he was more focused on his family than the team.

My only comment would be from Cleveland's side, why do it now? Why not wait a few weeks until the trade deadline is closer. If Indy was going to give a 1, they would have done it in a few weeks as well. Just seems to smell of desperation and over reaction to 2 losses. I like him in Indy. He will not have nearly as many 8 man fronts (if ANY) there. I am excited to see how he does.
Starting Hoyer over Campbell reeks of tanking. Kinda like how Kerry Collins was mysteriously relegated to IR after a pretty non-serious injury the year the Colts tanked for Luck.
I lot of Richardson hate on here. I still like him, especially like Oboy just said, no longer seeing constant 8 man fronts.
