We have Matt Moore and Pat Devlin...Tannehill is scheduled to play at this point.

    Cleveland doesn't count as a toss-up situation?

The Browns were favored by 2 points in that game. I not only took the Dolphins, I found an alternative line of Dolphins -3.5 and took that.

Not if you're 88% in preseason, as I was.

Depending on the start the Falcons get in this game, I'm not so sure I see a track meet, and if so, even though it seems counterintuitive, I might favor the Dolphins. The Falcons have started fast in both their games thus far: up 10-0 in New Orleans in the first quarter, and they scored 24 in the first half at home. I kind of feel like the Dolphins defense is better than either of the two defenses the Falcons have faced so far, and we can probably generate more pressure with fewer players than either the Saints or the Rams. Then, too, this will be the first game on grass that ATL has played. That should slow things down at least a bit for them and their speedy receivers. So with the factors of the Dolphins having their home opener, generating arguably more pressure than ATL has faced thus far, and playing on grass, I sort of think the Falcons will be slowed up to begin this particular game.

And while the Falcons have started quickly in both games, their offense has sort of fizzled in the second half. They had a couple of decent drives in the Saints games, one predicated on a 50-yard run from Stephen Jackson (who won't play in this game) where they scored, and the final drive of the game in which Matt Ryan drove the field but was intercepted with less than a minute. Sandwiched between those drives were a couple of three and outs and a six and out, resulting in punts. Being ahead by so much in the Rams game, I guess one could expect a let down in the second half of that game. It, too, though, was littered with short possessions aside from one TD drive, and then I guess you have to credit them with running the clock out with 2:04 in the game on the last possession.

Still, I think if the Dolphins can stymie their success in the first part of the game and then let the defense gain traction, the Dolphins can hold down the Falcons points kind of like the Saints did, or hopefully better. While their receivers have the advantage against our pass defenders -- and obviously I don't think we're going to totally shut down the Falcons vaunted passing attack (they've had over 300 yard both games and close to 400 last game) -- I think the Dolphins have a decided advantage at the line of scrimmage on both run and pass plays. I think our rush generates a turnover or two in this game.

On the other side of the ball, I just think Tannehill is going to see more time in the pocket in this game than in either of the two previous. I look for him to have a big day -- maybe his first 3 TD passing day this year.

Color me a homer, but I like this match-up, especially with how beat up the Falcons are coming into Miami. Something like 28-17 is what I'm envisioning right now.

    That...makes no sense.

I don't get credit for picking the Dolphins because it was clearly an easy-to-predict Dolphins victory, and the evidence that it was an easy-to-predict Dolphins victory was that even I picled the Dolphins, and I never pick the Dolphins unless it's an easy-to-predict victory.

Which is an interesting statement, because if the Dolphins had surprisingly lost against the Browns then I fully intended to pick them to beat Indy.

Which shows how much you actually know about what's going on in my head. Which is next to nothing.

Considering I picked them to go 6-10 in 2011 and they went 6-10, and considering I picked them to go 7-9 in 2012 and they went 7-9, I picked them to beat the Browns in Week 1 and they did so...yes, let's take the fact that I was wrong about one Dolphins victory provide resounding proof that my predictions are based purely on bias and not based on attempt to be as accurate as possible.

Who says I wasn't in an entirely friendly way telling you that your theory is absurd just as you in an entirely friendly way told me I'm incapable of making an unbiased prediction about a team I've predicted correctly for years?

It's already unwise for me to make references such things in message board posts. I'm going going to go as far as putting out spread picks.

The other thing is...I don't want to be responsible for anyone's wallet other than my own. I would honestly feel like the worst person in the world if I put out spread picks that people are supposedly going to follow, and then I lose them money.

Vegas is not stupid, they know we have 0 home field advantage, if their giving us a point and a half they feel pretty much like it's a real close matchup..

That's where I come out. I think it's real close. As I've said in this thread over and over...it's not a game I'll be inclined to take one way or another. Where Vegas comes out as basically a coin flip with maybe a little bit in favor of the Dolphins, I come out a coin flip with maybe a little in favor of the Falcons.

But what do I know. I'm only saying that because I have an agenda.

I think this game comes down to emotion, if we have an energetic home crowd, it will be enough to push our team to not let them come out flat like usual.

I've met some people. You've got nothing to worry about.

I mean, to begin with, are you forgetting Jet fans? (Really just kidding... I know there is probably one or two Jet fans that are alright.)

If the Dolphins were 1-1 or even 0-2, I would say the emotion would be in the Dolphins' favor...even if the crowd were not. That's because the Falcons would stand a great chance at showing up flat since they're about to play the New England Patriots the very next week.

But the Dolphins are 2-0 and the Falcons themselves are 1-1. There won't be any overlooking us. On the other hand, with the Dolphins 2-0 that's the best chance you're going to have at having a charged up home crowd cheering louder than we've heard in quite some time.

This is just a tough game to predict!

The Falcons have won 12 consecutive games against non-division opponents, longest streak in the NFL.

According to the beat writers the Dolphins released a Thursday injury report that designates what all the players WOULD have done today if they had not had the day off.

Ryan Tannehill still would have been Limited. Same with Will Davis, Jamar Taylor, Pat Devlin, Koa Misi and Jimmy Wilson. No change from yesterday on any of them.

Chris Clemons and Paul Soliai would have been "Did Not Practice" today. That's not a change from yesterday, either.

Dimitri Patterson would have been "Did Not Practice". That's a change from yesterday. His groin is not responding well (insert joke).

Mike Wallace has now appeared on the report but is listed as Full Participation. That's also a change.

Relatively speaking, going back a couple of seasons, with the circumstances and hope that we have, we find ourselves in a unique situation, this might be the best crowd we've had in two years, it just might make these players hyped..and to me if you can come out of the gates with a super high level of energy, in that heat, the wounded Falcon just might not wanna fly that high if you know what I'm saying.
