The Brotherhood

OK... as someone who knows a couple of Navy Seals personally (Yes I'm THAT Dbad of the day)(10 year Navy vet). Trust me when I say that they absolutely hate when people use their logo when they didnt earn it. Not to mention the various trademark and licensing violations that come with using their logo lol.

IMHO that graphic makes no damn sense for football players... I like the "brotherhood" attitude, just don't understand why he didnt have an original logo made.

 

I think its because nobody else can have that shirt..unless you earn it. There is a parallel there. They arent selling shirts with that logo....so...theres no violation of licensing or trademark. Id also venture...that theirs a pretty good chance some of these guys have Seals as friends...given alot of the work they do with the armed forces, and chances are those guys are fine with it. I think its also a nod in a way....to the amount of hard work and dedication it takes to be a Navy Seal...and as a Seal...your only as good as your team is. Everyone depends on each other. Its symbolic....

Now...I cant speak for the Seals..and if they dont like it, well they damn well have earned the right to like or dislike anything they want. Thats just my opinion...

 

If the Navy Seals hate it, then, yeah, I think they probably should have used a different logo or made one themselves. Not only that, they should go ahead and change it and make new shirts. I certainly get the "earned" aspect from the Seals, and, also, THANKS for your service, Cantina Jack! I certainly don't think you're the D-Bag of the Day! We have other people for that here -- JUST KIDDING!

That said, I think the old adage probably applies here: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." And I bet that's the standpoint from which the players probably see it. Again, though, if the Navy Seals hate it, and that's their logo, then the players should be made aware and change the logo on their "Brotherhood" shirts.

All that aside, I, too, enjoy the attitude and mentality of the defensive guys.

 

On the other side, Wake is a huge T-shirt guy and collects them I've heard... It is very concievable that some team guys (SEALS) from that area gave him a box of shirts or something like that. You never know.

 

Finrunner.. I couldn't agree more. If there is any hint of dislike from the Seals... change it. It's their logo. The mentality is great.. I'm excited to hear this from our locker room.

I think this is just a defense thing. There is a front chest emblem that says, "Dolphins Defense".

 

Shows a group of hard working SOB's giving appreciation to conducting their mind set on the field to Navy seals also which shouldn't be a bad thing at all if thought of in that respect.

Nice shirts perfect attitude (No disrespect to any Navy seal).

 

And hey....Navy Seals are humans to....

I bet , though not sure, that they are pretty pumped to see someone like Wake and the Dolphins D using it.....

I mentioned this a few days ago, that's the logo that's also in the front where it also says Dolphin Defense..

 

Looks like it's just an internal thing. Doubt they had any intentions of selling them. You see it all the time in locker rooms.

Much more organic -- and less contrived -- than when Sparano was feeding the wolf.

 

Remember when Jack Del Rio wanted his guys to "keep chopping wood"? Only to have punter Chris Hanson chop his foot with the ax and go on IR?

 

I'm a sucker for this stuff, if it bonds them closer and makes them play harder and with a purpose ,( which I believe) then we all should be for it, I'm sure they understand the logo's deep meaning.

 

I have to agree. Football is a game and in no way does it compare to what those in the military do every day when they put their lives on the line to protect our nation. I can certainly understand how anyone who ever served in the Navy Seals would be offended by any football team adopting their Logo. Sometimes people who merely play a game take themselves entirely too seriously.

 

Sometimes people take a t-shirt entirely too seriously. It isn't hurting anyone but maybe a few egos.

 

It goes to show you that players get into this kind of motivation, they all think they are warriors, in a battle for their life and respect, it's a highly motivating factor, and reason why the venue and the energy Inside is so important.

 

What I think some people may not completely understand.....and maybe its because they didn't play allot of team sports in their lives...is that raw emotion is such a large part of what can drive a player on the field. I've heard the ..no comparison to battle...time and time again, and honestly, lets give these guys credit, I think they know that.

But..if youve ever stepped foot on a field, with a state division championship on the line...felt what it was like leading up to that game, where you looked at your teammates in a different light then you normally would, it FEELS, emotionally like you are a gladiator getting ready to go to battle. You close your eyes and envision making the right plays over and over...you listen to music that reverberates within you..and you feed your inner warrior.

Its an undeniable connection.

 

the roar of the crowd..and quite frankly, if that crowd/ energy is not there to provide, you could easily see that opposite happening..an emotional letdown.

 

Lets put the women and children to bed and go looking for phukin dinner.

You're gosh darn right VT but it doesn't compare to what Mr. Jack is touching on and thank you for your service sir.

I know a couple of Leatherknecks that don't take kindly to things of this nature. i think they're insane but they have all of the right.

The gladiator aspect is understood, ofcourse. The gridiron is a battlefield and brotherhoods win wars and there are things football players can do on the field that some of the bravest, most skilled soldiers only wish they could do. But you can understand how such metaphors can be taken offensively especially by those who have lost brothers to bombs and bullets.

The honor of their codes can only be earned a certain way. Football is certainly not one of them. We civilians will never know what it takes.

I love the sentiment of a Finrunner buts its not for us to decide.

 

Gotta ask. Is that their "Official" logo? I did an image search and that one showed up once compared to many, many of the more official one? Also, thanks for your service...24 years USAF here (retired 2010)
