How John Denney covered that fumble we'll never know. That play, as well as the final drive by Tannehill, won us that game. Beautiful stuff.
Flawless victory? Not so much. But a great win! Everyone came up big when they needed and Tannehill is looking awfully tough in the 2nd half of games so far!
"Flawless Victory" was a reference to Mortal Kombat - and for Don Jones, he definitely finished him. And Denney's fight under that pile was incredible.
Somebody PLEASE upload the clip with sound. I wanna HEAR it again. And god knows what John Denney did at the bottom of that pile, but he did the Lord's work!
How bout the fact that Denney beat everyone down the field to put himself into position...I highlighted his efforts in preseason When I was rewatching our games, this is not out of the ordinary for him, he's constantly making plays relatively speaking.
What I see is us down 20-13, no momentum, and possibly another score for Atlanta, and then something magical happen! Jones made a fantastic play for us and just like that the game changed! This whole tempo of the forum would be so different right now, with so many threads about all our flaws, but right now we are enjoy this win. That play could define our season. Still early in the year but that play was bigger then people may think. 20-13 game with the way Atlanta controlled the clock, getting the ball back with 1:47 left in the 3rd, would have been a whole different ball game!
Agreed, Tin. Flawless, more like eking out a win or snatching a win from the jaws of defeat....however, I'll take it. I said in one of the prediction threads the other day, a one point victory is just as sweet as a 100 point victory...
Well, strike one up for the coaching staff. When final cuts were being made Barry Jackson tweeted that they were keeping Don Jones because they saw a lot of special teams upside with him. So far in 3 games Jones has made a number of impressive plays on ST.
This is why Denney gets PAID baby! Best LS in the league. and nice hit by the rook... That play alone is worth the 7th rounder we spent on him. Nice pick Irish.
Don Jones has been doing work as a gunner this season. He's been really good thus far. We just seem to find these guys and coach them up. Remember Marlon Moore? Obviously an offensive player so less physical, but another excellent gunner. Credit Jones for buying in and embracing this role. When you can do something like this, you create a niche, which means you tend to always have a place in the league.
My first reaction was. . . Who the Hell is Don Jones?* I'm a pretty big Dolphins fan but even I had never heard of him before.* I'm sure Denney had to commit unspeakable acts at the bottom of that pile to retrieve that ball.*
Jones was our 7th round pick this year. Hes a CB with 4.4 speed but very raw as a CB. At the bottom of those piles its whoever tugs the hardest to keep control of the ball. Great job by Denney.
Ireland had had some good picks. I don't think we'll see any planes flying around the stadium this year.
Dear Old Men: The Flawless Victory thing is a reference to a new technology called a VIDEO GAME. This game in particular is called MORTAL KOMBAT. It is probably the most popular franchise of fighting game ever. You may have heard of it after your morning does of ensure. Thank You. PS: Found the Clip! Listen to the crack. http://www.nfl.com/videos/miami-dolphins/0ap2000000248708/Don-Jones-powerful-tackle-forces-fumble SWEET JESUS.
I thought the same thing during the game, how the hell did the Long Snapper beat nearly everyone else to the kick returner?? One hell of an effort by Mr. Denney and worthy of a game ball! Damn that win has me pumped!
