"Pain and Gain" with Marky Mark and the Rock. Fairly amusing for awhile, but got dark in one hell of a hurry. I had NO idea it was actually based on a real story.

Rise Of the Foot Soldier - The story of an English Hooligan who rose through the ranks and became a bad *** English gangster. If you like British gang movies this is one of the better ones

Saw "World War Z" and the "Evil Dead" remake last night. Both were really good. "Evil Dead" is one of the best strictly horror movies I've seen.

JOURNEY TO THE WEST CONQUERING DEMONS. Awesome simply awesome. Directed by the same guy who did Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. A man seeking Buddha's enlightenment fights demons along his journey. Martial Arts and hysterical comedy. Great mix

Saw Gravity last night, it was really damn good especially when you consider it has the usually awful Sandra Bullock in it.

I want to see this, I've only read one review and it was pretty generous, so you kind of confirmed it for me. Will definately see it now.

I saw the Place Beyond the Pines last night. If the movie ended around the 57min it mark it may have been close to what I was expecting, but since it lasted 2 hrs and 20 mins, I must say the movie was not what I expected. I didn't care for it, but I didn't outright dislike it. Don't think I'll be trying to watch it again any time soon.

I thought the movie was great, got a little slow toward the middle but then picks up a little toward the end. But I thought it was executed brilliantly, it felt organic. I enjoyed that movie and will definately see it again.

Definitely a good movie. Only gripes I had were how they spent zero time explaining why Bradley Cooper's son was such a twat. For how long it was they could of taken the 5 mins to figure that one out. Def dragged in the middle too for sure.

This morning I saw a movie that most of you probably haven't even heard of: Age of Heroes. It's a WWII movie about Ian Fleming's (James Bond creator) real life AU30 commando unit. Only a British release back in 2011, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I d/l it from DTV's on demand feature. Just scrolling down the list and thought it looked interesting. One of the actors is Sean Bean, who you may recognize from Game of Thrones' Eddard Stark.

The movie is worth watching if you like that genre of film. I would probably rate it about a 7.5 out of 10 though as the ending (without giving anything away) could have been better. One of those movies where you think the end was too quick, the production crew must have run out of money, etc etc. The best part of the movie, for me, was the acting of William Houston, who plays Mac. Never seen him in anything before, but I thought his character was great. Over acting and a slight Sean Connery imitation perhaps, but still great. Worth the watch.

The Numbers Station. John Cusack in a pretty good espionage/ CIA/ Black Ops movie. Gotta hand it to Cusack. He has a knack for finding really interesting scripts to play in

Red Dog. A movie based on a real life legendary Australian dog. Might be the best dog movie I ever saw. You're laughing through half the movie and ready to cry the other half. This isnt a movie geared for children either. Definitely worth the watch [IMG]

Enders Game. it's been 23 years since I read the book, so I didn't remember many of the details, but still enjoyed the movie. I didn't remember the plot twist at the end until about 20 minutes before it happened.

I found one on Netflix the other day. It was called a "Man from Earth". Unfortunately, I think it's gone now, but if you find it through some other venue, I think it's worth a watch. The premise is that a man with perfect recuperative powers survives 14,000 years. He's survived by moving on or faking his death about every 10 years before people notice he doesn't age. He's moving on from his job as a history professor but decides to come clean about his history to his colleagues which include professors from various scientific disciplines (biologist, anthropologist, psychologist, etc). This results in interesting discussions about whether they believe him and whether such a phenomena could theoretically be possible.

Captain Phillips...surprisingly quite good. I didn't know what to expect. I heard the hype about Tom Hanks and I was wasn't sure if I was going to like the plot but I enjoyed it. It had a nice flowing pace from beginning to end. Hanks was great. The pirate leader, imo, is a very good actor. I recommend the movie...4/5

    The Hobbit 2.

I liked it. Better than the first one, but still suffers from being way too long. They could of easily cut 30 min out of the film and it would of been sharper, crisper, and better. By the end, you're just hoping it hurries up and finishes because you have to piss from drinking a big gulp. Which is a shame, because it is good. Smaug was pretty bad ***, cumberbatch was a great choice to do his voice. The ending is very abrupt. Not sure if I liked it. It seemed... incomplete. Felt like a cliffhanger from a TV show season finale. I think this speaks to the criticism about the Hobbit being a trilogy.

worth a watch if you like Jackson's take on LOTR universe.
