will we let Wake play, even if he isn't at 100%? I say let him sit out with our bye coming up so he can get more recovery time.

    We're 3-1. It's not a must-win.

I want to win, and it will definitely help our playoff push. But it's not a must-win. Not in the sense, we must win or we definitely miss out on the playoffs.

If wake can go, he should play. Getting to flacco almost guarantees INTs. This is the kind of game Wake can win by himself

Essentially the judgement call is how effective you think Cameron Wake will be. If Wake is hurt to the point where he won't be a substantial upgrade to Derrick Shelby, there's really no point for any risk of re-injury.

I don't see it as a must win. I think we're the better team so I think we're more likely to win than not to win, but if we were 3-2 after 5 games, I don't see it as the end of the world. In fact, I would guess that if you polled everybody here before the season and asked if they'd take 3-2 and if we were likely to make the playoffs if that were where we stood that the vast majority would have been very happy with that and would have seen our playoff chances as pretty good.

It's not a must-win. This is a rough part of our schedule. We go into the bye 3-2, with 2 wins over the AFC and I am happy. Although 4-1 would be gorgeous as **** !

I think it's "potentially" a must win from the perspective of playoff race for the wild card at the end of the year.

    A likely scenario IMO:
    1) New England, Denver and Indianapolis are 3/4 division winners, with AFC North being a coin toss at the moment.
    2) Houston, Kansas City, Miami and Baltimore could be contending for 2 wildcard spots ( I think San Diego and Cleveland fade away by seasons' end)

we only get to play one of those teams head-to-head, Baltimore. beating them gives you the head-to-head cushion that we may need. especially since Kansas City has a much easier schedule this season, so you can almost fill them in for the #5 spot.

[EDIT] you can substitute Cincy for Baltimore in this scenario since I think one of those 2 teams wins the division. We get to play Cincy too obviously, so IMO outside of our division games, Cincy and Baltimore are two games we need to win.

I agree. This game is far more important than the one we just played. KC does not seem to be slowing down and you didn't even mention Tennessee who I think will still win a few games with Fitzpatrick

True, but if Fitzy is in there for a long time, I think they stay competitive, but fall short at 8 or 9 wins.

Every game is a must win imo. But that doesn't mean you sacrifice the health of a player in trying to win.

Thank god Jeff Tool isn't our QB lol or we would lose to the Ravens. Instead we have Brandon Weeden....Crap I mean Ryan Tannehill (same QB) behind center. How long until Pat Devlin becomese our Tony Romo?
This isn't a must win in my opinion for the team.....
THIS IS A MUST WIN FOR RYAN TANNEHILL. He needs to make a statement in this game and play well. Another fumble and this guy becomes a punchline...I'm serious. This has to stop. I'm going to back him until failure but I honestly feel like Pat Devlin can get the job done if Tannehill can't.
No more bad games from him...One more stinker like the New Orleans game and the smell of sour milk is going to start filling the air. All the talk during the offseason, all the articles about how improved he was, and how he had such command of this offense and team, the connection with him and Wallace and how special it was going to be...It's crap or get off the pot for Tannehill in my opinion. NO excuses...Yeah the O-line is bad but Tannehill needs to do more than just stand there like a statue. He was a WR in college and set all these records...OK so he should have some sort of escape ability right? We haven't seen that. I want to see a gutsy performance from him and I want him to show the moxy that I see from the great QB's of this league. We can't settle for a mediocre QB any longer than we already have. He either is or he isn't. 3-1 on the season and I give quite a bit of credit to Tannehill as the reason why but I want to see 350 yards passing and 3 TD's with no fumbles. Yeah INTS happen and it's fine if he tosses one in the other teams direction just as long as it's not on a key drive or in the guts of the game.
He has 20 starts under his belt...No more excuses.

I agree the fumbles are bad, but he has shows PLENTY of moxy and had atleast two gutsy performances this season. He has out-played two QB's that are considered to be just a little under elite. He has one, arguably two game winning drives this year. And check how long it took a guy like Brees to have a 3 TD game.

I would argue that this is indeed a must-win game if we want to have any chance of winning the division and possibly even making the platyoffs period. The Ravens are an AFC opponent and they might be fighting for a wildcard spot later in the season. We can't let games like this slip away, particularly at home.
Plus, this team has a long and nasty history of going on losing streaks for 2 or 3 games and if they are really taking the next step, they should end that streakiness.

Wow, can't even begin to state how bad of a post that was. So, after week 3 when the whole fan base was excited as hell about Ryan Tannehill outperforming both Luck and Ryan, he has one really bad game, you're jumping off the bandwagon. pathetic

Actually I think Tannehill deserves credit for 3 game winning drives in all reality. He put the Browns and Colts away. Dude, I state an opinion and a couple of you go Bat crap crazy on me for it. All i'm saying is that Tannehill has the ability to be a special QB in the NFL. He has shown me more than enough to know and believe in him at this point. BUT JESUS MAN! When he has a bad game...It's an epically bad game...I mean like vomit inducing bad. I realize that this happens and guys like Phillip Rivers, Eli Manning, and Joe Flacco who are more established than Tannehill still have these games every now and then. However you can't sit there and get upset with me because I get a little shook up after watching a performance as atrocious as the one he put up Monday night. He was awful Monday and there is no sugar coating that. Jonathan Martin and John Jerry certainly didn't help his cause but Tannehill has to be held accountable. I couldn't even imagine playing QB in the NFL...It's got to be the hardest job in all of sports. I really hope he has a good game against Baltimore on Sunday because in a way we need him to have a good game more than we need a win.
You say he's got moxy? Then we should see a nice bounce back game from him on Sunday....Or do you disagree with that too?

The future of Cam Wake is more important than one game this Sunday. If it's a knee that can't be worsened by playing, then maybe I play him. but if the doctors say no (likely), then I probably don't, rest him for two more weeks... we need him at 100% down the stretch.

Agree 100 %. It certainly is a "must win" if we want to continue to progress and get the respect around the league as true contenders. If we lose this game and go 3-2 after a 3-0 start then 3-0 was a fluke as far as I`m concerned. People are saying "at the beginning of the season who wouldnt take a 3-2 record at the break"... Sounds good ,unless if you start 3-0 and end up 3-2, then it dont sound as promising. I`m not saying we`re done if we lose Sunday but a loss diminishes the credibility we were trying to establish.

Starting 0-2 and ending up 3-2 at the break is a positive . Starting 3-0 and ending up 3-2 is a negative. No other way to look at it.

    1. It was not the fact that you stated and opinion, it was the fact that it came off more as a rant. Also, it seemed to dismiss entirely the nature of the opponent and the obvious intermittent ineptitude of the offensive line.

    2. I have not seen a single quarterback come into the league, even St. Daniel, who have not had a game against an opponent in which they looked, shall we say, somewhat befuddled and confused, if not inept. Tannehill has shown far more in his tenure here than any quarterback to play since St. Daniel, and has done so with less experience than almost any of the same number of quarterbacks. I would propose that if problem #1 were fixed, that your entire post would be irrelevant.

    3. Very rarely does a team or its fanbase make decisions on the quality of a first round quarterback at the beginning of year two, notably with the proviso listed in item 1 above.

    4. The overwhelming recently surfaced utter obsession with immediate gratitude leads to more stupid decisions than not. (Witness a failed left tackle from the Wannstedt regime becoming a pro bowl guard, and a cut right guard from the Sparano regime become a starting guard [presently injured, I believe] for both N.E. and Indianapolis, just for a couple of examples of premature ejection! - rather obscure examples, I admit... but where are our primary problems on the offensive side of the ball at this point?!)

If we lose to the Bills at home coming rested out of the bye with Jeff Tuel starting for just his 2nd start then I'm forgetting any playoff hopes. But, not too worried about that game.

But I think its a must win because you dont want to lose 2 straight going into the bye week. That's no fun to sit with for 2 weeks. Especially at home, against a possible playoff contender. But, a loss isn't so damaging. It'll just suck a lot. Being able to be 4-1 for two weeks with an inexperienced QB coming to town after would feel so much better.

If the thinking is that the Dolphins are a playoff team this season, this game against the Ravens is a must win, Even though 3-2 would be better then most of us thought the Dolphins would be after five games, they will likely lose at least five of their remaining 11 games after this week. If they beat the Ravens this week and go 6-5 over their final 11 games, this would give them 10 wins for the season. Ten wins should at least be enough wins to give them a valid chance to be a wildcard team in the AFC.

I just don't think nine wins will be enough to get them into the playoffs this season. So if the goal is the playoffs, I think this is a must win game for the Dolphins. If your goal is merely for the Dolphins to win more games than they lose this year and you don't care if they make the playoffs or not. In that case, this probably is not a must win game against the Ravens.

It's a must win because it's an AFC playoff opponent and these losses are magnified later in the year when it comes to playoff picture and tie breakers. So yeah, very important game and definitely a must win. Once you're at the 5 loss zone you're in tie breaker territory, a loss this Sunday only gives us 3 more **** ups till we have to start relying on other teams to win/lose.

And I would definitely play Wake this Sunday and if EJ Manuel is out against the Bills, don't play Wake against Buffalo.
