I know that bashing a player isn't right so I'M trying not to do this anymore . it seems like we only want to look at the team in two ways and neither does us any good.

we were fortunate because it is becoming clearer we have issues . this team showed me that we have some talent but we don't have a oline , our secondary is a mystery to me so wont go into that unit.

our play calling is horrific that's because our O.C. isn't the right man for the job. our Head coach is ok but he doesn't seem to get it in certain areas .
to the coach's credit our dline id pretty good however if the linebackers and db's don't make plays that can be negated in a hurry.

its too early to say how we will finish the season but I just don't see us as a improved team .

inexperience at rb , tight end and QB doesn't bode well for us if our play calling isn't getting it done . Plus if our oline has been leading the league in allowing sacks we have no chance at all.

truth is we are not a good team and we haven't improved at all on the oline ,wr corp , te, and the secondary .

we have had oline problems ever since Saban was here . at some point my friends we have to get this issue fixed.

lets look at one factor in all this, Ireland has had a long time to fix this and he hasn't the talent behine our starters have not improved much .

if we had no problems on defense I would say that we might be a 9 or 10 win team but we just are not a playoff team .

bashing our players s wrong but it also doesn't help when people will pretend that we are good when we are not.

So there is three things we must have if we want to win.

    #1 a new GM s paramount

    #2 a new offensive coordinator .

#3 new position coaches and better players at the key position is a must.

only one of these is true. WR corps is absolutely better. Your nuts if you think otherwise. TE, clay has been making bigger plays for us then Fasano ever did. Upgrade. Secondary? I'd give it a push. I don't think we're better but I wouldn't say worse either.

The team is far from perfect, but if Sturgis makes that kick (i thought it was blocked, maybe not though) we may be talking about Thill's nice 10 point comeback. Bengals won to step up to 3-2. Seahawks lost to the Colts, who we beat. Just trying to add some perspective to the loss is all.

We had drops, THill's poor pocket awareness (I saw a few where he could have just stepped up in the pocket, and some poor O-line play - what was it 6 more sacks? The coaching/GM needs to do something about that, whether it's rollouts, more running game, new personnel, something.

I might agree with a new GM. I'm inclined to give Ireland one last chance (this season) as he's now had the opportunity through our cap room to bring in better talent on both sides of the ball & by that I mean better WR's & LB's. Grimes is a serious upgrade on where we were at CB. Thrown in Sturgis 10 for 11 so far & we have improved. The glaring problem is the O line which Auqafin you're right to point out has been neglected for to long. Thinking of Long's (Jake that is if you're not following me) Tannehill is getting ripped week in week out from his blind side, perhaps we need to seriously think about a trade there?

One of the ways you fix a car engine that doesn't run is to rule out entire systems as the cause of the problem, and once you find the system that contains the fault, replace suspect parts until you find the faulty one.

We have replaced a lot of parts without a fix, and I think it's getting down to replacing Ireland and seeing if the engine starts.

    Sure I'll be honest here.
Lamar Miller does nothing special at all.
This offense misses Reggie Bush tremendously.

As far as the secondary goes, Grimes is probably the best CB the team has had in a number of years. That is the one upgrade for this unit. As far as the rest of the secondary goes, none of them are playing worth a damn. Carroll has been his usual self. He will play decently for a while and then he just seems to disappear. He just doesn't make very many plays in the secondary.

Clemons is what he is. A very ordinary safety who never makes any plays to turn a game around. He appears to always be one step slow in making any play of consequence. This safety position is a definite area of need going into the draft in 2014.

Jones got lucky yesterday on the TD interception because he just happened to be in the right place when the arm of Flacco was hit by Jordan when he dropped back to pass. Other than this one play, Jones has been a major disappointment this season. It is now obvious that the Dolphins and Ireland were too quick in signing him to a new contract. He certainly hasn't been playing like one of the top safeties in the NFL.

The rookies in the secondary have shown nothing yet and the rest of the backups in the secondary have been mediocre or worse. This unit overall is no better than the secondaries of the past few years. In fact with the regressed play of Jones this season, I don't even think the 2013 secondary is as good as the 2012 secondary and the 2012 secondary was very average.

I wonder if Ross is now happy that he put out the word that he had signed Ireland to a new one year contract during the off season after the Dolphins started 3-0? He must have thought that all the goodwill the team had generated off their start would make fans forget how bad Ireland has really been over the past six years.

Now that fans have had a chance to see how many holes still remain on this team after six years of Ireland, perhaps Ross might finally realize that he needs to fire Ireland and hire a GM who actually knows how to draft and sign players with quality talent.

I was at the game yesterday and there were less fans in the stadium than there was for the Falcons game. It also appeared that about a third of the fans in the stadium were Ravens fans and not Dolphin fans. I suspect that the fans are once again going to make the decision to stay home during the games, starting with the game against the Bills in two weeks. The only games I think which will have decent crowds the rest of this year are the games against the Jets and Patriots. Of course a lot of the fans going to those games will be fans of the Jets and Patriots.

The excitement of having all those draft picks in the 2013 draft and spending all the free agent money has worn off the fans, Now it is all about winning and providing these fans with an exciting and improved product on the field. Tannehill is better than last year and the receiving corp is better than last year. Other than those two positives, there just isn't a lot to get excited about this team.

Right now the draft class hasn't shown much. Jordan has made two plays in five games and he is hardly ever on the field. Wasting the third pick in the draft on a player who plays so infrequently just doesn't make much sense for a team with so many holes to fill.

The only other rookie to show any promise has been Sturgis and he even screwed up yesterday when he kicked the ball out of bounds on a kick off. I don't blame him for missing the 57 yard kick at the end of the game. Perhaps if the OL could actually pass block, the kick would not have been from that far out to begin with.

As far as the free agents signings by Ireland. While Wallace might be an upgrade over Bess, he isn't near the WR that Marshall was when he was with the Dolphins. So basically Ireland was forced to overpay Wallace because of his moronic trade of Marshall after the 2011 season. Marshall is s definite #1 receiver, while Wallace isn't.

Gibson is a nice addition to the WR corp, but I still don't think he is an upgrade over Bess. In fact I could live with Gibson, Bess, and Hartline as this teams three top WR's and would instead wish they had spent all that money to upgrade the OL and secondary instead of overpaying Wallace.

I don't see Wheeler and Ellerbe as upgrades over Dansby and Burnett. The defense this year is not as good as the 2012 defense and I think the play of the LB's and the secondary are the biggest reason this defense has regressed.

I agree with you that hiring a new GM is the most important upgrade this team needs going forward.

I also don't know if Philbin is the right man for the HC job. He hasn't seemed to improve in his decision making and he has hired a number of coaches which just don't seem to be able to get the players under them to perform at a high level on a consistent basis. This includes the O/C, D/C, offensive line coach, secondary coach, and the running back coach. Hopefully the next GM will have the option to pick his own HC for the 2014 season. If he decides to stick with Philbin, I will be okay with that as long as Philbin is told he must replace the coaches on his staff who are failing at their jobs.

Why doesn't anyone talk about this more? Lamar Miller is immediately a better RB if he becomes essentially what Daniel Thomas is now, apart of a 2 back rotation with Bush as getting the bulk of the carries, not to mention Bush gives you 40-50 catches out of the backfield.

Who says? They get paid a buttload of money to play this game. If they can't manage to at least be mediocre at it, they should be working at another job.

RT looked like a deer caught in the head-lights at his post game interview. I am very concerned that he is being damaged, perhaps, beyond repair. may be about time to consider replacing him with Moore if there is not an offensive line fix in the bye week.

And who decides and makes the decisions that dictate how much they are paid and show potential "talent"? I know its not the actual player and guess what? Im sure the ppl who make these decisions are getting well paid by doing nothing on the field of play. We need to stop taking it out on the players and look higher up.

If you have an engine that isn't running you replace the faulty parts. But it doesn't do any good to replace the faulty parts with more faulty parts and hope it works. I think it was a big gamble on the offensive line working but it was a gamble that has failed thus far. The comment that Martin made that he was more comfortable at left tackle was to be expected. A left Tackle is the highest paid position on the offensive line and of course Martin wanted to be the left tackle, but it doesn't mean he is any good at it. Maybe he will still develop into a good or serviceable left tackle but at this point there is just as much a chance he wont. Unfortunately Ireland didn't have a backup plan for a bad offensive line.
