Can you imagine the numbers he would have put up in today's game with the rules the way they are now?

I believe Sonny Jurgenson was somewhat famous for being able to do that too.

Kelly and his Offense had great weapons. Phins Defense couldn't match up well. Marino matched up well to any Defense.

    .

Yeah, I hated the Bills so much more than the Jets in the early 90s. I lived in Western NY at the time and went to so many of those games and I think they lost just about every one I went too. Used to wear a Brian Cox Jersey up in there too. I was about 12 years old and had all sorts of **** thrown at me.

80's NFL might be my favorite decade of football. Before all the rule changes, before mass free agency, before everything became so money motivated, and when the play was more straight forward. To me there was more personality to the game back then.

True story. I was in an elevator with Gary Clark one day years and years ago. And, after the initial realization that I was in the company of a former NFL player, I ask him to meet a friend of mine who's a huge Skins fan. We get off on the floor where my friend is, I introduce them, they have their exchange, he gets Gary's autograph etc. After a few minutes of this my friend says to Gary that I'm a Dolphins fan. Gary turns to me, looks me dead in the eye all serious like and says "no lie, 40 yards, behind his back, on the money. Dan Marino. Never seen anything like it."

Now I understand what he was talking about. That was really cool. Thanks for sharing CK!

Lol....dang. It takes a real fan to go to the Buffalo away games knowing full well Miami wasn't going to win. I used to dread them going up there in the cold. Just knew it's be a loss back in the late eighties - early nineties. I commend you sir.

we did win twice up there during that time frame... 10/4/92, we won 37 to 10. That was the game of the infamous Louis Oliver pick 6, 103 yards. 9/26/93, we won 22 to 13. Of course the table was turned in each of those years as they beat us in our house... the 1/17/93 loss was especially painful.... the AFC Championship game... That should have been our year to return to the super bowl. IMO that was our best chance to win one... Crazy to think that the Oilers should have knocked them out in the wildcard round that year (that was the Frank Reich comeback game).

that loss, in our home in the play off, was so freaking painful, I wanted to cry...and it was a true blood bath, as usual no running game: they had Thurman Thomas and Kenneth Davis, we had Bobby Humprhey and Aaron Craver (I think he ended playing Fullback and winning the super bowl with the broncos, but I am not sure)
damn, that buffalo team was really really full of talent, offense and defense, I hated them... (now, not so much, in my eyes they paid their debt losing 4 Super Bowls in a row, lol)

about Dan in today NFL, I agree it would awesome... the guy was tough to bring down with the old rules , imagine today, when there are several spots you can touch and you can always throw the ball away just stepping out of the pocket (a rule that I despise).... he was so big and a matador in the pocket

almost tragic that he doesn't have a ring

Yep, you got that right. We were so spoiled for 17 years.I always felt we had a chance no matter the score with 13 behind center.
