I think he's mostly being considered by the NFL as a short yardage option. We are really bad in short yardage, IMO. We should consider it. But in the end whatever boost you MAY get in short yardage probably isn't worth the distraction.

If he helps us win 1 extra game this season as a ball carrier, I'd do it. Plus the media focus on him takes pressure off others.

Might get a tad annoying as a player when the entire media query is about Tebow.

Since Tebow has been adamant that he will only sign with a team that leaves him at the QB position, signing him makes absolutely no sense at all. He certainly isn't as good a QB as Tannehill or Moore and I can't see them cutting Devlin to bring Tebow in as their third string QB.

I have absolutely zero interest in the Dolphins signing Tebow. He doesn't upgrade any position of need on the team and he just isn't a very good NFL player. If the Dolphins brass are thinking that signing Tebow would increase attendance at the games, they are sadly mistaken. In fact as a season ticket holder, I plan to attend the remaining home games this season. If they turn this team into a complete joke by signing Tebow, my tickets will remain unused from that day forward. I would rather sit at home and watch the game on TV than attend a game with Tebow in a Dolphins uniform.

He was a great college player and I take nothing away from him for that. He just isn't an NFL QB, or any other position for that matter. He needs to get on with his life and I hope he is a success in whatever career he picks in the future. I just don't want the hoopla associated with him if he were to become a Miami Dolphin. He just isn't worth all the media attention he gets every time he signs with a new team.

I guess the only individuals who would be happy with this signing would be those individuals who think ESPN doesn't talk about the Dolphins enough.

No doubt, but as long he is helping us win games, I tell the team to deal with it and to focus on improving their respective positions and level of play.

I agree, but I am glad he is not on the Dolphins. He has a very strong personality, and I am not sure that would be good for Tannehill's development as the unopposed 'leader' of the team, though I do think Tannehill could learn a thing or two about leadership from Tebow.....

I don't understand the fascination with Tebow. Did anyone actually watch him play QB? He was atrocious. He made a handful of plays at the right times. Denver's D is the only reason he even got those opportunities in the first place.

He can't catch, so none of this TE nonsense either.

Lastly, if we need a short yardage guy, I'd rather they pick up good ol' Lousaka. Proven short yardage runner and a hell of a blocker....for the most part.

Well... say what you want about Tebow and the circus that comes with him, but he did help get the Broncos to the AFC Championship game and had some amazing moments in crunch time that are honestly difficult to explain. For teams like the Jags, Vikings, Bears, Rams etc to not even think about signing him to play quarterback at this stage of the season is purely moronic.

you just called that team in Russia morons... but seriously, the teams that I mentioned shouldn't consider it? As a pure business decision, it makes too much sense not to. It puts fans in the seats... especially Jacksonville.

I think it does more harm than good. The distraction would not be good in the long run. It would hinder various players' development. Think about what Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts are able to do right now. Blackmon had produced 384 yards in only 3 games back from injury. Shorts has 491 yards in 6 games.

They may not win very many games with Henne but those players are actually developing and they have the opportunity to develop because Henne is capable of getting them the football. That will pay dividends down the road.

If they had Tim Tebow, that's not happening. Coaches would go on not quite knowing what they have in Shorts and Blackmon, and the players themselves won't get the quality game reps needed to learn and grow.

He's injured now but the same would be true of Luke Joeckel if he were still playing. Blocking for a Tim Tebow is different from blocking for a more normal quarterback.

Bottom line, I don't think teams win games because of Tim Tebow. I think they win games in spite of Tim Tebow.

The debate within a team's decision making room is: what is more important, short term vs long term? Each team is going to answer that in their own way. At least consider what a Tim Tebow can bring you as a football team. I'll tell you this, if the Chargers lost Rivers to a season ending injury, they would definitely think about Tebow being reunited with his former Denver OC in San Diego.

Sooo...what I think Im picking up , from your really vague, and indirect insinuations, is that...you dont like Tannehill as our QB, and think we need to find another. Am I right? or am I right? I mean...I'm pretty good at reading between the lines on things...and...admittedly, you do a really good job of using your poker face. Cause..I really had to sit back and think on this for a second....

Speaking of Mike McCoy, am I the only one wondering whether or not we made the right choice 2 years ago going with Philbin over McCoy? I was fine with either guy but man, McCoy has done a terrific job not only ressurecting Rivers' career but is doing yeomans work with that team as a whole, which I believe has less talent than us. They should be 5-2 right now had they not blown that big lead to Houston

There was a rumor that Jeff Ireland liked Mike McCoy over Joe Philbin but that Steve Ross liked Philbin more and won the debate. Don't know how valid it is. McCoy believed that Ireland had insinuated to him that he was getting the job. That could be confirmation of the rumor. On the other hand Ireland strikes me as the kind of smarmy f-ck that would say that knowing full well the decision could still go either way, not really caring what it will do to the man or his family when he finds out the job he expected to be his goes to someone else.

Without having read through the whole thread, this sounds like an over-reaction. Do we know when the consideration took place? Do we know what position they wanted him for? There were reports that Tebow was contacted by teams to play positions other than QB (he declined). Maybe we were just another one of the many teams that saw him as a great athlete and football player and considered finding a spot for him. At worse, I think Tebow would be a better version of of what Jim Jensen was for us. The big downside for me is the circus that follows him.

No. This was a FACT confirmed to me by a source INSIDE the Miami Dolphins Front Office. I even gave the source, buddy. I am not gonna put the ****ing guy's name on here.

Just like when I posted on here that they would offer a 60 Million 5 year contract to Mike Wallace as soon as free agency started. I wonder who gave me that one?

or how bout when I posted that they would trade up for Dion Jordan or Trade Down for Werner on Draft day?

Yeah..I reported that..not that hack Salguero..or any of those other worthless Beat writers.

    Then again...Maybe I'm Jeff Ireland.

First of all, I would be upset if the front office didn't "consider" every single available player, even if it's only for a nanosecond.

Second, as difficult as things have become for us, it's hard to dispute that the Jacksonville Jaguars are far, far worse than we are. Tebow, who is the darling of the religious-centered fan base nationwide for reasons other than his skills as an NFL quarterback (home-schooled; fits the profile; public professions of religious faith -- he's one of their boys) played his college ball, very successfully, in the Jacksonville area. If any team would benefit financially from signing Tebow, it's Jacksonville, which literally has nothing to lose. It would gain not only locals, but religious fans from all over the nation, in droves. Yet they won't touch him.

    He's that bad.

I doubt we "considered" him for long.
