Would it take away all the interceptions and fumble Tannehill made?

I'm upset at the terrible PI calls and non calls from that game. Those led to points against us and took a TD away from us.

Probably not, since he was referencing the Ravens game.

Give credit to Rex Ryan and the Jet organization on that one. They apparently spotted that on tape and alerted the league office to that possibility.

I would have felt better with Sturgis kicking a 42 yarder. Still doesn't mean we would have won since it would have gone to OT.

Of course it was. We never get those calls. We got screwed alot in that game, heck that whole Ravens TD drive in the second half that really got them going there was what, 50 yards in some pretty lame DPI calls?

    Whatever, its over now.

The article does make me smirk a bit though, it gives me the impression that we sent in the tape from this non-call, which lead to the NFL policing it further, and now it cost the Pats a win. That makes me feel a bit better at least.

Good point there Brandon, maybe there was a silver lining. Now at least we are not my hometown Vikes, their line looks awful and they have no QB.

I will never ever agree with making that call on a final field goal situation, even if it benefits Miami. I can't believe they called it on the Patriots. The officials have not called that penalty consistently all year long. Miami's case was not the only one by a long shot. It does kind of illustrate the fallacy that the officials always call the game in New England's favor though.

unbelievable that our complaint helped the Jets win a huge game for them. It's as if the league decided to say "THIS is what happens when you complain"...

Not if you watched that entire game....Jets should have won that game going away.

The rule change makes sense though. The rule has always been that you can't push the D-linemen from behind b/c it creates an increased risk that linemen will end up falling/rolling up on the legs of other linemen, like what happened to Satele in the Indy/Denver game. Before it was only called if the pushing player originally lined up behind the line (second level). But that's not what caused the safety issue. The safety issue was caused by the action of pushing the D-linemen. They just changed the rule to say that the action was illegal regardless of where the player was lined up before the play. And like any rule change, it takes time for the refs to get used to calling it.

That's smart coaching, imo and good scouting. It's like if you notice a heavy screen team having lineman leaking down field too far. You bring it up to the refs before the game. If you get it called just once that's a great job of preparation

It did, but I don't know how much. Listening to Pat Kirwin on Sirius yesterday, he said practically every team turns something in to the league almost every week, and that the FG push issue has been brought up before. Depending on when the Dolphins complained, it may have just been met with some lip service as apparently it also occurred in the Patriots-Saints game, which prompted Rex and the Jets to also point it out to the league.

I have better things to do than blame the officials for games lost. There are so many variables for why you are in that position to lose in the first place.

and yet, the jets won last week. You can even go as far as to say us not getting that call, and the jets getting the call, is why they are ahead of us right now.

I was just typing up the same response. Not being a first sport for me, I grew up on Rugby, I do find American Football interesting in that it is a very precise game but managed very imprecisely by humans. There are so many rules in the game but they are called arbitrarily by the refs which can affect the outcome of a game, an exact 10 yards to go, with a chain to measure but spotting the ball relies on where the referee thinks the ball was, and we have seen numerous times where the ball was spotted in obviously wrong spot, and those inches swing from a punt to a 1st Down. I think that to me (the human inconsistencies) is one of the reasons I love watching American Football but damn it tests my sanity when it goes against the Fins!

It is a new rule, so I guess the officials are still getting used to watching for it. It's not like a rule that has never been called before didn't once save the Pats' season a few years ago. What goes around comes around.

The Dolphins didn't lose the game because against the Ravens because of the officials. They lost the game because they were outplayed by the Ravens. Blaming the officials because a foul wasn't call on a play is ridiculous. The reality is that holding or many other penalties could be called on just about ever play in every game.

Wrong. The officials played a huge role in that game. Those two totally bogus PI penalties essentially gave the Ravens a free TD.

Maybe they could be. Maybe. But, they aren't.
