I have been bored at work all day browsing through these forums and I can't believe that no one else has posted anything about this HUGE game changing clock mismanagement misstep that Philbin made in the final minutes of the game. He used our 3rd and final timeout with 2 minutes and 25 seconds left in the 4th quarter. Instead of letting the clock run down to the 2 minute warning and using the final timeout after the Bill's 3rd down play, he called it before the 2 minute warning and effectively cost us 15 crucial seconds that could have given us a change to get into field goal range and win the game. This is a simple mistake that a competent, winning head coach would never make.
Silly. There is nothing wrong with that strategy. Actually your post doesn't make too much sense. You are basically left with the same amount of time on the clock regardless of which way you do it. Possibly less if you do it the way you are saying.
