What do you think the possibility is that Coyle has been holding off on giving Dion Jordan a large role, waiting until we really needed to unleash him?

There is no way Coyle doesnt see the pressure DJ creates while on the field, and the almost simple way he gets to the qb.....have we been holding out? We could easily be 4-2 or 5-1 and it has nothing to do with pass rush....

Everyone knows how to have success against Tom Brady....Pressure him while only rushing 4.....and keeping him off the field.

We had a lot of success against the patriots through the early/mid 90s (always splitting, or sweeping, playing tough) even with bad offenses because Jason Taylor and our Dline was able to generate pressure without blitzing and giving up coverage vulnerabilities.....

I don't know how often the nfl does things like this, every game matters, but I have a feeling we see a heavier dose of DJ this Sunday rushing Brady.....lets hope he steps it up!!!!

I think we need to quit hoping for these hidden wrinkles and surprises that are never going to come.

Sick you needed him already, and that if you were targeting one game then that to me is dereliction of duty.

This is kind of drawing at straws I think.

I agree. I think it's ludicrous to think that we have this great player that we are holding off got game 7 on the season. This is the NFL. We have been to the playoffs once in the past 12 years. We aren't holding back for game 7.

Is it THAT inconcievable Jordan has a bigger dose Sunday? I don't think it being Tom Brady, our divisional foe, and the Patriots will be coincidence if so..

At the beggining of the season I half jokingly speculated that we should keep Jordan under wraps and unleash him on Brady before BB and Brady had time to look at the film and figure out a way to neutralize him .

He is a similar type player as JT and as you know JT gave Brady a lot of nightmares .

So lets unleash the Kracken on brady

I almost never agree with the line of thinking that says that coaches "hold back" certain things for certain games.

I think every win is really important, and the coaches will do whatever is in the team's best interest to win the game at hand. If they didn't use Dion Jordan as much against these other teams, it was because ultimately they felt he wasn't going to help them win the game if he were used more or in different ways.

That opinion may change. They may decide he's now ready, or that against this particular upcoming team there are characteristics that make it more appropriate. But it won't have been some planned thing where they were holding something back until a certain game.

I would strongly consider firing a coach if he did that during the first three-quarters of the schedule. The last part of the year as you're gearing toward the playoffs is different. If you've already got playoff seeding zipped up, or maybe you don't necessarily have the seeding but you're pretty sure to get in, then yes you could hold a few things back until you get into the playoffs. That's why I say I "almost" never agree with the speculation.

I'd love to see Jordan get into the pocket a few times and have a big game on Sunday, but I don't think Coyle has been saving him for this game. I could be wrong but there are only so many moves an edge rusher can put on a tackle, and I'm sure the Patriot's tackles have seen them all plenty of times.

Wake, when healthy, has the most unique rushing style that I've ever seen: leaning his body over like 45 degrees and using speed and centripetal force to stay upright long enough to get one strong arm around the QB. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, Wake's style (which is to operate on the extreme edge of athletic ability and the laws of physics) doesn't seem to work if he's only 90%. I wonder when the guaranteed salary for Wake runs out?

Getting back to Jordan, there are capable players on the roster at his position with more experience and Jordan did miss a lot of training camp and the pre-season. Plus when you move up to number three to take the guy, and he has a shoulder injury, you need to be careful not to overwork that shoulder -- it's not like the wear and tear of the season is going to be good for his recovery.

No it's not. But if he gets a bigger dose it will because he's ready for a bigger dose in the coaches mind. Not because they were holding him back for this game. I would take what CK said a bit further. Id fire the coach ASAP if he told me that's what his plan was.

Perhaps more time for Dio due to Wake's status as hobbled.

Do think we have a host of Cb's and could see some odd fronts Sunday

Honestly, no way. Now, he could get more and more reps as the season goes on (lord, I hope so). but his limited rep count has more to do with him coming back from injury as it does him having a limited role in the D. And to add to that, I don't think he returns to 100% this season. Very difficult to play your way up to 100% during the season. Wow, my positivity today is endless...

No way, no how. Dion has been limited, rightly so, because of his injury, nothing more, nothing less. I do believe once Dion gets used to the speed of the NFL and gets more reps and is completely healthy, that we could very well have another Jason Taylor on our hands. But he's a long ways away from that.

The kid is freakishly physical and his size plus speed should ultimately give him the tools to be a JT, but a lot of what made JT, JT, was mentality and drive, things we don't yet know if Dion possesses.

Jordan's rookie season reminds me a lot of Wake's first year as a Phin. Every time Cam got on the field that season he was creating havoc and getting noticed but the coaches only used him in small doses. They only started using him more late in the season when Porter was dinged up (and even then Joey threw a hissy fit) If I had to guess, its the things that Jordan (and Wake before him) were not doing well in practice that the coaches are trying to hide rather than their abilities.

If they unleash him this game it will either be because:

-They deem him physically ready, where they didn't in previous games.
-Desperation, or they're done being stubborn and careful with their new toy.

Not because they've strategically held him back. That would like suggesting they held back the Wildcat in 2008. The Wildcat was born out of desperation. As others have already said, in a 16 game schedule, every game is crucial.

That being said, I do hope we see Jordan unleashed this game. He might be the only player on this team that can really tip the scales in Miami's favor if he can get in Brady's face the way Taylor used to.

If that's the case, Coyle should be fired for being an idiot and not playing a player better than those playing ahead of him because he's been hanging on to him to surprise NE with some new wrinkle to our D. If Jordan could have contributed 100% since week 1, and he hasnt been for no good reason other than we were waiting to play the Pats... then I'd fire the whole damn staff. That's just not something you do. Can we give him a bigger role, sure... but you damn well better have a good answer as to why his role wasn't that big previously. There's just no reason to hold back a player to wait for a special opponent. If he's 100% ready mentally and physically, he should be on the field, since week 1.

I don't think we are talking about hidden wrinkles or surprises. Dion Jordan has already shown what he's capable of. Its just a matter of him getting more snaps.

When we drafted Jordan all I could do was compare him to JT, and we all know what JT did to Brady.
