I'm done watching this ****. What is the point of trying to win when the refs control who wins? Not one, not two, but three absolutely horrible calls that helped the Pats win today. The bogus pass interference on Jimmy Wilson. The holding call on Patterson that helped keep a second half Patriots drive alive. And of course, the batting of the football by Vernon. It's so painfully obvious. So blatantly bad... I'm so sick of it. I no longer care about anything related to the NFL let alone my Dolphins. I give up. You win refs. Congratulations. It's not worth my fanaticism. Every ****ing game I've watched for a long long time. It's not worthy my health getting so upset every time a ref screws up. Not executing on a play is one thing. But to have the game literally decided by the refs is so wrong. I'm so done. I choose not to watch anymore. My wife will be happy. My kids probably even happier.
I know that PI was BS/bogus/ embarrassing to the Officials. Did it change the game? Who knows. Totally crap 2nd half saw to that imo.
Those calls totally changed the game. 13 points most likely would have come off the board without referee interference. That said, this team needs to do a better job of responding to adversity. It seems like they do great when everything is going according to script, but when things go wrong (and in this game and in the Baltimore game it was bad calls against the secondary) they don't respond well. It's sad to say that really bad calls against anybody playing New England are part of the game. Luckily, Brady really looks his age. He looked terrified on several plays that actually worked out for the Patriots. I think he'll retire soon because he doesn't want to get hit any more.
The biggest mistake of the day came from the head coach, who failed to throw his red flag on the Rasheed Matthews catch and instead punted the ball, when we had a first down inside the Patriots 40. Matthews made that catch. I'll admit the refs sucked today, but the O-line sucked worse.
The batting the ball call was just atrocious. So, wtf does it look like when someone is diving and trying to grab the ball, but can't get total control. That has to be an obvious, blatant foul, but that surely was not. Horrible call.
That call on Vernon may be the worst call I've ever seen. It's BLATANTLY obvious he's trying to grab the ball and it was a bit out of his reach and rolled forward. Such BS. 40 yard ****ing penalty.
Worst call I've seen in 26 years of watching and playing football. Completely changed the game. Those refs should be let go immediately following. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Crap second half surely... but my goodness... the defense had not given up until after the batting call. They were going to stop the Pats... it was going to be third and forever... they would have had to punt and we were only going to be down by three. And that's just the 3rd call... lets not even talk about how the Pats got back into the game with their first points... a field goal... nor the holding on Patterson that gave them a first down instead of being faced with a fourth down. Pats took the lead a few plays later. I can't recall three calls that were so bad so blatant to decide the game... one or two maybe... not three...
no he didn't... he never got two feet (or one foot and one hand) down before his left ankle came down out of bounds... watch it again.
How bout we lost because we are a young inexperienced team that hasn't figured out how to over come adversity and close out games.. The refs do what they do, we need to score points..
Right now I am right there with you Paul... Unbelievable calls... I will not be renewing Sunday Ticket or buying anymore NFL stuff. This makes the WWE look real...
There was a Tannehill knockdown that I thought garnered a penalty(Brady would have got it) and a defenseless receiver hit for Mathews that could have helped.
I'm sorry but Philbin needs to speak up about it. He should have a meltdown in his press conference. Ross should pay his fine. If they don't they are as bad as the refs for just taking it.
There are always plays that don't go a teams way ,in the end whoever makes more plays usually wins, today Miami made to few plays in the second half. We find ways to lose it seems instead of ways to win.
Those three calls, make it really difficult to trust anything the NFL does at this point. I know its easy for us to say that because we're Dolphins fans, and the calls went against us, but what makes it better, is the commentary by Nantz and Simms at least called out both the calls against Wilson, and Patterson as awful. Nantz thought the call on Vernon was awful as well, Simms however didnt. So, at least those who may watch this game will hear that to go along with seeing the calls. It's just awful to see those kinds of things happen in professional sports. The Vernon call to me is the worst though, I think its obvious by watching that play that Vernon is trying to get the ball and swipe it to himself, not hit it down the field, but just how his hand hits the ball, and the odd shape of a football and it goes further down the field. The officials in that case are in the spot of trying to interpret a players intentions... now its up to whatever the official feels like. I know other calls in football work that way too, but its usually more obvious, more cut and dry that the player either did, or didnt commit a foul. In this case, its open ended, its whatever the ref decides. It puts the game in his hands, rather than the players. That... that's just not right IMO.
HA! Good luck! NFL refs have such high job security they can monitor a nuclear reactor in Springfield.
Yup. Especially with their new CBA deal. It's funny how everyone forgot how bad the real refs were when the replacements were in.
On which call? There were probably three calls or no-calls that I really didn't agree with, that went against Miami. The one people seem to be complaining about the most seemed pretty clear-cut to me. Olivier Vernon gave an open-handed swat to the football in order to prevent the defensive player from recovering it. That's against the rules, and the officials actually have a strong record of calling it. It's not one of those that the officials let slide 90% of the time when it happens. When they see it, they call it. Olivier Vernon made an immeasurably stupid decision on the play and I would rather focus on the immeasurably stupid decision and finally getting Dion Jordan on the field more, rather than focus on a call I've seen the officials make plenty of times before.

When I first saw the swat, it looked like Vernon tried to push it away. Then in slow motion, it makes it look like he's trying to pull it to his body. True, the refs called a bad game but what about Thills int on first down. That's what made me give up. What about the D not stopping the run or the O not picking up blitzes in the second half? What about all the Wallace drops?
From what I saw in the replay, the defender was behind Vernon and outside his field of vision. Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk
http://www.nfl.com/videos/new-engla...38/Dolphins-penalized-for-batting-fumble-away Listen, emotions are high after the loss. I look at this video and it just seems clear as day to me. Others look at this video and they see a blown call. Agree to disagree.
I'm just going to assume you agree on the first two bad calls that I've outlined in my original post then. So the Vernon call, he's falling down, his momentum is taking him towards the ball, he is putting his right arm down to protect his fall, you see his left arm bent and his hand is actually being brought back towards his body. He just has Chris Clemons aversion to touching the football. He has zero hand eye coordination and that is why he plays defense. How many times have we seen on the old football follies where the ball bounces forever and neither team can get a hold of it. I don't recall any flags in those instances. I don't see this open hand swat forward that you are seeing. I see him misjudge the ball.
I would say that when I see a player do what Olivier Vernon did on this play, I see the officials call it about 90% of the time. Maybe higher.
Just a quick rule question for you guys: If a receiver catches the football there have to be two feet inbound and he has to have control of the football. Does the same apply for an interception? I am asking because on the first interception the defender clearly had two feet inbounds, but gained total control of the football when he stepped out of bounds.
He should have walked the team off after the batting call. Maybe get some press involved and get refs fired. Now no one will know of the thievery committed on the 27th of October 2013.
