Could not wait to get out of the house this morning and make sure the sky was still in place. Some of the posters in here that I have always admired for having such great resolve and rhetoric coming off of losses like this have surprised me with there cliff jumping yesterday. Honestly it is not bad, we are still heading in the right direction and we do have a lot of the pieces of the puzzle.

I recall the 9ers during there first 3 years of rebuilding with Singletary as the coach. Growing pains. The team was heading in the right direction. Harbaugh did not build that team. The talent was there defensively and on the O line. They were not losing because of Singletary they were growing and they were super young!

We are in that same stage less an oline full of first round talent. There is fault for that falling squarely on Irelands shoulders. I don't care if Joe Montana is standing in the pocket. Without an offensive line to protect him Jerry Rice puts up pedestrian numbers. We need a solid O line and it will cure a lot of woes. We saw in the first half when Tanny had time he picked them apart, and miller looked more like Ray Rice.

With that said there is a little fault to pass around to a couple players that I noticed. Tanny needs to get rid of the damn ball or run. 3 seconds! The best qb's can release under 3 seconds I think we can ask him to set his alarm clock at 3. It is a learning experience. Either get better at reading the defense or get your *** moving. If our O line sucks that bad get the hell out of the pocket and make throws on the run. We want him to be a pocket passer but we want to win too and keep him healthy. We threw one screen pass for over 20 yards. They blitzed 70% of the second half. We could have eaten them up......

Mike Wallace needs a lot of work. At this point we could have grabbed Heyward Bey or Ginn and got the same out of it for much less cap. When a QB throws a back shoulder you stop, break off and catch it. You don't keep running or floating down the field and let it hit the ground. When the qb throws the ball behind you and it hits your hands, catch the effin ball. Its behind you because he is trying to save your life. All of these receivers need to get on Ryan's page. He is throwing it where they need to be and they are not. This is less of a knock on Tanny as a lot of the passes he throws are with amazing accuracy. All new receivers, need time to gel. But Wallace I do not know, this guy could be a bad beat but my verdict is still out. We all need to have a little patience.

Its been a long time waiting and patience is thin, but on paper, this is the best team we have had in a while. It will come together. Head coach is not a problem, there may be other coaching and office moves but for the most part Ireland and Philbin look to be working well together but the entire body of work is not ready to be judged after 23 games.

Ref's pissed me off 2 clearly bad calls and one call was bad but at game speed it could have went either way. We still should have won that game. The refs only gave them 17 points. We should have been able to cover that. Wake is clearly not 100% and our Oline still needs a lot of help.

I dunno man. I tend to always find the positives, but this team is making it tough.

Can we really say that we're headed in the right direction after losing 4 games on the bounce?

As to o-line, we've currently got some pretty high drafted guys there and I thought yesterday looked better for the most part.

Wallace needs to have his role severely reduced. Unfortunately, losing Gibson likely makes that impossible.

Objectively, I think the season is a write off now. It won't stop me from holding out hope until we're actually eliminated though.

15 years of mediocrity and you can't see how losing 4 straight, going to be 5th straight this Thursday, isn't bad?

Your wrong. The sky has fallen; at least it has fallen on this season.

Philbin has been given a really raw deal here, but what can anyone really expect. Stephen Ross and Jeff Ireland are destroying the present and the future with their idiocy and abominable contracts.

The only thing that is going to miraculously restore the sky is the sale of the Dolphins to a quality owner and a subsequent hiring of a new GM and scouting staff.

As you stated, Singletary wasn't able to get the most out of his talent and it took another, (and better) head coach to come in and get the players on the 49ers to play to their talent level. Perhaps the next HC can get this same type of play out of the Dolphins players that Harbaugh has gotten from the 49ers.

Unlike you, I think Ireland is not the right GM for this team and Philbin needs to show a heck of a lot more as a HC than he has up to this time. A 10-13 record with what is said to be a team with a lot of talent just isn't getting the job done, as far as I am concerned. This teams needs to go at least 6-3 over the remaining nine games or else Philbin deserves to be on the hot seat.

As far as the sky is concerned. It was a beautiful cloudless sky here in Miami today and great golfing weather. It's not the sky that is the problem here in Miami. It is the play of the very mediocre Miami Dolphins that is the problem.

Saints and Patriots are good teams and we played on the road. Ravens and bills close games we need to find a way to win those. Again a young team still needs its identity. I think we can still compete in the AFC east. We do not have to go to NE in December. We can beat jets and the bills. One game at a time. We had a real tough first half schedule and we have beaten one of the best teams in the AFC. There is still hope......

Agreed, I do believe Philbin gets this team turned around and I believe he needs 3 years without the pressure of being fired. If Ireland does not fix that O line then he needs to go extension or not. Ross has shown he is not afraid of extending someone then firing them. He has just shown that money is no object to him and he truly os a fan of this team. I think we will see a different team Thursday night.

What are you talking about with this stuff about finding a way to win close games??

All three of our wins were close games. If we hadn't already found a way to win close games we would be 0-7.

We have to go to Buffalo late in the season, that my friend history tells us is not going to be easy and no gimme. Right now the Jets beat the Pats, and we really didn't compete when we needed to in the 3rd & 4th qtrs yesterday.

This team is not as loaded with talent as some of the blind homers on this board have convinced themselves. If they were they would over come bad coaching and win one of these games everyonce in a while.

This past off-season all the blind homers said, "this is where Jeffy will show y'all, he knows what he is doing and he has million under the cap to play with". So far its mostly been an unmitigated disaster. His FA signings have been less than stellar, and most of his draft picks can't even get on the field.

If this season is going to turn out the way it looks, I almost would have rather lost the Atlanta & Indy games because Jeff Ireland would be that much closer to being out the door.

The sky fell against Buffalo. Now we're just waiting in the wreckage for someone to pick up the pieces next year.

Make all the stupid comments you want, you know it's true. The season is over. They proved against Buffalo that they are not talented enough and not well coached enough to be a playoff team. Now we go through the motions of waiting till they're mathematically eliminated, but that's as inevitable at this point as the sun setting in the west.
I'm getting pretty damn sick of the same lousy results every season. Maybe you think it's just fine and dandy to be an also-ran or a joke every season, but I don't. I remember when this used to be a perennial playoff team. I wish my son could EVER see that happen again...

Well, there's really no other way to say it. We're a very mediocre football team, at best. Have been for the better part of about fifteen years. I've lost count of the QB's who have tried and failed since Danny retired. Head coaches have been a little easier to keep track of in that same time frame. But, it's no coincidence that we've struggled mightily without a franchise QB and/or competent HC. Tannehill may or may not be the answer (starting to have my own doubts). But, my doubts in Philbin are greater, and growing. Especially after the last couple of losses.

:thumbup1:..Beautiful response. How years and years of false hope and mediocrity dont bring some fans to realization is beyond me. We are currently the "same `ol dolphins".

Yawn. Same story. Congrats on winning the division against the Matt Cassel led Patriots.

I, for one, think the Dolphins are better than last year. Enjoy 8-8 b1tches!

But 1972 was AWESOME! Can't wait to pop that champagne when the Chiefs lose!

That's what your team is about. Loser mentality = loser results.

Well, to me, the season is not "done" by any means, next 3 games will tell us the fate of the 2013 Dolphins, Cinci, SD and Tampa, if we sweep we go to 7-4.

To me McKinnie looked great, Martin was fine, our two biggest holes on offense are plugged.

Tannehill tho, must must must take better care of the football, atm he is a turnover machine, cannot win like that in the NFL

The reason the season isn't done is that there are nine more games to play. Think about it. If you don't want to see YOUR Miami Dolphins play and grow into a better team, then the season's over. For you.

Suckhood coes not have to be permanent.

congrats, you just accidentally agreed with him in your attempt to argue, and also pre-determined the outcome of thursday's game....... embarrassing. And worse.... there's others agreeing with with you, though they probably dont know what your saying either....... You guys are a mess right now. You sound like the troll who just came here to share his wasted life with us.

you missed the point........ the idea was for this to be the one thread you don't complain in. Can't help it ?
Nobody is happy with the team right now...... constantly complaining over and over does nobody any good. Reality is we are 3-4 and through the hardest part of our schedule. I had said if we can even make it out of the first 5 games at 2-3, we are looking solid. So obviously, for me...... you sound utterly ridiculous to have given up on your team. See you on the bandwagon next year, until the first loss ofcourse.

not so bad... plethora of young talent & over-all excellent coaching on board.
everything begins in the trenches, the bookends looked good in first half, maybe there is a fix in the making
Tannehill needs to quiet down & not let the game get in his head, things will improve as the year evolves

Wallace & Ryan need to go play catch somewhere until they are on the same page. no more excuses!

Thigpen has a start somewhere on this offense. he's a play-maker, just a matter of finding him a position on offense.

they have to play to win for both halves & all quarters of the game. simple as that... consistency.

Did you honestly think we were SuperBowl bound this year? with a young team every game played is a lesson learned. the normal learning curve in the NFL for a young team is three years.

yes, we got reffed-up but that happens in NE... enjoy the rest of the season!
