I figured now as good of a time as ever to start a new thread with an extended preview of the upcoming season released this weekend during Comic-Con.

Looks like they added another former The Wire actor in Larry Gilliard Jr who will be acting as Bob Stookey.

Share your thoughts in what you took away from the trailer.

Looking forward to the new season, and hopefully it won't be as big of a lull as Season 3 was, which never really hit a climax point (Cue lmeister making a joke about somebody's girlfriend) and arguably the most exciting episode was episode 1.

After re-watching the trailer, I think Sasha (black girl with Tyrese, his sister I believe) gets killed.

I thought that too, the reaction shots from Tyrese can only point to her being turned. I know they want to create interest from the trailers, but I wish they wouldn't telegraph a death of a character like that.

Apart from that, I like the look of the trailer, seems to be a lot more happening this season. Hopefully they've not shown all the best bits...

Best thing about it. No sign of a Lori ghost.

Ehh...I can't put my finger on it, but to me he still looked bugged out. I think we haven't seen the last of Lori yet.

It's not must see but it's pretty good. And there's not much on that's better during it's timeslot...

Season 1 was fantastic. Season 2 was good (too slow at times). First half of season 3 was amazing. 2nd half was slow with only 2-3 good episodes.

First of all, they should of called the episode It's Raining Men

I don't get what happened with Harry Potter though. Did they show him get scratched or something? Why did he turn?

The illness is some kind of influenza or virus, which also killed the pig.

The kid probably also infected the water when he coughed into it before he died. Also surprised that they don't seem more prepared for illnesses in terms of watching the people. They have virtually no modern medicine and know that if you die of natural causes you turn, so why nobody followed up with the kid after he told Carol he was sick is beyond me.

Even if she thought he was just faking to get out of the knife lesson, she should have followed up

i watched part of the talking dead. Laughing my *** of at the Eddie... headie.. jokes. You know the head in the bag, back at fungus face tent home  She apparently said during Rick and hers walk back to her camp "it's just ahead"... I'm going to be giggling all day at that.

With Harry Potter deadly shower, I suspect paranoia will take over the group... that the zombie "disease" has somehow manifested itself. Then I suspect farmer grandpa will let Rick know it is something related to the meat/pigs. The pig that died doesn't turn into a zombie after it dies, just a reminder that animals aren't affected by the zombie thing. If they were to ever find a "cure" the animals are obviously there to show them how.

so my wife is watching this this morning... and I noticed on a second watch that the Harry Potter kid was cooking meat at the beginning of the episode (so he had direct contact with the uncooked meat)... also, recalled that Daryl licked his fingers before shaking the kid's hand (as the kid wanted to thank his hero).

Wasn't Carol cooking the same meat though? She asked the kid to take over for her so she could make moon eyes at Daryl.

yeah... it was the deer meat that Daryl brought back the day before, which everyone was apparently eating. Bad case of Ecoli from handling the raw meat seems most likely.

The more Rick and the tent lady walked, I kept thinking Rick can't be so naive. He should have killed her before they got to her tent.

Great episode. I must have missed it if they mentioned it in the show, but I'm curious what the time span is between the end of Season 3 and the beginning of Season 4.

Keep in mind Rick is trying to be kinder and gentler for Carl's sake.

BUT Carl has the right idea, no room for excessive softness in that scenario.

TBH, was not paying a bunch of attention to the show, just caught the Rick/Crazy NI woman bit with the knife etc.

Way I see it, that will be re-run many many times, and they replay the episode before the new one comes on at 10 pm

The reason I thought the kid died from a bite was how fast he died. He was running around in the beginning of the day, and dropped dead by the end of it? I know it's a show and all.

Do you guys like the way The Governor has been portrayed on the show? He's very different in the comics. He looks kinda like a pirate in the books and is a much darker character as he rapes, tortures and dismembers several people in Rick's camp.

I don't know much about the comics. I don't really like the way the governor was developed though. Or his lack of development. I can't say I really know what makes him tick. I have no idea why he is the way he is or why he does what he does beyond simplified explanations. They tried too hard to make him an every man villain (ex. he could be you, if the you experienced his circumstances). Too many broad stokes rather than pinpointing an agenda and building it to a conclusion. Think back to the episode with Rick and Gov. having their sit down meeting. Boring. Just boring. Then think back to Rick and Morgan meeting again. It was incredibly compelling. It brought the best out of both Rick and Morgan as characters.

Frankly, I think the survival horror aspect of the show being put on the backburner was also a mistake. It made the Governor be the end all be all of season 3, which the character couldn't handle. It seems the writers are going to fix that this season.

well..... you've got two people inside the camp that are acting out against the group. The one feeding rats to zombies on the fence line and the one who took out the sick people permanently. Are they one and the same? I have to think that the alcoholic (who went for the liquor in the first episode) is one of them. And that the governor may be involved. The thing I don't know about the show is how secure are the other areas in the prison? The other blocks? Last season we saw a breech in one of the walls. Was that every secured? It's the part of the show that bothers me.

Technically...and I do say this to play devil's advocate, but they could of turned and then got burned, no? I do think it wasn't a team decision, but they could of been burned after the turning.

Good thought, and again, to play devil's advocate, only reason I can think to disagree with this is that maybe they want to build this guy in to a bigger role with the group (like Tyrese) since he is a semi-known actor. So for now, I don't think it's him. For now.
As for the Governor...the rats were fed from the inside, so while it's plausible, I don't know. Too many unknown variables here. How many people are actually staying in prison? At the end of last season they were transported by buses, weren't they? This season they might of shown 25 people tops. Could be somebody who is still communicating with the Governor I guess.

I think the other areas got blocked off, but never "secured" or at least they didn't show that.

I know it's only episode 2, but I really hope it won't be like last season where we kept on waiting for **** to hit the fan, but it never really did. Based on future previews, they get separated? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Time will tell.

According to Nicontero (sp) he was on Talking Dead last night, something like they lost 12 people in the episode #2 and their total #'s are down to 30 inside the prison.

I just reached the half-way point of season three and agree with your assessments. I also was just telling someone that I didn't feel confident about the rest of the season. I didn't love where they seemed to be going with Rick and I wasn't crazy about the antagonist.

It's not that the antagonist was all that bad, but if you know that someone is going to try to kill you and there's no way around it, the obvious answer is to take him out.

IMO, two of the best episodes happened later in the year in season three. One featuring Merle, and one with Andrea.

I thought the scene with the car was incredibly stupid. Why ditch it? Throw it in neutral and push it off the pile. Yes, they were surrounded by walker but man. Would make more sense if the would of ran it off the road or something, otherwise they are leaving a perfectly fine car and bailing on foot. Another thing that irks me, which is silly for me to complain about really because they are doing for the sake of the show, but Dale wasting bolts on random walkers as they are running is silly  I mean I get it, actions shots and all. Radio signal definately kept it interesting, and looks like there is another herd heading their way. Interesting. What did you guys think about the...revelation at the end of the episode?

I think the writers are using it as a way to thin the herd, so the crew would get back on the road eventually. My guess is by end of the season they will be out of the prison.
