There does absolutely seem to be some animosity between the media and coaching staff, which is really weird. It wasn't this way with Saban until after he left, but that might be because he bullied them so effectively. There didn't seem to be this kind of resentment towards Parcells clamping down on inside info, either

Mighta been Beasley I'm not sure. Philbin said half a dozen times that he wasn't commenting on the Pouncey subpoena situation and they just kept asking it. Eventually someone called Philbin out as not doing his job as a HC bc he wouldn't answer the questions and Philbin had to shut his *** down. Apparently this is some sort of media retaliation.

I think most people here are blowing this out of proportion. Have you ever played on a sports team? You can be fun, but focused. You can be serious and have fun at the same time. It was during a team lunch, not during practice. I've seen plenty of tricks played in the break room at work.

It's ironic, people make fun for Philbin for not having emotion and being awkward and a robot, etc. yet our team plays one prank and now you all want the whole team to be a walking, breathing, football-eating machine. Should this stuff happen during a 4 game losing streak? Probably not, but if you are out there giving it your all during practice a little prank never hurt anybody.

The much, much bigger issue is Martin's reaction. There is a reason they call him the "big weirdo." In watching Philbin's speeches after games he has always seemed a bit different. He seems eager to win, but beats to a different drum than most. You never see him really interacting with other players, joking around, etc. I hope he gets the consoling he needs and gets better. He is actually a pretty decent RT (at least in pass pro).

It's to be expected. The media has been openly hostile for years. The team has given the media as little as possible for years. There is resentment on both sides. I'm a fan though so I side with the team. I care about winning, not how many clicks and twitter followers Omar or Armando get.

If I recall correctly, we didn't get to meet with him at all before the draft. He was sick during the combine IIRC although we might have attended his Stanford workout. Don't think we brought him in for a visit though.

Hopefully he get's whatever's bugging him sorted out for his sake.

In the meantime, here's praying that the benching lit a fire under Clabo's *** or something.

Well, Philbin did bring Mando into his office for a recent interview...which i thought was pretty decent of him in the midst of a 3 game (at the time) losing streak

I heard from a source that Ireland was inquiring about a wet square of Charmin toilet paper to sure up the O line. Wet Charmin is cheaper than Martin, and offer about the same amount if protection

Yikes. Best wishes for Martin. I hope he can get himself together.

As for the reports of the locker room being in shambles, I'm not sure I believe it. It's possible but the local media is not something I take without a major grain of salt.

Who said he has mental issues? Sounds to me that he can't take the heat, which he deserves.

The sad thing is I think most of us in a deep dark part of our minds thought this entire $hti house would backfire in our faces and go down in flames. Admit it....It's ok...Be honest..I am....
I had my doubts about all this but was holding out hope and I pretty much lived in denial with it all summer long. Following our 3-0 start all those doubts damn near ceased to exist but for some reason...Losing with this team is like a drug..It finds its way into the mind of this team and poisons it. We have way too much talent to be losing the way we are...In fact we've HAD way too much talent to be losing the way we have.

Locker room dysfunction is a common symptom when you can't win, especially when you start the season so well. That's what happens when everyone boils with frustration. Players and coaches get moody. We're going to learn a lot tomorrow night. Either the team will come together or things will continue to sink.

Herald hinting that there may be deeper emotional issues with Martin and that he is spending time with his family. Probably the best thing. One source is saying the team is in "shambles", another source is saying that they are "sticking through this".

Strange situation, not what I expected to see coming on here tonight.

Hope Martin gets whatever help he needs, and gets better.

Hope all the other lockerroom news is just... BS. Not what this team needs right now. Time for Philbin to step up, and Tannehill to step up as leaders. If there really is such an issue with the team, and Sherman, then Philbin maybe needs to relieve Sherman of his duties, or at least have a stern talk with him and right the ship

This locker room stuff is ALWAYS over blown. It would be a problem if we were winning, but we're not. When you lose 4 games in a row after starting 3-0 of course there's going to be issues in the locker room. As Aqua says, if they start winning again there's no issue anymore.

Meh. It happens. One of the leaders will bring him a pizza and a liter of black label, sit down and tell him to man up and that he's a pro football player, play some FIFA or something and he'll be back at practice. It happens when you basically live in close proximity with a lot of dudes for a long period of time.

Unfortunately; and while the media are simply doing their jobs; this thing has grown legs and is EVERYWHERE on the 'net. It will undoubtedly be mentioned on national tv tomorrow night and on the sports networks.

It's a shame that this incident may overplay any decent thing this team has done this year, and will somehow make it's way into the minds of fans upon the first sack Clabo gives up. This type of attention is exactly what the team does not need amid this losing streak. I even read where Philbin "berated" a coach in front of players this week, insinuating a deeper issue stemming from the HC himself. I could give a damn if Philbin chewed someone out in front of God and all His Glory (sometimes a person needs an *** chewing), but to pass judgement in light of this Martin situation may be a tad uncouth.

And now, Martin has to deal with this embarrassment. It could be very difficult for him to recover from this kind of attention.

It can't be easy to be a bad or disappointing NFL player, both physically and mentally, especially for a high draft choice who doesn't pan out. The pressure builds and a straw breaks the camel's back.

The entire team deserves an *** chewing. I'm real surprised this is being perceived in a negative way.
A head coach held accountable for this team has every right to hold every single member of this team to a higher standard.
People are screaming about not enough fire, now it's too much.

I think some people are being a little over sensitive about this as a means of getting back at the people that were most likely to view this situation with the cynical mirth that it should probably inspire.

Yes, the professional football player has feelings. And he might be going through some trouble right now. Lucky for him he's collected approximately $2.5 million from the Miami Dolphins over the last year and a half and has every resource at his disposal to get the help he needs.

In the mean time someone makes a joke about it on a message board. Oh my god, what an awful person.

I think things are clearly reaching a boiling point between the Dolphins and the local media.

I'm not sure I'm convinced things have really reached a boiling point with the players in the locker room.

Jeff Darlington has no dog in this race and he went out of his way to say that everything he's heard from the players is that the locker room are still together, they're very focused on fighting their way through this, etc.

Exactly, it's gotta suck. Do the local fans give him grief at our home games like they do on this board? Dude probably can't get a break anywhere and I'm disappointed his own teammates were effin with him.
