Here's the link I copied it from on update. Just passed it on.

Edit: not sure if the update is from Jeff Darlington but it's in the same story.

"Investigate" is a pretty nebulous term. The NFLPA calling Martin could be described as an investigation.

Either way this looks like a mental health issue, and I'm not sure the team should discuss any further.

Did the NFLPA investigate Saban when he sent Manny Wright to his grave? Or when he walked over Jeno James like some sort of front door mat? Cause I thought that was 10 times worse.

Gotta love PFT's willingness to call out BS when they smell it.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...or-nfi-list-may-never-return-to-the-dolphins/

Such BS. Yeah they're not "investigating" they're just "information gathering".

espn just aired a segment that was pretty inflammatory to the situation. used the terms bullying, hazing and had specific incidences sited with richie incongnito. saying martin is scared and fears retribution. this is not going away.

This is pretty much a direct response to the attempt by Incognito and others to deny the reports of bullying.

I'd like to see the exact language use but if they're reporting that Jonathan Martin "is scared and fears retribution" then they DAMN WELL better have actually talked to Martin himself.

Given the revelation about Philbin's effort to release a joint statement that was rebuffed it sounds like Schefter or Mortensen did talk to Martin or (more likely, imo) his parents.

Be careful what Shefter is reporting about Incognito!
He was the one who was heavily reporting the incident of Incognito hitting a bouncer and the police investigating.

Turned out that Incognito was just trying to break up a fight and he was the one who got hit by a bouncer and the police was not investigating at all and Richie was just a witness in that case.
Shefter never apologized or got the story straight and was under heavy critizism by the local media.

It looks like Incognito stepped on Shefters toe sometime in the past...

CBS is now reporting that Martin is waiting to see if the team takes any measures to prevent further bullying, and that Incognito is the "ring leader" and is "menacing", that Pouncey is also involved in the bullying.

CBS says that Incognito has been reprimanded before for action toward team employees and that Martin is "genuinely scared" of what Incognito might do to him.

Don't know what's going on but I think this is the last year for both Incognito and Martin.

Martin likely won't have an NFL team. Incognito to get away from this bull****. I am honestly on Incognito's side and I don't even like him, I think he's pretty average. But come on, I honestly doubt there was high school bullying going on in the locker room..

Were basically screwed being that ESPN have shown their cards and their agenda and they won't stop pushing this story till they get the head on a stick that they want, I saw this first hand as a Rutgers fan during the abusive basketball coach story, they didn't stop till Rutgers axed AD Tim Pernetti.

Bottom line ESPN gets what ESPN wants and they want Incognito's head. This is not going away.

Probably waS A lot of hazing going on. Also heard the report that Cogs may have pressured Martin to pay some money into a fund for dolphins players to go to Vegas. But really, what stands out to me is that Martin is mentally very weak. I think it shows up in his inability to stand up for himself and likely factors into his inability to improve his game at this level. Throw on top of it all that the constant criticism he's faced since being selected in 2nd round probably makes it much worse if he's mentally soft. that's not to say he isn't smart. his parents are Harvard alums and he went to Stanford. But I'm surrounded by Harvard alums and I can see a lot of cases where their kids are really soft, wouldn't surprise me if Martin falls into that category. i.e., his athletic ability carried him through his college career, but he's falling short in the NFL.

The following quote from Martin to Incognito via text message is not consistent at all with the fresh round of unattributed accusations being put out by Schefter and CBS.

"I'm good man. It's insane bro, but just know I don't blame you guys at all. It's just the culture around football, and the locker room got to me a little."

I'm not trying to take a side. I think Incognito is a d-ck personally and even though he plays OK football (nothing special, IMO) I have no problem with him being shoved off the team. I also don't really like Jonathan Martin. I'm just saying that at least the quote above is actually ATTRIBUTED, and quoted verbatim.

This other sh-t that is coming out sounds unattributed which means dark, secret sources whose motivations remain unclear passing off pieces of information which may be paraphrased and then are subject to further paraphrasing by reporters. Some of it like the $15,000 Martin had to pay for a trip to Vegas that he didn't go on seems intentionally without context. I don't know what his connection is with the situation but a guy on Twitter tweeted at me and said that the offensive linemen have a pool for an annual Vegas trip and they fine EACH OTHER for various stupid sh-t all the time to where they have to contribute to the pool. Did ESPN or CBS report that? No. They reported essentially as extortion.

I think this story lies somewhere in the middle... as usual. Incognito probably does affect the players around him. It could be good at times, it might be bad at times. Bottom line though is that Martin likely overreacted by leaving the team. He could have taken it up internally. There are plenty of ways to do that. Ask for a meeting with Philbin and Denney (the NFLPA rep for the team). He could have had his agent on the phone or there in person. Bring up all the things that he doesn't like. I find it difficult that Philbin would have ignored it at that point.

Clear to me that this is turning into a PR nightmare with every sports outlet reporting similar things.

Maybe Incognito should worry more about trying to make the O-Line not be the worst in the NFL than doing all this annoying $hit. They have a shot at the playoffs and the O-Line doing better would obviously help their cause. Tannehill taking 3-6 sacks per game is not going to help. Unless every team decides to play as crappy as Cincy did, which won't happen.

Adam Beasley chiming in... not sure why he waited until now to report this:

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley 2m
I reported last week that there were other issues, with resentments being harbored between other players. It's about this.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley 2m
I can now report this: This is a HUGE issue inside the Dolphins' locker room, and not just limited to this situation.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley 1m
One young defensive player, whose privacy I'm protecting, has literally gone broke because he's been pressured to pay for older players.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley 1m
They've gotten sucked into the Miami lifestyle, and the veterans are using the younger players as an ATM, I'm told.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley 13s
Recently, a younger player was handed the tab for a $30,000 team dinner. The rookie minimum this year is around $400.000.
