Every organization has issues though. Winning is all that really matters.

Look at the Pats. A star player on their team murdered a dude. At least we don't have that kind of problem.

This whole issue is incredibly overblown IMO.

I think this will probably signal the end for both Ireland and Philbin simply for the sake of accountability. Billionaires don't like being embarrassed, and Ross will probably feel inclined to clean house with the staff as a means of removing the stain.

For better or worse, it is likely that this spectacle, as opposed to his choices as GM, is what gets Ireland fired.

I can't overstate how irritating this would be. Jordan Zimmerman is basically the love child of Donald Trump and a spray-tanned personal trainer/self help guru.

I think it's more Ireland than Philbin. Ireland already has the Dez Bryant black mark on his resume.

Philbin, at the very least, addressed the issue back in April. He's the head coach, not a watch dog. If there was further support needed it should have come from another part of the organization, unless Philbin didn't make others aware.

Ross is smart enough to know that these are things that happen everywhere that just crossed a line. It's being handled. If Philbin guides this team to a winning record and playoff spot, Ross won't care that this happened. It's embarrassing sure, but it's not the end of the world.

If they get canned for this I'd have a hard time being a Dolphins fan going forward. It'd be absolutely ridiculous.

I don't understand why Philbin has not been fired yet.
Dude was on notice since April there were problems, failed to keep an eye on it and under control. Then he had the balls to issue a public statement calling Martin crazy, well, who's crazy now?
This kind of cover up and lack of leadership and control should not be tolerated more than a second. Where is Ireland, where is Ross?
And now we are going to get Philbin press conference? I do not care for what he has to say. Dude is a bum.

I'm actually a fan of them getting canned because that opens the door for Cowher, Chucky or someone else. No GM ties opens the door wide open for our FO and coaching staff. Not that I hate Philbin but I just think money can buy better.

Maybe Philbin has been side-swiped like the rest of the team. This things starting to sound like someone who planned this to get out of playing a sport he didn't really want to play.

I think it will be that Ireland gets fired for certain and then Philbin's fate will depend on the next GM. But, I suspect Philbin will be gone.

The one thing I hope is that they go WCC to keep some continuity - they need a GM who is experienced in a quality team setting and has integrity (not a former Parcells groupie who found himself running things).

I do think ultimately Philbin will be fired and probably for this incident. Only way he stays is they go 10-6 and perform well in the playoffs (which has almost zero chance). I think he'd have kept his job even if we wound up 7-9. But, 7-9 or worse with this incident and he'll probably be gone.

I don't see how Ireland survives this. The GM has to also take responsibility for the culture of a team though he's not in as hands on a situation as the coaching staff.

Well, the door is open for Ross to justify dumping the whole shebang and starting over. I'm not convinced, based on his history here, that he will take that drastic step though... I think he stays the course, IF this team is reasonably successful the remainder of the season. If the team tanks it, then all bets are off.

I don't think Ross does anything, but I do think there will be some wholesale changes of assistants this offseason. Personally, I think for sure Turner is gone and possibly even Sherman...

The thing is, Ross can screw this up by dumping either Philbin or Ireland rather than dumping the whole regime... If one or the other is retained, we get 2-3 more years of the blame game about who drafted who and signed who and whether they were worth what we paid for them....

On a positive note, if he does, in fact, fire both the cap will be in decent enough shape for the new regime to rectify some things...

Wait, we seriously have fans here saying we should blow it up after 1 1/2 seasons with this coaching squad? Right now, I'm more frustrated with this fan base than the team (and I'm pretty damn frustrated with this team).

I could care less about Ireland, but Philbin should be here next year.

Why? The team hasn't been well coached. The play calling isn't good, the game-planning isn't good, and the team frequently collapses whatever advantage that talent has afforded it in a bunch of games now.

Now it comes out the locker room isn't well managed, either.

Add to that the nepotism of hiring Zach Taylor as QB coach, and our QBs regression within the pocket which is, IMO, one of the top priorities in QB development

Putting aside whatever each individual thinks of this situation, how many black marks on his franchise is Ross prepared to accept before he decides he needs a complete and total overhaul?

He's looked the other way on Ireland twice already. And Philbin hasn't done anything spectacular anyway and it certainly appears that at the least, he failed to have a pulse on the locker room.

...and at what point does Ross realize that he's in over his head as a team owner in the NFL?

If there is some weird conspiracy coverup that involved the coaching staff, then sure. I don't think there is yet, but I could be wrong.

Now if Incognito's cut costs Philbin the lockerroom and the team tanks the rest of the year, and Tannehill puts by Henne like stats the rest of the way, then that's a much more likely reason to get canned.

The caliber of the next coach, if there is one, will determine Jeff Ireland's fate. The top names will want full control.

What could get them both fired, and Ross told off is his fellow owners and Goodell. None of them can be happy at all with this and the negative publicity its generating. Remember the NFL is 32 partnerships in one organization. They act as a collective and suffer as a collective. Ross I am sure is getting heat for this, and to take that off him, Philbin and Ireland may have to go, and his fellow owners may also give him a hint they want him to go as an owner.

If they suffer a franchise worst 5th straight losing season then I'm not quite sure how anyone would want Jeff Ireland here in the midst of all this as well...for a chance at a 6th straight losing season?

If they make the playoffs then they'll possibly stay.

What I think and I what I believe may be different. I believe they survive this if the team wins. I believe if this disrupts the focus on the team and the team doesn't make the playoffs it will be among the contributing factors that could lead to both losing their jobs.

The only way they stay is if the team makes the playoffs.
