I have never heard anyone other than white people use the term cracker, but even still, it's hard to see how the majority, dominant race in this country can be so offended as to equate the two words.

But whatever. I have no interest in calling you or anybody else cracker. It's stupid. Just like the N-word is stupid. And nobody should be using it in any context. Even black people.

If you've never heard anyone besides a white person use it youve never seen a chris rock show. And also I find that very hard to believe And I can't speak for the majority dominate race but I can speak for myself. And any slur is a word meant to put someone down and make the user feel superior. But funny cracker is the one slur you tried to equate....not *** or homo...? Which is used A LOT. Why is there no firings/suspensions/careers ending when those words are so carelessly thrown out. Those whole thing is getting so big because of the nword. And if he had called him you half *** nancy most people on here would be laughing amd not condeming him as a homphpobic billy gay basher.

I said that players should have been disciplined for "homo" and ***. I agreed with you.

And what if he felt unnerved by that word in general, would that mean we need to cut a bunch of other guys too? I don't say the word either, and of course in most work settings it would be completely unacceptable. But you also can't have dreadlocks or tattoos or earrings in a lot of places. It all depends on the environment. In the history of the NFL, there's one guy who has been this hurt by some pranks and an inappropriate word (a guy who partook in the same pranks)....I just don't buy it.

I don't really understand why Martin texted Incognito after all this started to say he didn't blame him or the other guys, just the football culture. Then we learn about a 6-month old voicemail that sounds like half the conversations I hear between a couple 20 year olds playing COD online.

Because the n-word has a long and not glorious history in this country from slavery forward. Prejudice against homosexuals is only more recently frowned upon. In ten years, the words will be seen to be equally bad

I'm talking about the larger culture. It's only the last 20 years or so that *** has been truly frowned upon

By people that were already bigoted lol. If your grandfather used *** because it was socially acceptable at the time they are still prejudiced.

The ostrich head-in-sand technique is a cop out I think.

What's the deal with that, I heard Dad was posting here and on Fin Heaven?

If his Pops keeps popping off he'll basically be committing career suicide on behalf of his son. Cogs already did some serious damage with all those tweets going after ESPN, Shefter, etc. He's a LG, a slightly above average one IMO, I doubt any team would consider him worth the distraction. For his sake I hope both he and his dad shut their mouths, a press conference to apologize to Martin, the Dolphins, the media, the NFL, etc. would be a good start.

    That or retire.

this kid must have real serious issues, probabaly just couldn't take the ribbing...the rest of this team isn't gonna wanna be generalized as that kind of team, and I hope that it's true and they unite..I surely don't believe Philbin runs a loose ship, and I hope this team comes out on Monday and says fu&$ you for generalizing us.

Yeah, we have a great time - because its all in good fun. If some stranger or coworker I had issue with for a while said it - it would be a completely different sub text and I'm perfectly capable of recognize that. Fact is that words are just words. There's nothing inherently bad about any word - but our intentions in using it can be bad. Just using a word doesn't automatically make you a bad person. If you use it to harm or threaten or intimidate someone, than yes - you're being a bad person.

So again - the point is that we can't say anything definite without timeline - and even then it may just be guesswork.

As for the statements that the messages were saved preemptively as evidence, give me a break. I have **** on my phone from 1.5 years ago just because theres no reason to delete it. It just shuffles to the bottom of the conversation list. Welcome to a world where digital storage is relatively cheap.

And gay used to mean happy, and **** used to mean rooster, and ****** used to mean a bundle of sticks. Language evolves. If my grandfather told me to go catch a **** and chop the head off, we're having it for dinner - doesn't mean hes asking me to chop up a ***** and serve it to my sweet little grandmother. It's just what the word used to be.

This would hold water if gramps was actually saying go grab a *** for the fire.Instead of look at the flaming *** in the pink over there. Even if it was socially acceptable to call a homosexual a ***.
