    Mhm...

Martins High School coach said he was afraid to go his coaches with his issues even back then.

Martin's HS coach: “I can see where if somebody was bullying him he would take that to heart, and be concerned and think it was his fault.”

Martin's HS coach believes Martin was too embarrassed to approach coaches or other teammates about his issues.

I think you have to be a bit of a dick to survive in the NFL.
You need that ego to build confidence.

If this came up on a background/character check (as it should have), he'd have been a healthy scratch on my draft board. An intelligent OL with self-esteem issues is an awful combination.

Who are the sources? Martin can just come back and refute that.

Philbin is an honest man. He isn't perfect, but he's a good man.

Never once had the impression Philbin was lying about that. I hope he comes out of this ok. If he gets fired at the end of the season, it should be for on field results, not this.

Pioli on NFL radio yesterday said he didn't like Martin coming out because he was missing something attitude wise. Like he didn't have the toughness for the NFL grind, and might be pushed around. Hmmm ....

I'm saying I'd think it was less likely that an intelligent person would vs an unintelligent person.

Honestly I had my doubts that Philbin knew about this. Just like the ticket said so yesterday, it doesn't add up to Philbin's personality. He released the wife beater Marshall, he released the other wife beater Chad Johnson. He's not going to keep those kinds of characters on the team. But I think he had no choice but to keep Incognito on the team cause while he's average at what he does, it's better than below average (Dallas Thomas).

Probably because dumb people are usually not aware that they're dumb and thus less prone to wonder if they're dumb.

Seriously though, I don't know the clinical reasons, I just happen to know the numbers.

I'm not sure I follow. Are you referring to the rationale that I wouldn't draft intelligent OL with self-esteem issues? Because the rationale for that argument would be completely different than the rationale for why intelligent people are more prone to have self-esteem issues to begin with. One is a clinical argument, the other is an argument about the desired makeup for a specific skill position in a field of sports.

Just saying it's more likely someone who's intelligent would have self-esteem issues but we have no rationale for why makes absolutely no sense, imo.

I'm not saying "we" have no rationale for why, I'm just saying I'm not in a position to give you a thorough, well-researched explanation. I also happen to know that Yuma is considered the sunniest place on Earth, but even though I could hazzard a guess as to why, I'm certainly no meteorologist.

The smoking gun in this whole thing was the voicemail thatCog left Martin. That happened during the offseason. Had Martin told Philbin about it Cog may not have been a Dolphin in 2013. But I am sure it would have been addressed and this scandal would not have occurred

Martin is wrong for not going to people about this and speaking up. (And if he "feared for his life", why would he not contact any police? Specifically in this past week that he's been gone from the team?) Incognito is wrong for not being a leader and being a headache who gets in trouble time and time again, all while his unit was performing poorly and potentially cost the Dolphins the Bills & Ravens games.

I'm glad they're both gone. It is now up to the staff and the players to come together, win some games, and make the playoffs...otherwise there needs to be changes in the offseason. (And its looking like there will be if the team fails once again)

If Philbin and his staff didn't known, then this is a Martin and Incognito problem and shouldn't affect the rest of the team. I keep hearing all these knuckleheads on tv and radio speculating without knowing the facts. Get rid of both guys for good and move and win some ****ing games.
